    Very good logic about timing changing in either direction... I'll have to remember that!

    Lots of time diagnosing the problem- and time is money. Hope your customer appreciates that!
    I really appreciate your vids- (ordered auto valve body from you years ago). Donated to the vids.
    Anyone who gets value out of these- consider that a small donation is a bargain compared to the value of the info.

    good mixture of detail and useful diagnostics, I own a 99.5 ALH with 392 on the original engine, I bought the car new there in the Kansas City area, I live now in Central Oregon. I sure hope if I ever have major problems with that engine I'm somewhere in the midwest not too far away, I would really trust you to diagnose and resolve any problem, especially with the ALH engine I have seen you work on in many prior videos

    Just got this code on my sdi . Running wvo was thinking it was just cause ambient temp had dropped as had lumpy start but low performance and when flat out feels like Stavation. Gna check wiring and fuses for solenoid first but I'm now woundering if veg has made the piston stick hmmm

    I adjusted mine now ro exactly where you ended up here after mine was so advanced. It was way off the chart first. It this ok where you ended up, or must it be as close to the blue line as possible? Great video!

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      People say there are benefits to having it high and there are different benefits to having it low. in our shop or procedure is that its close to the blue.

      What benefits for advanced timing and for retarded timing?
      Is one for efficiency and the other for power?

    I find that when the pumps sit around a while the QA can get sticky and cause the QA codes. Usually they will free up after a bit of running. That's probably what happened here.

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      QA and timing systems are different. That isn't what happened here. I agree though QA will sometimes stick like your saying.

    Are there any symptoms of timing being out if we have no codes? The car ain’t running the way it used to and i’m suspecting the pump’s timing is indeed the issue..

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Injection timing is very easy to check with VCDS so just check it or have it checked.

    Tout mes respects a vous
    Est ce possible de nous faire une vidéo montrant comment vérifier le bon calage ou la synchronisation avec l outil diagnostic vcds pour les moteur 1.6 ou 2.0 tdi
    Ou au moins le lien de la vidéo au cas où vos aurai déja fais une vidéo en se sens

      Je peux essayer de faire ça. Avec le travail actuel et l'arriéré vidéo, cela prendrait des mois. Il peut y avoir d'autres chaînes qui ont déjà une vidéo pour cela.

    What would cause the timing to not be stable. Mine at temp jumps between 50 to 75. All the videos I have seen they are all steady. 200k+ Miles. Thinking about just installing the 11mm pump as I figured mine is pretty worn.

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They jump around a bit. Vagcom even offers a "cloud" feature IIRC to show how much. If your not having a code I'm not sure if you have a huge problem. I have another timing related video you might want to watch. not sure if it directly applies to your "problem" or not. th-cam.com/video/Q5AZ2iXbg4k/w-d-xo.html

      @@CoolAirVw ya no codes. Just my first Volkswagen diesel. Got it for 250 bucks because of kid lowered it and hit his oil pan so I rebuilt the engine over winter and was kind of surprised how gutless it was. Slight blow by over 200,000 miles I installed a clacker pump as a lift pump and that helped immensely was just curious if I messed up the timing. Videos always show the timing is steady and mind bounces thanks for the reply appreciate the help. Can you believe that I work on turbine diesel engines and this little thing still gets me 😂

    I have Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI ALH. I encountered P1248 after adjusting IQ using hammer mod. There are air bubbles in the fuel line from the filter to the pump. Rough idling, low power, diesel smell in the exhaust, engine vibration are observed. What could be the possible cause?

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      P1248 is for timing and wouldn't be affected by IQ adjust. Some air bubbles are normal. I don't know what is wrong. Use the techniques in the video.

      @@CoolAirVw Thank you so much for the advice. I removed the fuse 29 and I could find the change in engine sound. I will adjust the timing using vcds and also make IQ adjustment using adaptation. I would revert if it doesn't solve the issue.

      There are gasket sets that are easily available, but parts for repairs would have to be ordered through a Bosch authorized service center. The quantity adjuster is a expensive part.
