I celebrated my Birthday in the most meaningful way (Mexico City)

- We avoided Mexico City for a long time.
“It’s dangerous” “They rob people there” “Chilangos are scammers” .. that’s what we often heard. We thought “we don’t need to experience Mexico City” “it’s just a big, busy city”
We were wrong about CDMX. We did need to experience this city. And it’s so much more than we realized.
Today we are celebrating Jenny's 30th Birthday in Polanco Mexico city.

Both books I would recommend are "classics" - Don Quixote a Novel by Miguel de Cervantes (1605) and Candide a Novel by Voltaire (1759). Both books had me laughing out loud as I read them, the humor is hundreds of years old and remains relevant to this day.
Ah, yes, some classic literature! Much needed
Happy Birthday Jenny. You and the cradle robber (lol) are fun to watch; always bringing out the best in each other and open to experiencing new things. Mr. Jenny is very lucky to have such an intelligent, beautiful, fit woman (and I guess ur lucky too). The body gets older, but as long as you stay fit, the mind will never feel old (in 20+ years this will make more sense). Thanks for the great video.
😆😁❤️🙏🏽 haha thank you so much for the kind words. And I agree, staying fit and healthy is the key to feeling (and looking) young!
This might just be the most thoughtful, loving birthday gift ever💝 Kevin, may your idea spread far and wide
I agree! And he came up with it at the last minute after our original plan fell through/had to be pushed back. It turned out to be a perfect day 🥰🎂

Same shirt from Kevin’s birthday 6.5 years ago??? Dang!…Kevin robbed the cradle! 😆😆😆 J/K Sapo verde to you, Jenny! 🐸🎉🎂

Such an original romantic idea. Fantastic video and incredible editing and cinematography as usual
Thank you! We actually collaborated with some editors and shared the editing work on this one. Glad it turned out well!
Feliz cumpleaños jenny 🎂
Muchas gracias! 🙏🏽
Happy Bday! Read “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougall. Great book about the Tarahumara natives in Mexico. Amazing book
Oooh yes that sounds great! Thanks so much!
Guns, germs and steel by Jared Diamond is also a great book… it answered my life long question about why didn’t the American natives sail to Europe, why it happen the way it did.
Happy belated birthday 🎉
Oohh that sounds great! Thanks for the recommendation 😊 look forward to reading it! And thank you 😊
I so appreciate you sharing part of your healing journey with us! I'm on a healing journey as well, connecting to my roots and using medicines/modalities we've lost in the U.S. (or at least are difficult to find). I've been wanting to find a Temazcal in CDMX, so thank you!! 🙏🏽🤎
How perfect! Glad we could connect in this world of the internet 😁 and share this in common 🤎

Cool, I’ve heard good things about the novel. Thanks for mentioning it!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNY!! 30!!💖

What an incredibly thoughtful way to celebrate a birthday! I felt your energy and emotions from the temazcal Jenny! It made my eyes tear up hearing you talk about your ancestors and inner child. So beautiful! Many blessings for your next year of life and the path you are following! ❤🎉
Happy Birthday, Jen!! Just got to tell you how much I love watching your videos. I watch every single one! (I'm a retired nurse from Chicago. I lived in Roscoe Village til coming down here to retire in San MIguel de Allende.) I have three sons, born in Chicago that are also foodies! Your videos are just great. You two are the BEST! I have a free room for you any time you want to come visit San Miguel.

No way you guys are 30 and 36? Would have guessed 24 and 26! Wow. Still puppies compared to me.

Pedro Páramo by Juan Rulfo

I have the millennial lotería and I recently purchased the Yucatán lotería too. Love having them for game night 😁
Great video. Happy Birthday, Jenny! As the son of a career librarian, I am a huge reader. Great gift, Kevin! And I need to visit El Pendulo soon. I have been out for a couple of weeks with a shoulder surgery.
ah, ouch, as this reply is 3 weeks later, I hope your shoulder is healing well! 🙏🏽
Any favorite books/authors you wanna recommend to us? 🤗
I am doing great! Almost ready to get rid of this sling contraption. I love many books. Three I have read lately I liked especially were James by Percival Everett, Wellness by Nathan Hill, and Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange. If I want books in English in CDMX I check out Under The Volcano.
Sling contraption 😆 thanks so much for the recommendations! Happy healing ❤️🩹 to the shoulder ✨

Thank you! ☺️
Happy Birthday!
I highly recommend, "Women Who Run With The Wolves," by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. I've recommended this book to quite a few friends...some have even called it "life changing" but I also love that it's steeped in Mexican culture and lore.
Ooooohhh sounds perfect! Thanks so much 🙏🏽❤️
Happy birthday🎉
Thank you! 😊
HBD... Feliz cumpleaños.. Jenny
Thank you!!
Happy birthday from Chicago!

Wifey and I went to that bookstore five years back. I loved that place, loved that barrio. You couldn't drag me out of there.
Such a fun place for book and coffee lovers!

Happy birthday! We are heading to Polanco tomorrow morning from Mazatlán for a week (our second time in Mexico City). Love your video and following your travels across Mexico.😉😊💓🎉🥳🎊🎂
Aw thanks so much!! Enjoy your stay in Polanco🤗
Feliz cumple 🎁🎂🎈🪅🌮🍻❗️
Gracias! 🙏🏽
Feliz cumple, Jenny. I also love bookstores and can spend days in them. CDMX has some awesome bookstores, but I didn't know this one. I will definitely visit next time. My problem always is how to bring them home in the limited baggage on the plane. I left Paris with 34 books in my suitcase and barely made the weight limit... :)
Wow! Looks like you need to bring an extra luggage for all your new books 📚😅 super cool, you’ll love El Pendulo!
Feliz cumpleaños, Jenny! 🎉 Recomiendo cualquier libro de Elizabeth Acevedo.
Muchas gracias por la recomendación 😁
Happy birrhday
Thank you
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is a banger 💯
Between you both look young I couldn’t believe you guys ages if you didn’t say it. You guys look way younger than what you actually are congratulations 🎉
My birthday is March 17! But I am a little older 😉 One of my favorite writers is Jane Harper, from Australia, if you like mysteries! Also love Lisa Jewell from the UK. For nonfiction I recently read Deep Work and Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport. Currently I am reading Alchemy of a Blackbird by Claire McMillan, about the Spanish painter Remedios Varo, who fled to Mexico during World War II. I love your choices!
Oh hey happy belated birthday! 😁🎂🎉
Those all sound like excellent titles 👌🏽
Last book I bought was Be Useful (7 tools for life) by Arnold Schwarzenegger
Ooh, sounds cool! Thanks!
Jenny hubby came through!!! Such a sweet and thoughtful man. Love this!!!
He really is! 🥰
It’s dope how these 2 stick together, I root for peeps like that 💪 even tho I dnt actually know them
@@djmegahurtz so sweet of you!
Thanks!
So kind! Thanks so much🫂❤️

Feliz cumple Jenny! Excellent video guys, where is the temazcal place? Also, I gotta check those books you got, specially the coffee one! Have you read, Aztec by Gary Jennings? Crazy good fictional novel surrounded by actual events during the late days of the Spanish conquista. My mom told to read it and loved it! LOL
It’s in Tlalpan, south of CDMX, not roof far past Six Flags Mexico. It’s called Temazcal Tonatiuh and I highly recommend it 😊
I started that book! But it’s so big it was hard to travel with and I haven’t finished it. Thanks for reminding me about it 😁
My daughter recommends Fresh Water for Flowers by Valérie Perrin or Circe by Madeline Miller.
Put it on our list, thank you for the recommendation.
You’re a Badass at Making Money - Jen Sincero
Love this title. Thanks
🎂!!
When exactly is Kevin’s birthday? I’m an Aquarius like him and my dh of 20 plus years is a Pisces. I love catching up with you guys on TH-cam and I’m rooting for all the best for you all
Happy Birthday! You are not old until you have a child old enough to remind you that you will always be 30+ years older than her! But I view that as a minor inconvenience that is part of the journey that we are on.
😆haha makes sense!
❤🎉❤
Kristen Hannah books are awesome!
Thanks for the rec!
Vid reminds me of Desperado, Salma had the bookstore lol 📚
Haven’t seen it! It’s a film right? Do you recommend it?
@@EatBailaTravel wowwwww can’t believe you guys haven’t seen it, def a classic. Antonio Banderas & Salma Hayek
Kevin says he’s seen it. I haven’t 😁😅

Kevin gifted me this book for Christmas one year ☺️ I loved it! Fantastic book
We played millennium loteria during covid. The di*kpic onewas definitely unexpected as we played with grandma via zoom
🫢🫢🤭🤭 Ope! 😅😅 hahahaha was not expecting that one
Jenny te encargo el libro de Fransisco Navarrete por favor.🙏
Hola mi treintaitona hermosa creo que me quiboque y el libro se llama no se pero es así Federico Nabarrete quien conquistó América.❤
Just so you know, 30 is still in your 20's. 1-10, 11-20, 21-30...lol
How did I never think of this before? Wow
😆ahhh so true!!! Hahaha
And your twenties is your third decade of life. At 31 you enter your fourth decade of life. So really the expression of "30 is just a number" is so true!
Ala! Kevin does NOT look 36!! All of this time I thought Kevin was the younger one in the relationship😂 Happy belated birthday, Jenny!
Hahaha 😅 it’s fun to tell people we’re almost 7 years apart and have then try and guess which one is the older/younger one 😜
Regarding books, im reading a book by Professor Camilla Townsend, titel, Fifth sun a new history of the Aztecs.
Oxford university press
Thanks for the rec!
Books about Mexico will help understand more why we're the way we are. If you keep reading you will find out the lies that Mexican government came out with to form an ideology that with struggle to understand and it has even shaped the ideology of Mexicans and other citizens in the US. This has to do with the myth that is Latin America. Yes, this is very difficult understand but this is just myth.
1. there is not a Latin race.
2. Mesoamericans were the first indigenous group in the continent, the second group named norte chicos settled in what is Peru today so even the indigenous of the american continent were of different race. So we had little in common with South America and Centro America. After Centro America left the Mexican empire, they took a lot of European and African people not to mention that most of Mayan fled northern Guatemala to escape the Spaniards. So these Central American countries are very diverse and rich in culture.
3. North America is a geographic region and Latin America is not based in geography it's made up by countries that speak Spanish or Portuguese. The basic definition of latin countries is to speak a language derive from the Latin among them Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese.etc However, Latin America leaves out French speaking countries and regions in the America continent. For example, the French Guaina, Suriname, Guiana, the Quebec region in Canada, Haiti and 100s of little islands in the Caribbean sea. Why? Because it was France which came out with the term Latin America in an effort to brain washed Mexican politicians and conquer Mexico. Yes, in fact it was Napoleon III, who wanted to separate the US from Mexico and keep Mexico as their territory but they couldn't conquer Mexico. Mexico and the rest of the continent kept the ideology of Latin America after the French were defeated but now they decided to exclude all French speaking countries or French colonies from the dream called "latin america" or brotherhood that doesn't exist.
So Latin America is just a group of countries that do not really have anything positive in common only 2 things. One that Spanish is widely spoken and two that we had a history being conquered. That is all. In the US, all Spanish speakers are treaty as hispanic another mistake or as Latinos. Latin American countries are really a mix of many races. Living in the US as a Mexican, I don't think that we should be called Hispanics or Latinos under the hood we're all different people depending on the nationality. But then again this lie is being sold everyday by the spanish language TV in the US in order to sell.....
Excellent mini-essay!!👏🏼 lol seriously all of this is so important to be aware of thanks for writing it. These terms were created for political gain and ended up causing a lot of identity crisis issues. It’s important to understand the history and the WHY of things
Hope, this helps. @@EatBailaTravel
you need to be reading the Bible and not that mindless garbage! Jesus will judge us all according to our works!
The Bible was written by men whose main objective was to create an obedient society. There are some nice stories in there. But in the end, people will interpret its intentions in ways that are convenient to them. So I don’t think it matters whether I read it or not. Jesus is welcome to judge me according to my actions.
@@EatBailaTravel He will. The obedient to everlasting life and the disobedient to everlasting destruction. You can count on that.
@@EatBailaTravel so you think we descend from monkeys or rocks? There is no God?
@@AllentheBeloved just don’t forget that just because it was printed in a book, doesn’t mean it’s right. We still need to think and decide for ourselves! All books are merely suggestions of someone else’s ideas. It’s up to us to decide what we take of it.
