    I spent all day yesterday removing a bias ply tire with a stiff sidewall from a badly corroded wheel. After many experiments, I eventually developed the solution you eloquently presented in your video. Wish I had seen your video before I started. I watched other videos and everything looked so easy. But didn't work for my situation. A million thanks to you.

    This is a great technique indeed. My father years ago watched me start use a scissor jack, boards, and a truck bumper to break a motorcycle bead. He stopped me and said try a set of big C clamps and it worked like a charm. Only modification I did to the C clamps was weld a nut to the top for a ratchet, wrench, or a long breaker bar.       @@YogisCycleService Thank you for showing others a safe technique. I grew up changing auto and equipment tires mostly using the old hammer and bar, old manual or air tire machine never liked the rims that involve chains or a cage. Will have to watch more of your how to video's they are excellent.

    I have an electric winch on my 18 foot trailer which works great. I just raise up the tounge of the trailer. Support the tire underneath it. And then lower it down so it is catching just the tire and just missing the rim. It works great!!

    I usually place the clamps a couple inches apart so they share the load and doesn’t weaken the side wall of tyre , once it pops, the rest is easy.

    You'll want to put some strips of inner tube rubber or similar between the rim and the clamp head. Maybe you chewed your rims with the thread, maybe you didn't, but it's better to take precautions than have regrets.

      Agreed and usually use cut up laundry detergent bottles

    Hot damn no wonder the HF bead breaker had an issue. That’s an absolute unit of a tire. Super helpful video. Need to pop the bead to swap on some valve stems.

    Omgosh bud thank you thank you. I just spent over 2 hours doing just about everything I could think of. Watched this video grabbed some clamps off the wall and BOOM done in 5min.

    It works. After messing about with harbor freight bead breaker, I gave up and searched and found this. It took one minute. GOod job! Thanks

    Been using this method for fifty years , but if you have a bench vise it's a bit easier

      You literally just place tire in there and tighten down? Any tips or is that it? Thanks for that idea. I've got a giant vise and it's just never dawned on me.

    Thanks man, just what i needed. I used just the clamps for the front tire but the rear wouldn't budge. Gonna try the clamps with the board right now.

    Great Video sir, thanks for the demonstration!! My local bike shop is asking 280$ to change tires if I bring him new tires and the wheels , so its time I change them myself. Thanks for the tip.

    If you have a really old tire & rim breaking the bead is the east part. I used a pry bar & a grinder with a cut off disc to cut the tire for removal. The pry bar was a guard to protect the rim.

    That was not too bad. Knowing what it can take with a bead breaker and a 4x4 that is a very good option.

      It worked PERFECTLY!!! Holy shit was that easy! I picked up a pair of 8" clamps from home depot, a 1/2 by 24" section of gas pipe and a short section of board. With in a few minutes the bead let loose like it was nothing! Thank you so much for this video! I was going at it for hours last night with the motion pro breaker irons.

    I've worked at a tire shop before, I would say there is a good chance if you take your clean wheels to a tire shop they would break the beads for free in 37 seconds using a regular tire machine.

    Good info as always Yogi. I got my 195/60R16 tire ordered for my 16 Ultra Limited. Gonna replace my valve stem with one for easier access after wheel is mounted. 2 questions sir: What is the hole size in the rim (mine should be the same as yours)? What angle valve stem would you recommend (45, 60, 85, 95) for rear wheel? You'll probably say that is a matter of personal preference but the hole size is what I really need to know.       I use the 82 degree valve stem , forget who makes them , think , not sure , but the hole is 11mm I believe

      @@jackthebagger7589 Thanks for the reply. Since I didn't hear from anyone I contacted Kurvy Girl and she sent me 2. I used 1 on the rear a couple months ago and used the other one on the front a month ago. Both are doing great! Loving the car tire on the rear. Appreciate the info. Ride On!

    I have a rear 160-60zr18 Pirelli Angel GT mounted in reverse on the front of my 2015 Victory Vision. Besides the warnings of not doing that, the Cycle Gear that I had mount it mounted it with the dot off from the valve stem and using 7 weights to balance, 4 on one side and 3 on the other. For the most part at normal highway speeds it rides fine but in the instances I'm doing 80 or more I get a buzz in the bars. Was thinking of going to Ride-on balancing gel but now I'm concerned if I need to pop the tire and align it with the stem or if the gel will compensate enough where it is without the weights on the rim. A lot going on here I know but I do know he had a hell of a time get it on. So my other question is then, if I do pop the seals without messing up the sidewalls with this method, will I be able to rotate the wheel inside the tire? Or should I just leave well enough alone until it wears out enough to change it altogether? Thanks for your videos and input.

      wow, there is a lot going on there. Yes if you break the bead and use some soapy water on the tire you can probably rotate the rim inside of the tire to line up the dot and the valve stem. Only word of caution is if you use something like balance beads on the inside of the tire try to not get that soapy water inside because it wont perform well with the balance beads. Maybe break the bead, rotate the rim with soapy water, let sit overnight to dry out then seat the bead and insert balance beads next day that way it dries out. I would use 3oz balance beads and start there to see if that helps.

      Yeah probably should have gone there but at the time it wasnt convenient so I went to a local Ace hardware.
