I listened to TOOL when I was your age and they are still my favorite band at 43yrs. I saw them live this year and last year which is amazing for a band to stay relevant so long.
Same here, I’m 39 been listening to Tool since the 90’s. Wish I had started listening to them earlier. Music that makes you think. By far my favorite active band! They are right up there with The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd as one of the greatest bands of all time!
This song from what I know is about his mellowing out with the birth of his son…. Right in Two and Wings for Marie part one and Two ( 10000 days) from this album are excellent songs… the second two need to be done together as the first song is really just the intro to the second…. A touching song from Maynard to his dying Mother who spend approx 10000 days in a wheelchair after suffering a brain aneurysm…sad and beautiful song
'Thats it?' You know its a good song when 8 mins have passed and you still want more. Their entire catalog is equally good, they don't have a bad song. I'm glad you're enjoying the journey so far.
They are masters of evoking emotion... That is the hallmark of great artists. Some bands get caught up their on ego and make it about them. Tool has shown they are about the music. I didn't have any idea what they looked like till the mid 2000's I only knew the music. Every aspect is written to draw you in. The rhythms, tonial structure, vocal effect, engineering, mixing, and lyrics all BEG for your attention and once you get hooked it won't let go till the ride is over. I have come to understand that this is uncomfortable for some. If you want music that is predictable that you can just forget is playing... Tool is not for you.
Tool literally doesn’t have a single bad song, they just have songs that you like more than others! I’d suggest: Swamp song Right in Two Pneuma Invincible H. 46&2 Ticks and Leeches Crawl away Also Check out A Perfect Circle and Puscifer
That opening! They come out fast and heavy, then get heavier. Then just when you think you got the beat you find out they were messing with you. Then it syncs back again. One of the few "positive" songs too. Like a love letter to MJK's son.
I would recommend only doing the audio versions of Tool songs like you did here, because the official videos are usually just distracting from the music and not super relevant to the songs

Fun fact Maynard heard Justin's bass riff for this and thought it sounded like the genie from pee wee's playhouse who was named jambi
That's Hilarious. I thought it was Bambi's brother's name.
I appreciate your appreciation of Tool 😁
Dont miss Right in Two or The Grudge. Also Eulogy and H, but you cant really go wrong with any Tool choice.

Yeah bro, Stinkfist.. do the lyric video and buckle up
It’s a love song ❤
At times, it sounds like Adam is strangling his guitar more than he is playing it. The tones he creates are so unique.
U r excellent at this for a young one. Keep it up.
