  • What I'm reviewing today is a product that I have been using for many years - I absolutely love it and I think you will too.
    For some, it will be a game-changer as it makes camping in hot conditions a possibility and get this, it's light weight, takes up little space and is inexpensive.
    I purchased this fan back in 2020 and have been thankful to have it on virtually every single one of my warm weather trips.
    I take it backpacking, truck camping, overlanding across the country and on warm evenings, I plug it in and it helps me get a good night’s sleep.
    This is a USB powered fan from a company called SmartDevil and in this episode, I’m going over why I like it so much.

    SmartDevil USB Fan Details
    Power : USB from power bank, cigarette chargers - basically any USB power source.
    Colors : Navy Blue, Natural White, Light Brown, Dark Green, Cherry Pink - this is Navy Blue but I have to say the Dark Green model looks awesome. I’m a sucker for green.
    Cost : Depending on color, $13 - $15
    Dimensions : 4.72"D x 4.72"W x 1.97"H
    Weight : 6oz
    Claimed Features :
    45” cord
    Fan rotates 360
    Company says it is environmentally friendly but doesn’t state how. I call BS on that one.
    Ultra quiet - on low it’s not bad but it’s not ultra quiet - Medium and high are definitely audible with high be loud.
    Rubber feet keep it in place on a lot of sources
    Compact design doesn’t take up much space
    Lightweight - easy to carry with you backpacking as it weighs so little.
    Works with the vast majority of power sources

    I would like to mention that this fan is also very helpful in the winter pushing the heated air from my Mr. Buddy heater down from the tent ceiling to the tent floor where I’m sleeping.
    Thanks for the great videos

    Another benefit I haven't seen mentioned - they do a decent job of reducing the amount of time to dry out small items of clothing. It may not seem like much, but dry socks or t-shirt can make a big difference in comfort level.

    I bought this the same day this vid dropped. It's exactly what you said. The low setting is all that needed inside a tent. I hooked it up to a 15,000MaH battery bank and just let it run on the low setting. It uses just under 2% of that battery Per Hour. Technically, this thing can run on low with that 15k MaH battery for 50 hours. That's 5 nights of sleep with spare juice for, like, 6 naps. Ha.

    Airflow during the hot summer months can't be understated! I have a usb charged, battery operated oscillating fan with a sleep timer and light I use in my camper trailer to keep the air circulating. I'm not a fan of corded fans, so having one with it's own independent battery makes it more convenient.

    SOLD! As a diabetic who has a finite window for comfort, I have a problem with heat in the Georgia summer. I just bought 2 of them for $34 from Amazon, a green one and a tan one. What a small price to pay for comfort for myself and my lady when she comes along with me on adventures! You're a good salesman, Luke! Rock on, brother!

    And that is yet another reason why I follow your channel. I will order one of these because you have tested it over several years unlike some product reviewers that give a full review after one outing. Thanks Luke, as always appreciate your agenda free reviews.
    Have fun on your adventure with Susie. Stay safe and God bless.

    I have a couple of these, and they do work well. I have one permanently mounted in the back of the SUV to push the AC back into the area where the dog rides in the far back, and it works very well to keep the dog cool. They have enough zip that you can even stick them in an open window to help in ventilating a room. I will say that when traveling either bring a power bank or an extension cord for your USB charger. The cord is long, but I find where you want the fan is often not conveniently close enough to a plug.

    I have had mine for over a year now and love it. I use mine next to my chair and bed to circulate the air a bit more.
    It isn't "ultra" quiet, but it's not too bad. Seriously considering getting another. 👍👍

    Hi Luke, after this review I decided to purchase one of these fans and I have to agree that this little unit is great. I needed to replace a larger fan in my truck camper and have a USB power outlet in the camper to power it. The power consumption is low and performance is great. Thanks for your great reviews.

    I own that exact fan and have it on my desk at work. It's always a little too warm there for my liking. As soon as I get there in the morning, that fan goes on aiming at my head. And it stays on until I go home. It's been wonderful. I plug it into one of my computers USB ports. Totally agree with the review. Definitely worth the money.

    Follow up on this item. I had bought one of these at time of review and used it a bit at work and home. I had to go for orthopedic surgery a couple weeks ago and brought this for my hospital stay. This was a life improver while there. Not overly loud but powerful and kept me cooled off. I appreciate this recommendation from many months ago

    Don’t know the brand, but I got mine at Academy. It has an internal rechargeable battery (micro usb), has a loop hook on the top, and larger claw hooks on the bottom. I love it for car camping. It will run most of the night on high, but by morning I’m a little cool anyway. Your little fan inspired me to get one for myself. I may buy a Smartdevil in the future for when I need something lighter! Thanks!!

    I saw you using that fan in a video about a year ago and saying how much you loved it. I went to buy it on Amazon and ended up getting a different model from the same company. I bought the model F04 'Upgraded Camping Fan'. Mine is about 6in across and has a base instead of a frame. The fan tilts 180 degrees on a hinge. The base is flat on the bottom but has a semi-circle hangar that is flush with the base when closed and has a spring opening so it can be easily hung from a line in the tent. The biggest feature of the model I got, in my opinion, is the 6000mah battery built in - with a USB-C port to charge it and a USB-A port to allow plugging in other devices to charge. I don't ever use it to charge other devices but I love the USB-C port. Also, the outer ring of the fan is an LED light. Not very bright, but plenty for a tent at night.
    I love my version because it's a single item that I can charge at home and use on a trip without any cables. If I do run it dry, the same cable that charges my phone will charge the fan.

      @dniemi58 ปีที่แล้ว

      @dniemi58 My kitchen scale says 18.9 ounces. Probably not the best for backpacking, but I throw it in the back of the Jeep with everything else. My Jeep can handle the weight easily 😉

      I like the sound of it, but how much did it cost you? thank you in advance

  • @ComandoWitty
    @ComandoWitty ปีที่แล้ว +3

    My 25 cents: I am someone who NEEDS a fan. Partially for the sound but mostly because I cant stand the feeling of not having a breeze. Everyone has their own needs, comforts and preferences. After watching this channel for a bit, I notice you mold many of your products around usb and it's probably the best idea. As someone who's slowly building their stockpile of equipment for camping, I'm coming to the point where i think investing into a power station or some battery source is the best idea. Especially when I camp with multiple of people in rustic style.
    Originally I got an offbrand rechargeable fan and honestly I love it. It holds a 5000mah battery and lasts a long time. I literally left this fan at a friends house for a few months and it still held a charge. Has a not to increase fan speed which is great because you aren't limited to a few options of speed. My main focus was to get a fan that I could use to charge my phone. It works well and can charge a like 3 phones fully, but this isnt ideal when you're out for days. So i'm honestly too considering switching to the powerstation idea. I would be able to do far more. Now spending many grands for a decent one isnt my first idea xd

    I have an AMACOOL fan that i use all the time. It says camping fan but has a base that allows it to be hung by a hook, hung on a wall with screws or as a free standing fan. It is rechargeable and quiet and definitely moves air. Around $25 and after 4 years still works great.

  • @AmberInAppalachia
    @AmberInAppalachia ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have the BLBS 12000amp fan. It's larger because it has a 65hour battery, LED light, and will clip to the top of your tent, but I did go backpacking with it, and actually am again in a few days, and it's been great! It really makes a difference in the southern heat at night when sleeping in a tent.

  • @chalion8399
    @chalion8399 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I particularly like my 4" clip on fan because it can use both 2-18650 batteries or micro-usb cable for power. It has dual swivel so it can be pointed into any direction. The nicest thing is that it can be folded down flat for storage, but the base is a bit thick to hold the 2 batteries. I've used this thing for 5 + years and it still works like new. I don't know the company that makes this thing as it doesn't have any branding I can find as I got it as a present years ago. It uses a potentiometer dial for speed control and does push a good amount of air.
    I'm not able to find pictures of this fan, so I guess the maker is long out of business.

It has a hook for in a tent, it can stand on it's base, or has a strong clip to attach to a table, lawn chair, etc. USB chargeable, and it can be used while charging. I'm impressed so far.

    Hey Luck, you said it would be great if it had feet on the side, I once bought some very small circle rubber things with tape on the back in a hardware store for like 2$ for a pack of 16 I think. You could put 2 rows of 2, it would work the same way the original feet do. They are made to glue under kitchen appliances and cutting boards. Work great.

    Ha ha, here I thought I was the only one who praised this little fan. I should be a salesperson for this company. I got one years ago (3 or 4 maybe?) and it is the best little tent fan ever! My wife got one, my buddy got one, they are amazing, I use mine on a powerbank and it goes forever.

    Wow, I just stumbled upon your video titled "outdoor" and I must say, I'm truly impressed with the amazing content you've created! The shots of stunning landscapes and thrilling outdoor adventures had me hooked right from the start. As an avid ebike user, I was thrilled to discover your new crowdfunding project featuring Freebeat's Morph 2-in-1 e-Bike. The fact that it can be charged indoors is a game-changer! I can already envision the convenience and versatility it brings to my cycling routine. The brushless 750W motor and impressive top speed of 20mph are definitely outstanding features that caught my attention. I'm truly excited about the endless possibilities this e-bike offers. Great job on creating such an informative and engaging video! Keep up the fantastic work!

    Bought one based on this review, decided to buy a second after receiving the first. Puts out a good amount of air for being USB. According to my Pecron battery its using like 1-2 watts. Will last forever on my solar battery. Comparison my tower fan uses 65 watts. So it's a great low wattage backup fan.

    We have one and it works fine in hot weather in my opinion. We have an almost unmodified van we camp in that the only mods are a queen bed platform and no back seats in our old Econoline stretched E-350. Purchased 2 years ago this way. Yes we have had the motor on and car AC on to get the cooling before we sleep for a few minutes but used the fan afterward to keep our air flow - we have yet to get the vents like you and Susie have in your transit van (hard to find accessories for old vans cheaply and easily).

    Neat product & I agree on hot humid nights… fans can be a game changer. I personally have a Claymore branded fan - made in Korea, built in battery, removable tripod, USB C charging, four fan speeds and up to four hour time auto turn off allowing me to fall asleep and have it turn off after some time to save battery if I choose. They are excellent products. I highly recommend the unit I have to anyone.

    Very cool, I have been looking at picking up a fan to use with my Jackery 500 and my new FATORC 100W portable solar panel when I am car camping in my canvas tent.

    You got me, I ordered it. I could power this with my solar panel, no problem. I have a folding 63 watt solar panel that I carry everywhere. If I'm camping, I'll use it to charge my powerbank during the day, and use the powerbank to charge my phone at night.

    The smartdevil came in today and it’s exactly like you said. Gear 1 is great for low noise and sufficient cooling. If it’s hanging it makes even less noise.

    Useful video, thanks I have one of these and had not thought about using velcro to attach it to fabric of tent etc. I will do that today.
    The other thing with circulating air is that it could help with condensation. I will have to try it now rainy season has arrived.
    You talked about having feet on the sides. I had a couple of thoughts for mods. First you can by those little self adhesive furniture cusion pads you get to stick on the bottom of chair/table legs. Second, you could put some velcro onto one side of the fan to also increase the directions you can point it.
