Sorry guys about the hiatus on uploads, content train starting back up again! Got requested to talk about the Intel 13th gen and 14th Gen I/O again, and also AMD fixed the 7900 GRE with a driver update?
Keep doing you , no need to apologize but it is appreciated. Take all the time for yourself. Time to make content and time to edit. We will be here still, waiting. 😅
I bought a Sapphire "Pulse" 7900GRE (black) for US$530 a little over 1 month ago; for my eldest teen. She loves that card...a huge upgrade from the RTX2080S. Pretty sure it has the latest driver, now.
Think the i7 and i9s 13th/14th have the 2 P cores clocked too high, lowering the clocks etc seems to fix it. I was thinking to upgrade 12900KF but seeing the issues, might wait it out for BIOS updates (or hop on AM5 next gen). GRE fix seems to have improved FPS, performing where it should be now.
12:06 there is also some kind of white liquid-like residue on the board traces if you look close at the bottom and on the right of the board. I had that on a board once too and it sometimes refused to post. I bought a circuit board cleaner and sprayed the board with it,brushed off that white stuff with a toothbrush and the board started to work properly again
When dealing with problems like this, it is helpful to have known working RAM module for testing. Also, before you start taking out components, it pays off to remove battery and short CMOS. After that motherboard would try to load default optimized settings for components it detects.
Might be worth externally reflashing the UEFI chip with an extracted image from that model's bios update utility, I have recovered countless "dead" boards, most of which reporting memory related errors.
That motherboard just need a flash bios with adapter, you remove bios chip from motherboard with hot air station, plug in adapter flash and back to motherboard and it wil work perfectly fine, cause win 10 and win 11 update bios on them own when doing update, I do hundreeds motherboard with same problems
Picked up a 7700 with a b650m aurus elite and 32gb ddr5.. solid setup and saved me an absolute fortune. Got from "pc hardware parts store" but as usual do your own research, expect the worst.. don't anticipate any warranty claims.
I just bought and assembled a PC with an Aliexpress combo. It is an X79 mobo and a Xeon chip, 8 core 16 thread. I bought 32 gigs of ram and put in a cheap power supply and a rx570 I had laying around in it with a new 1tb Team ssd. Runs great and gets 140+ fps in Warthunder. The temps are good. I got the combo on sale for $35. The board was made by Asus. I put it into a Cooler Master Masterbox Q300L case.
🙂 interesting u mentioned that board, on another budget pc channel a dude has an X79 Machinist Board and Xeon chip and he compared it to his Ryzen 5500 rig and it runs pretty close in most games, the board is 65 bucks and the Xeon chip is 10 bucks
@@MrSamadolfo I like to play war thunder. The the rig is playing war thunder at 100-130 fps, very similar to my 5500 on a B450 mobo with 16gb of 3000 memory. I paid about $35 for the chip and board. I spent $24 on 32gb memory. The chip is E5 2650 v2. I almost don't want to sell it.
As doing repairs, I would check the RAM power of 1.5V, the voltage for RAM could be missing. Usually there is a small DC to DC converter on the board, with a driver and two mosfets, the mosfets may go bad if RAM is shorted, and with them the driver, that can be ordered (for this is not expensive) or taken from another broken board. For this you need a letcon and a hot air station and a magnifier (or a small microscope), some soldering paste and isopropyl alcohol to clean afterwards.
Agree. I always try and test different memory before I move on to the CPU&motherboard and also clean the RAM slots gently as Tech Yes Man did with the CPU socket 😊
I have dealt with many Lenovo machines and boards.. they are all junk.. If they work they behave very strangely. Every Lenovo board I have seems to do some sequence of turning on and off after you plug it in before it will work. I had one that wouldn't post no matter what I tried then it sat for a while stored.. and suddenly worked again.
Still using two HuananZhi X99TF (ver.1 with C612 chipsets) motherboards since APR/MAY 2020, without any issues. Both are turbo-unlocked (E5-2678v3-12C/24T and E5-2696v3-18C/36T) and run cool...the 2696v3 never exceeds 53C at 20C ambient, even when fully stressed. The CRM's also run fairly cool...having checked them with a manual temp gun. Best part...they cost me $50 ea., delivered at the time. Reason...the first $100 order failed and, after a re-order and full refund on that initial order, nevertheless arrived at my door 3 months late. Today...I'd go with AM4 over X99, given the competitive cost/performance of the first platform. That being said, still very happy with my X99TF...paired with RTX2080Ti, 48GB DDR4 in 4 channel, and 40 PCIE lanes!
Yeah, some parts are just not worth the effort troubleshooting, especially when you can replace it for cheap. Z87/97 and B85 boards are readily available online and if you want to push your budget much lower, go for h81 boards
A CH341A programmer would be good having in your shop! It can re-program almost any BIOS/UEFI chip! It comes with a clip that attach to the chip dirrecly on the motherboard, there is no need to unsolder it (you still can desolder and erase it program it off board using a TSOP8 to SOP8 adapter then solder it back).
My guess (& I could be wrong) is someone static shocked the motherboard at some point. They failed to ground themselves to the case before touching it. I'm guilty of this too however so I understand in a way. You're focused on troubleshooting and/or anxious to play a game when you should be thinking safety through the whole process.
A tech yes video without seeing our main man til almost the end! Had me worried buddy. But you seem healthy and good - hope summer hasn’t been too much of a slog for ya. Almost winter for you guys!
I've had these RAM problems with some HP prebuild AMD machine. Took a look at the CPU pins and there was some corrosion. Cleaned the CPU and the motherboard socket with some CRC 5-56 and a brush, and the system worked with all 4 RAM sticks again.
I see quite a few of these 3rd and 4th gen intel motherboards, and like light bulbs in a house going at the same time, I have seen a few mysteriously die on me lately. Maybe just reached the end of their lives?
About the AliExpress Motherboards and CPU, I've bought a few of them (X99) and they are great for low cost PC. Just sometimes, the fan speed is not working, sometimes you have a different bios than expected on the visually identical motherboard, also take care if it's dual or quad channel. The best are quad channel X99 motherboards for cheap PC.
Now that the market is slow, could you please do some benchmarking on games running from striped (RAID 0) hard drives? It'd be interesting to see how that compares to running them from an SSD in terms of price/performance.
i run all my games from a 3.5 hard drive, a few games will have stutter but most games run fine, you just have to wait a few more seconds for the next scene to load up
What's that 4Pin on the right side, next to the motherboard power? With that weird adapter. Shouldn't it be plugged in? I know shit gets weird with these Lenovo, Dell, shit, HP motherboards...
I had the same problem, after buying a replacment mb all is fixed now both of them work just fine. must have been a ps issue or cpu wasn't seated correctly. well after giving it a week and powering it on it worked flawlessly.
I don't think 4th gen intel CPUs have the memory controller built into the CPU, so I believe the memory controller is on the North bridge controller on the motherboard hence bad mobo.
regarding those combos, how reliable are those chinese motherboards? Your previous videos shows they work but would like to know about their reliability. Thanks
🙂 no, the closest thing is "electronics cleaner" its in a spray can, just make sure its says that its safe for plastics or its going to burn the plastic
I have had MB didn't work they sat in a box for months then I try them again and they magicly start working again. Maybe try out all those MB that didn't work again.

I think u madena mistake. The 4 pin cpu was never connected to heging with. I could see it on the video. That is the beeping reason. Correct me if i was wrong
I had a set of G.Skill R1 DDR3 2133 4X6 24GB all fail at once I used my Ryzen boot drive to run on my X58 system and it had ARGB software when I accidently opened the software it instantly killed the ram thought I fried the system sent them in for RMA and got a brand new set back from G.Skill for the shipping cost

lol
Nice one😂👌

My best guess for the fingerprints is that someone had thermal paste on their fingers.
Enjoyed the Mega Man remixes. Just what I needed after a day at the office.
I was extremely worried seeing the heavy rust on various metal parts on the outside of the case... wasn't as bad inside thankfully!
Since its covered in pizza you should put it in the ultra sonic cleaner
Bryan man, been following this channel since 2017, love the tech yes loving!!

...is it worth it on a board this old?
Replacing would be quicker on these parts as they are plenty on seconds
@@jb678901 it is worth working an hour or two on it, if in this time you fix it, it's fine.
I would have tried a a completely different memory stick before pulling the CPU. Both sticks could be bad.
I was a tad perplexed why that didn't happen, unless he was out of known good DDR3🤔🤣

Hi King of the Aussies, much respect for your goodwill, I love you brother, stay safe and healthy - we need more of you in our lives.

I have dealt with tons of these boards, I think it is glue. They glue those plastic backs on and not very well.

As soon as I saw the MB and AVC cooler it took me back to my Acer desktop recycling days lol
was about to sleep, will watch this first though so my sleep will get tech yes lovin
Bryan I saw on that mobo an empty 4-pin connector, looks like the CPU power connector but could you tell us what does that do? Cheers.
That is Lenovo's on board power connection for the hard drives. They are not necessary.
Usually if the MB is stilling giving out beep code, there's still life in it. Pretty strange changing over every other parts doesn't solve the issue.
What's that 4Pin on the right side, next to the motherboard power?
With that weird adapter.

i cant find that spray to ship to the US or in the US at all...
I can't seem to get the cleaner you use from the US, do you know of a source? If not, what do you think is a good alternative?
Electronics Cleaner spray can, check the auto parts store, make sure it says 'safe for plastics'
it really amazes me how people spend so much money on a pc and they let it get this dirty! shame on them!
Out of curiosity, especially in a motherboard with only two RAM slots, why not try each stick in each slot (so 4 total attemps)?
I got a xeon e5-2650 v4 from ali express and the x99 motherboard for sub €60 and it works great. Only thing is ram can be max 2400MHz.
would not send my pc in such a filthy state and ask someone to fix it haha
I don't think 4th gen intel CPUs have the memory controller built into the CPU, so I believe the memory controller is on the North bridge controller on the motherboard hence bad mobo.
Intel moved the memory controller to the cpu since 2nd gen, that's why x58 was the last gen to have a northbridge
Another problem with a Lenogo. It's almost like there is a pattern with Lenogo hardware.

i don't recommend them if thats your main flagship computer, but if u have other computers in the house incase it fails then its ok for a pickup 👍
Those new Intel x99 mobo are really cheap in Ali express
We can’t get Multipurpose Cleaner spray in the USA 🇺🇸, but is WD-40 spray the same thing?
