  • Repairing one of the craziest thing I have ever seen wrong with an amp!
    Hey I enjoy repairing electronics as a hobby, and decided to video some of them to hopefully help other people repair things too.
    Disclaimer: I am not a professional, everything you do is at your own risk.

    Seeing that's how the solder melted, wouldn't the wise decision be to resolder it with high-temperature solder? Instead, it appears as if you have added a lower temperature solder. If there were ever a use case for lead free solder, this would be it.

      No, never. That would be an engineering/design fault if the product can get so hot as to melt leaded solder under normal operating conditions. This was more likely a factory defect combined with improper install/use.

    Amazed that the plastic (CRFP?) of the terminal survived the heat. Makes me wonder what the melting point of the original solder is.

      One terminal was a little messed up, but not much.

    What are those metal brackets that you took off I have the same amp and right when I turned on my car they melted and amp stopped working is it done for or is it fixable?

    • @Crazylogix007
      @Crazylogix007  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The power terminals? Or the fet clamps? Anything can be fixed, it is just if it is economical to fix. Look for some used working ones, that price will set a point that lets you know if a repair quote is worth fixing.

      The fet clamps would it be better to buy new or try and find replacement for it? It was only one side melted the aluminum

    Just out of curiosity what do you normally run your air and your solder gun temperature

    • @Crazylogix007
      @Crazylogix007  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      300-350 C on the iron and 350-400 C on the hot air, but you have to adjust sometimes for heavy traces or delicate work. I'm in the US and have found most equipment is default celsius, and industrial equipment is too, so I just stuck with it.

    For this amp to cost so much money and this happens what a shame I WILL NEVER BUY NONE OF THESE AMPS HELL THE POWER FAN WAS TO PROTECT THE BOARD FROM GETTING THAT HOT :/

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not necessarily a sign of a bad amp design. Usually these types of damage are user error. The user may have been using too small gauge wire or simply CCA wire or the power terminals may not have been screwed down tight. Any of these things could cause the massive heat. Also, just pure abuse such as running the amp full out a lot. Not to mention the fan may not have had cool air to flow through. If the amp was mounted in a confined space or a hot trunk it can only circulate hot air.
      So don't be so quick to bash a product. Take care.

    Hi anyone .the A5 transistor on this amplifier does anyone have a replacement number that could work properly in the circuit as the original soundigital fuck this one up I cannot find that transistor nowhere.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you try to buy some replacements from Sound Digital? They may not want to reveal what fet they use, but they can certainly sell you more defaced ones.
