    You can wrap duct tape on the tire iron where it touches the rim so there's no metal to metal contact. Fill a spray bottle with dish soap/water instead of rubbing soap right on the bead. Buy 8 lashing straps from Harbor Freight, space evenly around tire and tighten until the beads are touching together, then you can just push the tire into the rim. Remove the straps and air it up.

    Thanks for sharing the info! Makes me think I can do it!

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can do it, it will be a fight to get the tire back in the wheel. If you use the same balancing and sealing gel it will have a vibration at first from it sitting. A little short run usually takes care of it.

    Do you know the trick to getting the tire on and off the rim is to make sure that both side of the beads fall into the very center of the rim. If you know what I’m talking about that way the tire can shift farther from one side to the other.

    what size tire did you do - my cruiser has 15 and 16 in wheels... and apparently it doesn't do 15's? due to the top ring??? any way you figure to work around that?

  • @skratz

    Have you figured out what the brass rod and clip are for?

    • @JamesP33R
      @JamesP33R ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, right? I got one of these over the weekend. My best guess is that it is a hold down. You could lever one of the irons under it for a starting point at mounting? I saw that in the assembly and was immediately thinking what the heck is that thing for? Oh, the center bolt could use to be longer too. On my C50 rear tire, the hub is thicker that that bolt is long. Unless you have the wheel seated with a specific side up, and then it is only a a couple threads holding it. BUT, it does the job. Had to fix a tube. Hardest part is snaking the tuba back in. Probably easier if I pulled the tire entirely off.

    Thanks for showing us the way. What were you using the ratchet straps for? And never saw you using the bead breaker arm. Did you not need it?

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ratchet straps were keeping tire on bead so it don’t keep slipping off. I used the bead breaker

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  ปีที่แล้ว

      Beads work really well, this is the first try of this product for me. Jury is still out because the gel has a tendency to collect at the bottom of the tire and take a few miles for it to level out again.

    You stated, "I hope you enjoyed this video." ehm, no.
    There are a number of flaws in your work. You did get the job done however.
    I really just wanted to see how the Harbor Freight tire changing gizmo works.
