    I may not have been clear at the end: the point is to use DLSS-Quality in the end, which is now the same as DLSS-Ultra Quality, which MSFS doesn't offer. The reason I used Ultra Performance as an example of the resolution is that it's a 50% downscale, so the math is easy to make sure it's working. If you are running DLSS-Quality now and get good performance, this is a way of getting a better image quality than you are currently seeing. If you can use DLSS-DLAA right now, then you're fine, no modding necessary! But you may find that different aircraft, different regions, different types of flying (small plane sightseeing vs. airliners into big cities) require different graphics setups. Just giving you options, folks!

    Wow! I was using the old method for a couple of months with a 20% increase in frame rates and was happy. Now I'm using this method I've gone from a steady 45-48 fps to 80 fps with absoloutely no micro stutters! I was running a mix of Ultra and High settings and now manage 75-80fps with settings all maxed out on a RTX 2070 super! You are doing some real valuable work on this, many thanks!👍

    Wow man!! Thanks a million!! I set the quality preset to 0.80. and with my pico 4, 4080 and 13600 i got stable 36 fps locked with mr. And it is fluid smooth, even flying the 172 over New York. Now i can see the buttons in the airplane sharper and clearer. Thanks again for helping the community mr AWESOME!! 😁😁👍👍😁😁👍👍 Greetings from Norway!! 🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴

    Can definitely understand why this is both interesting for people, as well as why they feel its worth their time. For me, while I do watch videos like this, I stopped messing with setting or tracking fps 6 months ago. I just placed my settings within the sim to minimize stutters etc, and then just started enjoying the sim. Couldnt even tell you what my fps is.

    Thanks for the video but honestly I don't see a point in going through all this just to change these settings by 13%. If "Quality" is still not acceptable for your cockpit displays then just use DLAA!!!!! The number of steps needed to apply all these mods the past few months with their to be frank: "limited and very minor" performance improvements is getting ridiculous LOL! (Then is has to be done on every update.) Good tutorial though!!!

      Hey no problem, always appreciate any tweaking you offer us out here! (This one had a lot of steps and I was expressing mild frustration with ASOBO, (not you) for not offering this level of control within their own software; an ancient code from a previous generation game that ASOBO is well aware of, that demands this level precise tweaking to get right for any given PC config.) Actually, I tried DLAA last night. Like you , I have the 3080Ti BUT using VR on the Reverb G2. The step up from Quality to DLAA was too much for my current settings for our card, sigh, LOL! (Motion reprojection dropped from solid 30FPS with smooth visuals to a mildly stuttering 22.5 for most terrain.) But pretty happy with Quality since I can read cockpit displays just fine; any lower and displays get to fuzzy for my taste. I could see no difference looking at terrain between the two settings, seems to mainly effect cockpit display quality from my limited perception which is from an "Old man eyes perspective." He, He! (I might consider playing with this Ultra-Quality setting at some point but happy with default quality for now.) Happy simming sir!@@IslandSimPilot

    Thanks for this clear and concise explanation in this video. In 2D I really see improvement with increase of the FPS. In VR it is still very blurry for me. Glass cockpits (totally unreadable) and landscapes (especially trees) are sometimes so blurry that I get a headache. Given the number of enthusiastic reactions I think that could be better. You could certainly do that if you use Performance. My thinking is that most people won't because of the image quality reduction. The idea here is that if you use Quality and get good results with that, to push it even further. Fair question though! Just depends on your setup.

    This seems like a long winded and pointless process. Why not just select the final quality setting you want? You are somewhat fooling yourself clicking 1 but behind the scenes getting a higher render resolution. I still think DLSS in the sim is awful, even with the swapper. I also have seen no performance gain over TAA. Best of both worlds is to use TAA and lower the Render Scale and get rid of this upscaling. You also do not get the terrible ghosting on glass cockpits which exists regardless of which version of DLSS that you use

    • @IslandSimPilot
      @IslandSimPilot  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It really depends on your hardware and also what planes you typically fly. Also, people have different experiences with ghosting; I basically have none, my glass cockpits are crystal clear using DX12 DLSS. The perfect world is DLSS-DLAA: no downscaling. Personally I’ve got some performance headroom, I’m going to do this to push my Holy Grail settings even further. I promise you that won’t be pointless. 😁
      In the end it’s up to you. Nobody has to do anything, I’m just giving you the tools so it’s just available to you should you so choose.

      Agreed.... The NvidiaInspector means of accomplishing this with V3.5.1 that is way more solid than V3.1.30.... And why do the confusing DLSS Name Step-Up???? Not necessary and only Ultra-Quality needs F while the others need to remain at default.

      Im not a fan of DLSS. Just does not look good when compared to TAA. Ive tried all the tricks, but TAA is the only “clean” image that Ive seen. No ghosting, no artifacts, no tearing etc. Now….with that said, I still have to face lower fps. Recently I tried two addons to assist with this. Both have been pretty impressive so far. First is the Lossless Scaling….only using for the added frame generation. The second is the Auto FPS (known also as the Dynamic Level of Detail). No DLSS mess, no swapper etc. Im seeing smooth flights, using these two, while flying Fenix a320, custom third party international airports, AI traffic, etc etc.

    • @IslandSimPilot
      @IslandSimPilot  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think this new driver isn't as good as the hotfix one, which was 551.46. I did a video of that driver on my channel with a link to download it if you want to try that one. Honestly I've been tempted to go back to it myself. But I haven't seen that specific problem. I just "feel" like 46 was better than 51, even though there isn't any reason it should be.

    1. Does the 3.5.1 and other versions above the MSFS used one work for 20** Cards as I seen no difference when just replacing that file. Although it did work for my 3080 card.
    2. Do you really need to do all that the "easy way" instead of just replacing with 3.5.1 and then only using PERFORMANCE which is the default 50%?
    3. I have seen that if we use the other DLSS Version which includes the letter "G" as DLSSG" then that messes up 20** cards and must only be used for 40 cards as that adds REPRO for those even though we can add REPRO with either of the OpenXR APPS. So the FRAME GEN mod should really not work for VR yet some say it does. It all depends on their proper explanation of what they are in fact using perhaps.
    I'm not gonna use a swapper as eventually ASOBO will update to using the latest at some point.

    • @IslandSimPilot
      @IslandSimPilot  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you do anything at all, do the DLSS Swapper thing. It literally takes two seconds and can really make a difference. The only card you need the "G" file for is for 40-series cards. And yes, the 3.5.1 version works for 20-series cards. You don't ALWAYS see a difference, but really you should.

The truth is that with almost everything in ultra I can't get above 35 fps with the fenix a320, and with GA I do get about 45 fps. I have tried with dlss 3.7 in DLAA, with TAA, in OpenXR I have set the resolution to 2800.

    OK, for using DLDSR 1.78x I'll use DLSS quality downscaling to 0.75 as it rounds up to the monitor resolution! DLDSR 1.78x = 1.333 upscaling and 2.25x = 1.5

      Hey, this happened because I've got my framerates limited in NVCP. The max it will give me is 60 whether running FG or not, and the in-sim FPS counter in DEV mode does not count FG frames. So what happened was, without FG I was getting 60 FPS, with FG I got 60 FPS, but in order to get that 60 with FG it had to cut the actual framerate to 30 and then double it. So the in-sim FPS counter shows 30. If that makes sense. :)

    I noticed after you finished the DLSS Tweaks, you were getting 60 FPS. But after you finished the Frame Gen Mod, you were getting 30 FPS. Is that right that you lost about 30 FPS? I must be missing something.

    • @IslandSimPilot
      @IslandSimPilot  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I noticed the same. The reason is that I’ve got my max FPS limited to 60 using NVCP, and the frame counter in Dev Mode only counts the non-frame gen frames if that makes sense. So my system is limiting my frames to 60, which is 30 native and then 30 more from the frame gen mod = 60. In a lot of scenarios in the sim I don’t need frame gen, and in this scenario in downscaling 50%, so I was easily hitting 60.

      For you I would try DX12 DLSS-DLAA and see how performance is. If it is good, let me know! You have native Frame Gen with that card, so you should be able to just turn it on in MSFS.

      Hey! If you used the “normal” version you should be able to just remove the files from your MSFS content folder and then right click and select “Merge” on the disablenvidiasigoverride.reg file. See here: github.com/emoose/DLSSTweaks
      Please let me know if that works for you!

    Hello, in order to have just DLAA no DLSS working with the latest DLSS from the DLSS Swapper do we need any of this or just swapping the DLSS will do?

      Hey! Nope, you don't have to do any of this unless you want to, you can run DLSS without changing any of this. I would use DLSS Swapper to update the DLSS file though.

    Every time you post a new video I learn something else about my set up. I followed the new instructions to the T. but now I realized my render res. is not half of my game resolution. Any idea of what I could have done wrong?? The log file seems fine, no errors.

      @@IslandSimPilotThat happens with any of the DLSS options I select. Are you saying this only applies to Ultimate Performance?

    • @IslandSimPilot
      @IslandSimPilot  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Hypnotoast Yeah with Ultimate Performance your new downscale should be 50%, so you should see "render" being half of your monitor resolution. If it's not working I can only think you may have missed a small step or done things slightly out of order. This process is finicky, it took me two days to get right. How is your performance normally with DLSS-Quality? If it's pretty good but DLSS-DLAA is not, then this process is probably worth it for you.

    • @Hypnotoast
      @Hypnotoast 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@IslandSimPilotOk, that's what I thought. Yeah, performance with DLSS-Q and the frame gen. mod is perfect for me. Solid butter smooth 50fps with Ultra settings enabled (3080 card and 100Hz refresh rate). I will go over those steps once again. Thanks again!

    • @IslandSimPilot
      @IslandSimPilot  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't see why not. I'm not a VR guy so I can't try it out for you, but if DX12 works with VR (and I am sure it does), then this should work as well. The way to test it is, if you get good performance with DX12 DLSS-Quality and you think you have performance headroom, this would be worth doing.
