i had a Iv 1042 pu sniper. it has its original ww2 stock where the spot with the pin holes was just filled with scrap wood!

Out of curiosity, what is it that made the former Soviet Union decide to convert snipers to ex-snipers? Did they need the optics for other purposes? Were the optics damaged / destroyed and they just didn't want to replace them? I've always been curious why the Soviets retrograded so many of these rifles.

Big Sam, I have combed through your videos and wanted to know if you have information on the Remington Armory 1918 mosin. I recently purchased one but can't find much information. You seem very knowledgeable and hope you can help.
As best I can tell mine is not fin marked nor does it have import markings.

I got a 1939 pe izzy with a circle C, and the assembly markings behind the recoil lug. I was wondering if you had any answers for this as izzy supposedly didn't make any snipers and the mounts used was the pem.

On my 1943 Tula rifle, No. MT 423, with a PU sight, there are 4 through holes in the receiver, two threaded for screws and two for pins, so that the presence of through and non-through holes is not a way to determine the factory where the rifles were released.

When he was speaking about the pin holes not being drilled all of the way through on a Tula he was referencing the PEM. Yours is a PU.

I believe i have a 1943 experimental mosin nagant 7.62x54r. It's war time used it has the exposed barrel with no wood cover on the barrel. I would appreciate your help in getting it identified precisely. Any help would be appreciated.
