    The ultimate Mosin Nagant action rifles were made in Finland. All the receivers were old, US or russian manufactured. Barrels , sihgts and stocks were Finnish produced.

I must agree with this. Not every Mosin is made equal but the best are surely made in the USSR.

    We have all seen at least a few smooth bore Mosins, both of my Mosins have rifling left on them,but when I see a smooth bore it’s cool because that’s its own story.

    Have you considered doing a video demonstrating how to install the accurizing kit? There are a few out there but the camera angles are not great.

    Great talk. just one thing is that Tokarev seems to shoot a 307/308 projectiles instead of a .311-312 as mosin do. Even they are all "7.62mm".
    I don't have a nagant revolver, so I can't have any comment on that. But my TT33 surely shoot a 307 projectiles. I am not sure if I m correct or not, just need to find out.

    My 1943 mosins bore looked like a sewer because i think they had shot corrosive ammo. Now there is pitting in the barrel but the outside looks good

    Love Mosins but other than the 2 Finnish I own I have yet to get one to shoot worth a crap. I average 6 inch group at 100 yards. I shoot the military service rifle matches and have shot many 1 1/2 to 2.0 groups at 100 yards with Swedish, Swiss and 03A3 rifles.

    Have you ever seen a M38 or M44 sniper? I imagine no M44 due to bayonet but a short m38 would make a handy rifle tbh. Did any country ever do that?

      some 91/30s were cut down to carbines. perhaps you could get an ex sniper that was cut down... very unlikely i'd say

    I am interested in what the twist rates are. Specifically, looking to get my first mosin, dated 1897. I am trying to figure out the best bullet weight to shoot. Looks like 7.62x 54r come in 125g to 180g. Guess I just have to try them all.

    How do you clean, De-Cosmoline your Mosin Rifles?

    • @slardebard
      @slardebard ปีที่แล้ว

      Start with solvent on the barrel to get oil and fouling out. Because of the corrosive ammo finnish with warm soapy water for the barrel. The salts they used in the primers was so corrosive warm water dissolve those salts. Clean the chamber, bolt face and barrel with this technique. The rest of the rifle can be cleaned like any other. Remember to clean it after every time you shoot and don't wait long because corrosion can set in quickly and destroy the rifling.
      If you use modern non corrosive amm clean it like any rifle.
      All surpluses ammo is corrosive for these rifles.
