- Hey friends. This episode we are on the coast at Ōhope heading towards the more remote East Coast. Some great freedom camping along here, with good amenties. If you like free camping this is a great place to come minus a long weekend. All the info you need is in the video. Enjoy

It is going to be interesting watching the kids go through Correspondence School, seeing what things are different from what it was like back in the 90's as that was my high school for five years. I can tell you one thing. I was not given laptops, and everything was written out in workbooks on stapled together on black and white photocopied paper.
I don't know if they still do them but the one thing, I enjoyed was joining in on activity days where we got to go to different events with others doing correspondence in the same aera to spend the day together. Might be something fun for the kids to get involved in too.
Yes it will be interesting for us all. They have done a little bit of the work now. It helps they have laptops cause that's a treat to them.... I think they do online meet ups but I'm def keen for some face to face ones.

I'm glad you enjoyed ohope, with the little bay over headland you can walk over it there or park in the subdivision and walk down the hill. We would walk down the hill and spend the day on the beach.

Yea it's a stunning spot, surf was pretty quiet when we visited, it's always a safe beach, but I think we had exceptionally calm weather. Lots of great free camping options.

Hey Mate, the Drone has been a winner, thats the next video, I got a big big fish... Yea the batteries even though fully charged, will say, low battery, return to home, which makes me a little nervous flying out with it still saying that, but when I land, it goes right back up to almost full again.

We spent Labour weekend at a motorhome rally at Whakatane at a great freedom camp spot (Comfort Zone 4). I'm looking forward to your East Coast adventures because we've not done that yet. (We did dash up to Mahia Peninsula from Napier the other week)... some good freedom camping there :)
The East Coast has been amazing so far, we're still stuck in some bad weather though, but it was amazing for about 9 days.

Nice parking up by the beach. I've spent the long weekend in CHB. Did a job for Sloans and getting my Jeep back on the road which was still here. Sheryl Baylisd lent me her brother's campervan which has been an utter blessing. I've spent the day at Pourerere. A day at the river. Got stuck! Just had a lovely time while waiting for the Jeep to be fixed. Hoping to be back to Tauranga tomorrow.
Awesome prob a nicer day to travel tomorrow been rubbish weather out this way... we are hoping to visit some of the CHB beaches before going south

Is your coffee mug big enough?! 😂 Great vid as always. I remember going for a run along Ōhope beach at sunset; got a bit carried away and it got totally dark and it took me forever to find my car. Great walk between Whakatane and Ōhope; a bit sketchy in torrential rain and after sundown though 😬 Good to see you're getting fit; Blue Lake challenge on your radar next year? What's the 4G reception like at the camps you stayed there; that wireless nation gadget, does that give you better reception than your mobiles? Happy travels peeps!
Hey, the toi's trail between those beaches is closed due to a big slip, i've run it before, was a great run, a lot harder than I was anticapating. Yea the fitness is being hard, I'm doing keto so a little low on energy, so quite a bit of walking going on, legs are feeling good though... Will not be at blue lake next year unless travel plans change we're planning for the year in the South Next year. Reception was Awesome, Soph was watching Rugby I could watch video's no complaints. Working well on the coast as well

We were pretty stoked we could fit... pretty good asset to freedom camping really.. was nice that others made room so we could get everyone in.

Hey thanks for the comment we love the map as well, we actually just Google searched it and it came up at a pharmacy near wellington which we gad posted... I think Google is your best bet...

That is ridiculous price for a campground to charge!! I love your level lol. I use the caravan level app on my cell phone.
Yea for 5 ppl it's just to much almost on par with a cheap hotel... was 140 for 2 nights midweek so they just double it for a long weekend per night

Crazy the difference between the “most popular beach” in NZ and the one in NC. Looks much less crowded and built up over there.

Yea most popular as voted, to me this is a pretty standard beach, but lots of $$$ in Ohope houses well in the multi millions.... drone fishing I just flick the reel where I want it to stop and the tension pulls my line out from underneath via a small contraption this is the cheap version 😉 nect episodei catch fish .... Toby now wears all t shirts that pictures backwards lol...
You probably already know this Mike, you can down load a level app on your phone for levelling your van

Do you guys book anything in advance? We are doing Northland in January and have booked most stuff in pops etc but interested to see if we can wing some of it. January might be a bit too busy I think.
Nothing booked going to visit and stay with friends early Jan. Got 1 subscriber we are going to stay with in Blenheim when we get down south, by then will be around 20th Jan so spaces should start to open up again, hopefully not to many dramas.
