    Came here for the jeans review, had to watch twice because I was distracted by the gorgeous spitfire. Wish they were available in the States.
    I bought the John Doe Taylor jeans which are great. I got a 32/32 which is my usual size and you're dead right, a 30 waist would have probably been a better idea. I'll be getting some of these Defenders following your stellar review, but probably in a 30/30.

    I’ve ordered a pair of these, they look great and, as you say, have a triple rating. But, I don’t know if you’ve seen Bennett’s review and Hood jeans, both have done extensive research on single layer vs lined and both say lined are much safer. The triple A is a bit misleading. 👍

    • @SIMONB1
      @SIMONB1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey up Jeremy, nice pair of motorcycle pants, yes I've seen the Bennett's test, they didn't test any of John doe, yes the lined are safer 😁but you might as well wear your textile pants or leather and not bother buying the lined pants as there are no benefits😁, hope you like them, I do, ride safe, Simon B 👍

    • @jerhughes500
      @jerhughes500 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SIMONB1 I was just trying to point out the safety claims of being triple A, which don't seem to be quite what they are claiming. The Hood jeans tests are maybe more informative. I received a pair of John Doe today, ordered a 32" waist as I'm a 34" but they're too tight, I've read the sizing is a bit hit and miss.

    • @SIMONB1
      @SIMONB1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey up Jeremy, I've edited my reply it wasn't meant as a rant 😁, they tested roker jeans with the claim of AAA and they didn't fair much 🤔, having lined jeans is a bit like washing your feet with your socks on, bit pointless, I have single layer to keep cooler in summer, yes the sizes are a bit rubbish, mine are a 32 and could still go down a half size 😲

    I think some people's comments miss the point and they don't understand about the safety. Abrasion resistance is all well and good but most of the time the problems happen on the road when you hit solid things at speed. You can wear the most expensive airbag suit going and a £2000 helmet but often you will be hurt by impact. For me being comfortable in your bike clothing is important because all your concentration goes in to your riding. There are always advantages an disadvantages with all types of bike gear, but these trousers do look good for warmer rides

    • @SIMONB1
      @SIMONB1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey up Chris, can't disagree there, same in the winter regarding electric heated clothing, it's all about being comfortable and safe, but to get both it comes with a price that others would rather not pay, each to their own, have you got a pair of these ?

    The problem with all cargo style trousers is that in the event of an accident, they will ride up and the armour will not protect you if a loose fit. They’ll have limited impact resistance and wont provide anything like the abrasion resistance of a proper pair of leather trousers. Many textile trousers are similar if at all baggy. There’s very few well designed non leather trousers on the market so bikers are sold short on many makes irrespective of cost. These look ok but how they’d protect in a spill is the acid test. I’ve noticed a worrying trend towards what is stylish or comfortable at the expense of their primary goal of protection. Abrasion testing can be deceiving. Do they actually test them fir resistance against riding up? That’s more a fit issue so logically they ought to be snug or they’ll be about as much use as a chocolate teapot albeit better than denims.

      The fibre is treated for high surface tension so water will bead off. It‘s not a coating, you regenerate its „waterproofing“ with heat (i.e. a tumble dryer or a hair dryer). Works great for light rain, but nothing beats a proper rain onesie

    Nice pants but pricey and at a max size of 38 they don't go big enough for virtually all the bikers I know, including me. A shame really as I liked the way the legs were thinner than most and stretchy, For some reason trouser manufacturers seem to think that if you have a bit of a podge then you also have legs like tree trunks , I hope they add some larger sized versions soon.

    Just got my defenders and I have to say that I totally disagree with the review. The pants are not stretchy at all, these are my first AAA single-layer pants, so maybe compared to other similar products they are stretchy and comfy, but they are way more stiffer than most AA two-layer jeans. And don't believe the sizing in the video, they are smaller the usual. I wear a 33 waist size on a rare occasion(with some brands) 34, so when I heard that they are larger I ordered a size 32 and they are narrow for me, maybe if they were STRECHY then there wouldn't be an issue. Maybe they are more protective, but I'm overall disappointed in the pants because when you read the reviews, a lot of people say they are the most comfy pair of pants they have. If this is comfy then my previous 2 pairs of jeans must have been made by GOD himself. Again - maybe because my previous jeans were two-layer and AA-rated. The knee protectors that are shipped with the pants are small, they barely cover maybe 70-80% of the knee.
    One positive is that the fabric is nice to the skin's touch, nicer than my previous jeans.

    • @SIMONB1
      @SIMONB1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey up supersergej1992, supposed we are all entitled to an opinion 🤔, I find it hard to believe these aren't stretchy anymore 🤔, this video was made over 2 years ago and some people lately have said they are more true to size, but when I bought mine they weren't 😉, I would wash them first, as with snickers work pants I wash them before wearing them, I can't remember them being stiff when I purchased mine, i would say with all that negativity I'd be sending them back for a refund, instead of venting your frustration on my TH-cam channel 😁, i have no idea if they have changed manufacturer or even material supplier 🤔, give @johndoe a email and see what they have to say, mine are still the comfiest pair of jeans i own, there is one positive there so not too bad, thanks for venting, ride safe Simon B 😎

      Hey up James , great question, as I'm not a TT rider I can't answer that question, have you got a pair ?

  • @GBMatthew07
    @GBMatthew07 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    60 times stronger than leather means absolutely nothing when it comes to actual crash protection, it's the abrasion resistance which counts. Most of these items would be lucky to hit over 2.5 seconds in an abrasion test. Leather is still better no matter how all these companies try to spin it. Hell Bennets even proved this back last year with the abrasion tests.
    I'm sure you mean well and they are as comfy as you say but don't believe all the hyperbole these people come out with especially with regards to safety.

    • @SIMONB1
      @SIMONB1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey up mattgb, you picking on me 😉, things are moving on as said, some textiles are better than leather, and soon will be better 😲, I like to be comfortable nowadays and safe, these new materials make that happen, it's the individuals choice, as in this country the law states you only have to wear a helmet 😲, ride safe, Simon B 👍

    1:29 I wish people would stop repeating this ridiculous nonsense. No, they are nowhere near leather durability. Also, those D3Os, although comfy, are only CE1.
    In other news, RokkerTech are some of the poorer slide-performers even among motorcycle jeans, which any owner can attest after a slide.
    Watch Bennetts BikeSocial jeans test for more.

    • @SIMONB1
      @SIMONB1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey up impact0r, they are as durable to leather, prob not GP racers leather 🤔, as the Bennetts review, jeans with armour together will give you stated slide time, then it's down to who you believe 🤔, thanks for watching the video and dropping a comment, guess you won't be buying a pair 😉, ride safe Simon B 👍
