With all due respect to the speaker, I would like to tell that all information given here is not true, like,
1. It is not mandatory to learn German to do a Ph.D. or Postdoc in Germany. So don't get confused. Only if you want to settle here then learning will be partly mandatory because it will help you in better communication.
2. The scenario to be an IIT/NIT faculty is pretty different for students from Engineering and Natural science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics etc.) background. This point was not mentioned.
