Exploring Sunny Wales: A Ride to Bala
Hello, greetings, I am in the process of restoring one of these, could you tell me the name or code of the original colors. (yellow and blue) thank you
You can’t tell the difference between a lane and a farmer’s track without checking on a map. It’s physical appearance counts for nothing. A lot of legal lanes and byways are not metalled.
Slime Stone
I wanted to see the bikes not your face
Hey up Brian, sorry to disappoint, can't please everyone 🤷, but the clue is in the title 😉, thanks for the algorithm support, ride safe Simon B 😎
Thanks Simon, a really helpful video. I'm new to green laning and have been trying to get my head around which navigation app to use, gpx files etc. I've been thinking to myself does OS Maps work and you've shown it does, so for me this is the way forward...cheers mate. Dave B
Heg up Dave, OS maps work really well in the UK, it's not that expensive, I also use it for mountain biking, thanks for the positive feedback, thanks for watching and dropping a comment much appreciated, ride safe Simon B 😎
Wikiloc is a good resource too. It can be inconsistent so look for users with a good score. It's often argued by GLASS and TRF members that it's unreliable and can't be trusted which is a valid point. That said, i use Trailwise 2 (the mapping system used by GLASS) to find lanes and then i'll plot, record and share them on Wikiloc. I also find it more convenient to leave an up to date comment about the lane to help other cyclists/bikers/4x4's.
Who were those two blokes following you, were they you minders? I didn't think being a TH-cam content creator was dangerous!
Hey up Mr Jones, you wouldn't believe the dangers of being a TH-camr 🤭, four of us went they are my mates 🤣, have you been to EICMA ?
We have uploaded this video again due to a price of royalty free music, no longer being royalty FREE 😲, not else has changed, enjoy 👍, ride safe Simon B 😎
Thanks so much for posting this! I'm planning on cycling over here (as part of a coast-to-coast trip) and this was the perfect recce for me! Love the commentary and the calmness of your bike handling too. Looks a decent road surface and not too busy with traffic. Really enjoyed watching this :)
Hey up Keith, thanks for the kind words, really good surface at the moment 😲, have fun on your coast to coast, ride safe Simon B 😎
Hi Simon. Would there be a glove you can recommend for small hands/ shorter fingers??
Hey up Gavin, usually if you buy a premium glove, the sizing is usually better, so smaller hands have shorter fingers, I believe HELD gloves, they do short fingers in their gloves, you could try them, hope you get sorted, ride safe Simon B 😎
Trial wise 2 or trf which is better ?
Hey up Adam, if your riding bikes on the lanes then joining the TRF will be more beneficial, I believe the information given by both are the same for the lanes 😁, ride safe Simon B 😎
Hello Simon thanks for the video really enjoying watching. I have road bikes on and off road for a few years and can't decide between a wr250f or going straight for a 350excf. As you have had both bikes would you say the 350 would be more difficult to get used to than the 250? Thanks
Hey up Scotty, what can do a lot can do a little, so the 350 is a good choice, I started on a £2k bike, unlike some on a £10k bike so I wasn't afraid to drop it on the floor, which you will do 😲, that's the reason I got a 250, the 359 you'll soon get used to it, get it bought 😁, ride safe Simon B 😎
Seat wrong, no handle grip on side of seat rear light not quite right and no rack, but nice bike
Hey up Stuart, really it's the wrong colour, wasn't made in yellow as a 125 😁, the guy that rebuilt it liked the colour, ride safe Simon B 😎
Cool to keep in a support van I suppose. By the time it's put together, I'd almost have the job done (after decades of practice though).
Hey up, I know that feeling, I've always used tyre levers, it was a tenner so it will be a permanent feature in my garage 😁, ride safe Simon B 😎
I'm sure the councils wait for claims for damaged tyers etc before fixing the roads. Probably cheaper than employing someone to drive around for a surface check. Love these lanes.
Hey up, that could be right in a way, they have no money is the other reason 🤭, the lanes we have near are awesome, thanks for watching and dropping a comment much appreciated, ride safe Simon B 😎
Thanks. I've actually caused tendonitis in my hand trying to deal with the snatchiness of my big Triumph's throttle response and trying to blame myself/ ride around the issue. It's exactly at the spots you described it as being sorted for you after the booster plug install. I think it's the same issue. Thanks
Hey up, your bike will love it 😉, or the other option is to remap, but this option is cheaper 🤭, hope it sorts your issue, ride safe Simon B 😎
Thanks, Simon. A joy to watch during a dull October.
Hey up, thanks for watching 🤭, there's more like it on here 😉, ride safe Simon B 😎
Great Reviews by the way.. A+
Thank you, this video seems to be doing well 🤭, great gloves tho , ride safe Simon B 😎
Hi Simon, Does the Thola Gloves have a wiper to clean rain off ones visor?
Hey up stonecold2653, yes it has one on the left thumb, ride safe Simon B 😎
@@SIMONB1 Great ,will these gloves be good for say riding in 5 degrees weather?
@stonecold2653 will be great, even better if you have heated grips 😁
Holy shit...invisible cat at 0.14 secs in!
Hey up , Arthur likes the camera 🤭.
Great lanes as usual Si nice one mate 👍
Hey up Al, thanks for watching and dropping a comment much appreciated 👍, ride safe Simon B 😎
I had a white one. One of the most comfortable bikes I’ve ever ridden.
Hey up Derek, great bikes in the days , this one's now for sale if you fancy another 😉, ride safe Simon B 😎
so lucky to have the lakes trails on your doorstep - i do enjoy riding the 500 there, only manage it 2 or 3x a year as it's a fair old trip up , as for the miserable folk out there, modern times are draining as we know - who knows why they are sad but could be any one of a hundred reasons eh, #1 being the shi7e that is being paid high sums of money to run the country into the ground
Hey up ogasi1798, we are lucky to have all this very near, lots don't appreciate it tho 😲, and it's only going to get worse with the country ☹️, ride safe Simon B 😎
How much PS / HP does she (stock) have ? Best regards
Hey up tim , I believe stock, it has 12 hp, but capable of 20 hp, ride safe Simon B 😎
Simon B, they are miserable as they are not out on a bike getting cold, wet and covered in mud, that or people are just miserable generally 😂
Hey up theflyingbogie, seems to be a bit of a norm nowadays 😲, never used to be , not good , ride safe Simon B 😎
“Bloody Slippery As Buggery “ ...... Now there’s a Northern Phrase ! . I’m from South East England but always enjoyed my time riding moto-X “up north”... don’t call it God’s Country for nothing ! 👍
Hey up Gordon, can't beat the area, apart from the rain 🙄, thanks for watching and dropping a comment, ride safe Simon B 😎
Hi Simon, love your videos but have to say on this one the picture quality is really poor, had to stop watching it half way through cuz it was so blurry
Easy.... Go to your settings icon and change your frame rate to 720p. Bingo ... you can see clearly now 👍
Hey up Robert, shame really, I can't understand why, ist shot in the same resolution as all my others, and rendered the same, you should be able to get the settings up to 1080 dpi as I only render to 2 k not 4k, have a look at your player settings, the other is I may be riding too fast 🤭, ride safe Simon B 😎
Apologies Simon, sure enough it was my settings 🙄
@robertmobley7964 I was getting worried then, now I've got fiber installed at home all vids will be 4k now 😁, ride safe Simon B 😎
Think I’m going to give the Lindstrands gloves a try. I’ve got a Lindstrands Sunne jacket so I know their products are great!
Hey up coolixon, I also have the sunne suit, it's great, you won't be disappointed with the gloves 😁, thanks for watching and dropping a comment much appreciated, ride safe Simon B 😎
Hi Simon, I am just getting into Green laning and your vids are great. I am lucky to have someone show me around, but is there anyway to record the route I am being taken on, so I can re-ride it later? Thanks Steve
Hey up Steve, the os software will record a ride, when you start your ride , start the app recording, there's a few out there that do this 😁, you could use a smart watch if you have one , ride safe Simon B 😎
@ thanks Simon, much appreciated
Hello Simon thanks for all the great content. Would you say a ktm exc 300 is to much for a beginner starting out green laning?
Hey up Scotty, it will be a fair beast, take some taming, but what could can do a lot can do a little 😁, for a beginner with no experience it probably would be, really find a cheap 250 four stroke, you might not like off road 😲, hope you find something, ride safe Simon B 😎
Also have one I intend to restore. When I was 16 started with Honda mb 50 then Yamaha rz 50. Had quite a few bikes in my time when bikes were affordable but really had a blast with the Yamaha rz 50 and later on Yamaha Rd 350 ypvs. Best years the 80s. Hope this ts 125 can bring back some of the nostalgia
Nice, it is about the nostalgia, all the old bikes I have, I've owned years ago , trying to relive my youth 🤭, hope you get it restored, ride safe Simon B 😎
Nice bike si ,keep the 500 though 👍😂
Hey up Al, I'll be keeping the 500 😉😲😎
Was thinking of gifting the richa gloves to my bro. Are the sizes pretty accurate?
Hey up , the sizes are pretty accurate yes, I find that with most top end gloves 😁, he'll love them, ride safe Simon B 😎
Thanks! I’ve had instances particularly with astars, some models I’m a large and some a medium🤷♂️
Looks a beasts buddy
It is a bit of one 😁, ride safe mate, Simon B 😎
Hi Si, are you planning a longer Trip, perhaps abroad now you have a girl that will go the distance lol
Hey up Terry, hope you are talking about the new bike 🤭, yes hope to start the yet over in the french apls or the routes that Adam Riemann did when he came over to the UK this year 🤭, what have you been up to ?
@SIMONB1 will be good to see the trip. Got my KLR250 back after lost compression, rings and valves, she's like a spring chicken, more of my green lanes over here in Suffolk. While she was off the road, picked up an NC700x, road trip up to your neck of the woods next year. Ride safe
@terryforster9275 , nice, youll have to give me a shout when you are coming, I'll show you around if I'm about 😁, ride safe Simon B 😎
Congratulations on the bike I have one myself and love it. If your riding single trails that are greasy id always run 70/30 Tyres when offroad. Another couple of good options for the bike is the camel adapter for the clutch so it only needs 2 fingers. Also i bumped my front sprocket down to 14 teeth to get that extra low down torque in the tight stuff. Abs off on the rear/ front always on when off road plus im always in rally mode off road with my traction control set around 2 or 3 That extra windshield you have attached will work better if you tilt it back around 45 degrees. Enjoy fella.
Hey up Ragnar, thanks for the tips, are you running tubes ?
@@SIMONB1 Heya,Yes i do run tubes as nothing worse than taking a hard knock to the rim and not being able to fix it. The tyres I use are tubeless but also able to run tubes.
That stall is same as mine they stall very easy even sat in first gear let the clutch out fast it stalls with out even moving
Hey up Stephen, think it's a KTM thing 😲, my 500 does it all the time 🤔, thanks for watching, ride safe Simon B 😎
Hi Si, I'm glad you're getting to like your new beast. I've got the 890r and from Barrow, so maybe we could organise a ride out. I've been on most of the lanes you do, but I'm sure you'll know some I don't.
Hey up tagrach69hope, that could be an idea, thanks for watching and dropping a comment much appreciated, ride safe Simon B 😎
Lovely bike!! I have recently got a 1090R and find it so capable am riding it more than my 690…
Hey up Scott, great stuff, they are capable bikes, and good all round, thanks for watching, ride safe Simon B 😎
Rode one at Sweet Lamb with a semi worn out set of Dunlop 908 Rally Raids - I came away very impressed.
Hey up, seems ok at the moment, just got to get used to it's size ☺️, when you getting one ?
@ I’m getting the CF Moto 450 as I also have a Tuono 660 factory in the garage. Similar bike, but a bit lighter and with less power, which is better for me on the byways.
Congratulations on the new bike!
Thank you sir ❤️
You planning on putting a Garmin on that mount Si? I've got a Zumo I'm not using if you want to try it?
Hey up Mr Mick, not really thought about that yet, I did look at them some time ago, then opted for is maps are they any good for off road ?
I was looking at Snickers but ended up buying Englebert Strauss (even though I get a 20% discount on Snickers). Nothing against Snickers, I just thought the other brand suited my needs better. I face the public a lot and technically should wear a full uniform but so long as my trousers are black I can get away with wearing my own and thought the Strauss ones looked more presentable. I haven't seen any Englebert Strauss reviews. Anyway Snickers seem to be good trousers and thanks for the review. I was torn between the two brands but they had to be all black for my job. BTW I believe the knife is Hultafors, they make excellent axes too. 🙂
Hey up , sounds like you got the right pair to fit your needs, I've seen the Englebert ones they make great boots also 😁, thanks for sharing your thoughts, ride safe Simon B 😎
Funnily enough I saw this last week and entered the spark competition last night and won one 😎
@@simonworthing hey up Simon, awesome 😎, got to be on it to win it 🤭, congratulations, ride safe Simon B 😎
Good video, temped to buy one, but🤔just not sure…
Hey up David, they should be a couple of grand cheaper than they are, I'd have another 😊, get one bought, can't take it with you 😉, ride safe Simon B 😎
