I always wonder if Kenin would felt differently after losing this final if someone told her, that she was playing someone drastically better than her, who has a potential to beat Chris Evert as Clay GOAT, and would win 3 out of last 4 editions. Shame that Iga lost in that RG 2021 to pressure (Sakkari also participated), but Krejcikova proved herself after that 2021 RG title with 2022 and 2023 round 1 losses so we know it was an anomaly edition of the tournament in 2021. Still amazes me that this year Iga defended RG title as 1st one in 16 years, and broke that Justine Henin's curse, which even Serena Williams couldn't do. But clay is a surface for the real deals, most physically demanding.
Iga losing in 2021 was partly because she was also playing doubles. She got to the final with Bethanie,but she always says that right now can't play both.
just plain great tennis from iga. her heavy forehand topspin is her greatest weapon but i hope she use her dropshots more in her 2024 season. she can time it so well and can place it great too.
They are training approaching the net and more drop shots. I think 2024 will be yet another of Iga's good years. She is still very young,has plenty time to master her game.
Iga is the best female clay courter since Justine Henin. She's really the next evolution of the sport - no woman to date has boasted a forehand with that combination of pace *and* topspin.
It was the time I fall in love with Iga❤. With That power combined with flexibility and drop shots, I know could do more than now, she will definitely be one fo the goat.

I like surprise winners in sport. But what I like even more is when they can back up their result and prove that weren’t a ”One Big Title Wonder”. Iga has backed up this win abd then some.
