Don't speak too soon. She has to cope with much more attention now, both on and off the court. There have been quite a few recent players who have won one or more Grand Slams impressively and didn't go on to dominate ( Clijsters, Henin, Ivanovic, Sharapova, Muguruza, Kerber, Azarenka, Kvitova, Wozniacki, Li Na, Stosur, Mauresmo ). An impressive effort by Iga but will she still be winning Grand Slams ten years from now ? Only Graff, Williams and Sharapova have managed to do that in the last 30 years ( there have been 38 different winners in that period, 22 of those with multiple wins , so 3 out of 38, only an 8% chance to dominate ). Time tells, not just one outstanding performance.

Wow, Swiatek played great. I recommend everyone rewatch the highlights and just watch Iga's footwork. If she can do this in every match she will be tough to beat.
Nobody talked about her in 2020. Was a heavy underdog and on NOBODYs radar. A year earlier she got absolutely smoked and blown off the court by Halep. In 2020 she won the title, destroying Halep along the way, and losing no more than 5 games per match. 2022 she entered FO on a 28 match win streak and all the pressure was on her. She was as overwhelming of a favourite as Novak is at AO, Nadal at FO, and Federer at Wimbledon in his prime years. She took the title losing only 1 set the whole tournament (and that match where she lost a set she took complete control afterwards, 6-0 6-2). Two completely different experiences, takes the title both times. Plays well with and without pressure. Now world number 1 with a huge lead in points over the No. 2. Very well earned.
Impressive that she was able to stay composed throughout. I'm also impressed by her athletic ability to adjust her shots on the run, such as the wide finish backhand. Looks like she also has a good service motion. Certainly will be an interesting player to watch. Congrats Swiatek.😁
BRAVA, Iga Swiatek! You were brillians. Such incredible depth, speed, and precision on all your ground shots. Amazing! Kenin clearly needs to grunt a little louder; we could hardly hear her.

I have never seen any girl at this age can play so good this polish girl is unbelievable her forehand and backhand are in the same level u can't find any weakness in her game she hit the ball so well from both sides I don't know if she could play in the same level in hard court or grass court but if she could I don't see anybody can beat her she is a total package
Poland Garros lol! she has the skills to become the next Serena or Steffi Graf. only time will tell, she gave the competition a beatdown the like's that I've never seen.
Swiatek has one of the heavier forehands I've seen in the women's game in a long time. Well deserved win. Kenin just doesn't have enough weapons. Kenin was also too indecisive on her approach shots and tried to hit some of the most pathetic half volleys I've ever seen instead of either hitting a swinging or regular volley.

@@Jazza1610 Halep does well but lacks raw power. She's about the same size as Justine Henin but does not have the same level of power.
Congrats to Iga what a tournament she's had. So excited to see so many young players rising in the WTA, Kenin, Coco, Anisimova, Andreescu, Vondrousova, Yastremska and of course now the new French Open champion Iga Swiatek. Tennis is in safe hands going forward with these women
Osaka
You seem to forget Naomi Osaka, a three time Grand Slam Winner at age 22! Incidentally, Naomi and Iga are friends!
Funny how you left off Osaka when she is better than all of them. I'm not sold on Anisimova being a future grand slam champion just yet.
What about Osaka?!
Vondrousova is a fluke... and don’t forget about Barty
I love how she kept her opponent back, then sliced at the most untimely moments! Amazing!
At 19 Iga is already a complete, sophisticated skillful tennis player.
Una bestia la Polaca...futura número 1 si sigue así.
No lo creo. Es una de esas jugadoras que en el próximo torneo perderá en primera ronda. Esta es su mejor superficie. Con Serena, esta final hubiera dado pena la polaca.

Yep totally. Iga and Ash Barty as well are great to watch
So you never saw Aga Radwanska play?
@@deaddoll1361 did she ever win something important?
Andreescu is another great talent, but only when she’s not injured. Serena really did herself a disservice by not accomplishing everything she wanted earlier and prolonging her career just enough for a new generation of incredible talent to arise.
@@deaddoll1361 she's not a skilled tennis player.
👉 🔥🔥🔥And now, a year later, she is WTA's number one!!! 🔥🔥🔥👈

OH MY GOD, DON'T COUNT THE EGGS YET, WAIT FIRST FOR THE HEN TO HATCH,. DO NOT FORGET THAT THE CURRENT WTA NUMBER 1 IN THE WORLD IS ASHLEIGH BARTY FROM AUSTRALIA WHO ALREADY WON MULTIPLE TITLES INCLUDING GRAND SLAMS AND CAN PLAY 3 DIFFERENT SPORTS - CRICKET, GOLF & TENNIS ON A HIGH PROFESSIONAL LEVEL.
Tony Navaro Talk to me next year
Don't speak too soon.
John Featherstone sorry, I’m gonna stick with my prediction. Winning you first slam on clay is absolutely momentous. You can argue all you want, but I’ll just have to act recklessly according to you.
@@screamingoldman TOTALLY DISAGREE, HOPEFULLY SHE WON'T BE ANOTHER OSTAPENKO SYNDROME WHERE SHE WON 1 GRAND SLAM THE FRENCH OPEN, THEN COULDN'T HANDLE THE PRESSURE AND JUST DISAPPEARED TO OBLIVION.

Not nowhere. She's been on everyone's radar since she was 15, winning the Wimbledon Juniors and playing the ITF circuit.
@@coach6250 Who picked her to win the French before it began? No one. Obviously she had to have had success before to be ranked 54 at 19 years old, but she definitely came out of nowhere in terms of winning this tournament.
I can't remember the last time I saw an unseeded player absolutely destroy a top seed in a final like this. It was incredible to watch. Flawless tennis from Iga. Particularly loved those backhands down the line
Wow. Just based on these highlights, it doesn't seem that Kenin played badly. She was just overmatched. The way Swiatek covers the court is something seldom seen in women's tennis. She is just always there. Combine that with some crazy winners out of nowhere, and it makes her nigh unbeatable. Bravo.

fantastic! warm greetings from austria!
Keep being injury free and keeps developing... World number 1 in many many years to come.. Extremely impressive.
She is like a breeze on a hot day! Fantastic, and this is just the beginning!
Impressive that she was able to stay composed throughout. I'm also impressed by her athletic ability to adjust her shots on the run, such as the wide finish backhand. Looks like she also has a good service motion. Certainly will be an interesting player to watch.
Congrats Swiatek.😁

This has got to be a tough loss for Kenin, but congrats to her on making yet another GS Final. And congrats to Swiatek on such an amazing run!
It kinda reminds me of Stosur's. She gets a lot of great whip on the ball.
Her forehand and attitude reminding me of Justine Henin, top five material for sure.
I hate your comment, but it is true.
Her forehand is so similar to Henin is beautiful to watch plus the same tactical game. She will win many more RG for sure
