      I'd have thought the same before I came off in the PMJ ones. That's the same kind of armour, same level etc, and it did really well to protect me. May have been the way I fell though so can't be sure

    Hi Sam,
    I’m trying to find the top Roadskin sent you - I like it but i don’t see it on their page.
    I keep coming back to your review on the Taranis. I’ve watched it at least 3 times as I m still trying to narrow down to which jean i really would like to get. I’m trying to stick to AAA rated as well. I prefer lined however those are not going to be good for hotter days, which is why I am also looking at single layer AAA jeans.
    This is what is on my list:
    Hood K7 - i will be ordering
    Hood SK11 - not a fan of the fit but we’ll see, i prefer relaxed and K7 is that.
    Roadskin Paranoid - best for colder riding days
    Roadskin Taranis Elite - your review sold me on these - i will most likely order them, and i will be sure to use your code/link
    RST X Kevlar Tech Pro
    First MFG Interstate
    Trilobite 661 Parado Circuit
    You made a great point regarding how the aramid is woven in everywhere because the price point of the Taranis is $197 USD for me. The AAA protection is there as is the mesh liner. The last 3 jeans on my list, while they are AAA rated, the Kevlar is in the high impact areas only and they cost more than the Taranis. They also cost more than Hood and offer less protection. It makes me wonder how they can be AAA.
    First MFG is having a flash sale and i thought ‘ooohhhh, I’ll jump on that.’ While i was comparing their AA rated York (which is 100% Kevlar lined) to their AAA rated Interstate (which is 70% Kevlar lined and more expensive), I thought what really is the key difference b/t these two. I found out - the interstate offers 10% Cordura, York doesn’t have any Cordura at all. I found myself asking, ‘why am i even looking at these? Am i going to be able to wear these for hotter temps? Maybe i shouldn’t even bother looking at these.’
    Then i took another browse thru my list and started comparing alot, and i think the Taranis beats my last 3 choices on the list both in protection and comfort.
    I only wish we had a place in the states where i could try on Roadskin and other English brands so I could get the sizing right the first time. Fingers crossed i get the sizing right.

    I've just returned a pair because they were too tight on my legs. I don't think I have big legs at all, but I've tried the new the new Oxford AAA, Roadskins, Hood K7 and they're all far too tight on the quads/crotch area. I've also tried each of their straight fit variants but they remind me of flares i had in the 90's, it's so fruststing! I might try ordering a pair of roadskins with a 34" waist if you're saying that makes the thighs slightly wider, but it also cost me £5 to return them! Good video cheers.

    Have you seen Bennetts talk about how bad single-skin jeans are? Even the triple-A-rated ones? They did tests and they only last 2 seconds. I hate the idea of lined jeans but 2 seconds! I am definitely looking at these jeans though, what boots are you wearing?

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I can definitely vouch that they will last longer than that! My crash earlier in the year was single layer triple A rated jeans and I didn't have a scratch on me! That was a solid 10ft+ of sliding!
      To be fair, if you're away from the bike, you tend to roll down the road for the most part, so I doubt anyone properly slides on one patch for anything more than a split second. But they won't save a motogp style slide, but I doubt many things would besides full leathers.

      Haha! Yes I'd be too hot in any gear at 43°c I think!
      No problem! Happy to help

      @SamVBikes 1 last bit.
      When I was 20 and dumb I road in normal jeans and went down hard. 10 years on and my knee is sensitive to anything but the most comfortable armor. How is the stuff in the pants? Super comfortable or I might need to find something else?
      D30 can be a bit rough on my knee😅

      Ahh sorry to hear that! It's really comfy! It's almost like another layer of material between the jeans and the skin which means it's super comfy compared to normal bike jeans!
