This song meant a lot to me. I went thru a lot with my first husband. He abandoned me and my 4 little kids. but I put on my big girl panty's and worked 3 jobs I was both mom and dad 30 years later my babies are Awesome adults and even better parents. I wouldn't trade those hard times for anything. thanks Tracy for keeping hope in my heart
Sometimes great music like this can inspire us & help us get a grip on life's shit, enjoy your children & your life,I'm one of life's cynics but music can still melt my heart & turn me all mushy lol
I love this so much, it's just so, real. It's not a song, it's just a tale of a poor woman's life trying to find a way out. It's got so much emotion that it's just so perfect.
+30secondstomarsMBH I felt the EXACT same way listening to this. It's such a perfect example of story telling through song. Such a beautiful, emotionally saturated song. Can't help but almost get teary eyed listening to it. Also, I love your user name, 30 STM is life =)
+30secondstomarsMBH That was actually exactly what a song was. When they were originally made, songs were almost always just stories, tales of lives from poor people, rich people, warriors, farmers, priests, city men and country women, lived by people, sung by minstrels, stories of lives in distant places, long epics, short songs. As time went on, particularly, in more modern times (maybe even as early as a hundred years ago) as it became easier and easier to get paid making music, and the saturation of the market (with the coming of the internet) music began to lose quite a lot, culminating in what we so abrasively call music today, like Whip My Hair Back and Forth, and My Humps
RaveriusMax Well, I like My Humps. I think music is just something with a beat and singing that impacts you well enough to want to listen to it again, whoever you are, so I could like a song but you could not and I could be the only person who likes, but it's still music. But yeah, I get you. I don't think it's satuarised , I just think it's become more accessible and there's more diversity.
+RaveriusMax You've never heard any instrumental music from before 100 years ago? Also, easier to get paid to make music? Haa. Hahahaha. No. It's a lottery and a ridiculous pyramid scheme rolled into one to try to make it these days. Getting heard? Sure. Wonderfully easy, and if that's all you're after, it's paradise. But getting people to buy your work without the promotion of a good label and airtime is like asking them to donate their organs, and the money you sink into it will almost certainly not break even with your sales. Regardless, don't be so negative - there will always be music, some of it you might not like, but it's not necessarily made for you specifically. If you aren't hearing what you like, why don't you make some yourself and share?
Can you guys feel why this is so much better?. camera pans out and no fucking cell phones or ipads in the air.. just hands clapping to how good a song this is
Armand Jason Salva It appears that events\shows\places or whatever have turned into opportunities to promote the self through social media channels. It's all "look where I've been", "see what I've done", etc...individualism is running rampant.

Absolutely ☺😀 She's got such a great voice. I've liked this song since I was young. As I became older and had my first serious boyfriend he became like the male in the song Tracy Chapman is singing about. You've got a fast car is it fast enough so we can fly away, You've got to make a decision leave tonight or die this way..them lyrics and if you've no job or plans so take your fast car and keep on driving is so my ex. I was the female in the story wanting to get myself to be some one. Too bad that I'll always better myself and my ex will never be successful as his just an idiot. I'm going places again..a new opportunity has presented itself to work. I'm stoked for this to happen. About time it starts to get better 😀💖
This song just evokes so much imagery for me. I never understood this song when I was younger, but now whenever I listen to this I'm always touched by it. The lyrics are so amazing.
Abubakr Galant While she sounds as if she has lived the song, I don't believe it is actually about her. She has never been married, doesn't have kids and I saw an interview about her once where she said she keeps her private life totally separate from her public life.
Michael Pollock The way I hear it. It's about a convenient store/supermarket clerk who falls in love with a married man based on the car he drives. he gives her a ride home once and she starts talking about her father, he sleeps with her and promises to leave his wife and kids but he never does. Since she keeps her private life private, there is no way to prove that she hasn't worked a checkout in order to support her music career.
I lived on a ranch, with my boyfriend and his friend, we were all on drugs and he would beat both of us, my friend showed me this song and told me it reminded her of herself..she had to take care of her dad....her dad had also beat her growing up...music got me through my addiction and my abuse...this is one of the songs. It gave me hope, her and I both got into the fast car 🚗 and left. I have 5 years clean in March.
A song packed with pure emotion. You can feel the beating heart in the drums..You can hear the aching heart in her voice. What's better an excellent? "Fast Cars", by Tracy Chapman!

Being like FJ is clueless as you say. It must be like being born without taste buds. Plus I am sure he/she is a troll! So that's 2 strikes.
It's hard to believe this song is from the 80's. It sounds so timeless. I remember first hearing it when I was a mere tween in the mid-2000's and thinking it was a new song.
+MrStefan124 Just heard it like a day ago and wasn't sure if it was old or new. lol This song sounds so sad, though. It truly makes you feel like garbage.
I always believe that a true test of talent is when a singer sounds just as good live as they do in a studio. And Tracy fucking smashed it on that stage. Awesome
The way she says ”I” is so sweet. ”I had a feeling I could be someone.” Just by feeling that you are. You are the way you feel. So simple, yet so profound.
To all the Tracy Chapmans out there who are stuck at a dead end job and not fulfilling your musical dream, hang on your time in the sun will come soon. You are already shining anyway
You're comment gave me chills and brought a sob to my heart. Thank you for so encouraging and not buying into all the negative comments people so often leave.
I feel there are many jimi hendrixs ,jim morissons and tracy chapmans working either at a gas station or doing dishes or doing nothing that would really bring their talents and special hearts and minds to the light. How many of those stories, those diamonds are never found.Thank you for your kind words.
Love Tracy cause her songs always mean something. That longing of going away from a bad place/situation and trying to do something with your life.... It always gets me... That's the difference between Songs with Soul and today's songs with booty....
This is when music told a story...back before mass production and auto tune became the norm and considered "talent". That's why the greats will last forever and the Miley's and Taylor's will be easily forgotten...
Aimi Mori Calm your shit you internet gangster. He did'nt say anything about this generation of music being fucked. Get outta here with your snowflake shit.
Think we've all been there once in life. This song has a lot of significance for me, not a driver but brings me back to a time when I was struggling to bring my son up in the midst of a volatile relationship. Now at University and hoping to qualify in Special Needs Education, son is at school doing well and hoping to go to University to study media. Love the simplicity of this song
An extraordinary life and an extraordinary artist. Unconventional yet made herself rich by speaking her mind of poverty. Absolute legend. All the best Tracy you go like you have made everyone feel. ...
You crack me up. Some things are eternal. This song reaches into my soul. Amazing. I love it that when I hear her live she changes it subtly from the recorded version - like something live, it evolves.

Days in war torn country, caught up in devastating poverty and conflict. This was ma song that used to give me hope one day I will escape out and drive on an inter state highway while the city lights lay a head of me. The wishes and the dreams given to me out of this song came true now for me. I live in the US. God is merciful.
What makes this song so great is that she sings it nearly identical to her album from April of 88'. She is such a creative artist and adds an endless depth of soul to all her music, you can't help but feel every word of her lyrics. I have loved her music since her "Debute Album", clearly her soul nor her voice owns any depth.
+AbbyNormal777 +Vykier is right hun, think of today, everday is an oppurtunity to change. Tomorrow can be bright, nothing is set in stone. I hope you find happiness
+AbbyNormal777 find the thing that gives your life meaning - outside of earning money. Maybe its the music? maybe it's learning how to program a sequence of something? You've got all the answers to your life in yourself.
My mom used to say chicken soup was good for almost everything, didn't matter if it was a cold, a broken hart, a headache or a heartache, a cup of mama's selfmade chicken soup would cure it for sure.......
+Jog Singh This song tears me up too. I HAD A Fast Car an remember listening to this song for about the first time driving over some bridge in D.C. thinking this is about me. Today I went to the food bank as I have for years now. guess I didn't play my cards right! But I'm thankful for the food banks, and hope I don''t end up in a shelter somewhere! DO RIGHT - Don't blow your money if you have any, and God Bless!!!
wannabrich Well as it says, older yet wiser in life. Life teach us lessons. If we don't learn and continue the same, we have ourselves to blame and not others.
+Jog Singh Truer words were never spoken. I guess i am a slow learner, just turned 50 and mailed AARP their fucking card back, LOL! I think i am finally learning. But why, oh why, is youth wasted on the young> LOL!
What happened to music? even the "Good" artists do not sing about such things. Musicians today, Rap, Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Country whatever... they are all about money and not about life experiences or about the music, not about helping the people. i listen to todays music in hopes to find an ARTIST. I personally think ARTISTS died out early-mid 90s. It is truly sad.
+Timothy O'B Hi, you should listen to Sara Bareilles, Florence and the Machine and Tori Kelly. Even someone as big as like Taylor swift have songs with so much substance. And if you're talking about artists that are not conventional, look at Lady Gaga (yes, I'm using her as an example) - she looks crazy all the time but she have songs that hit home, at least for me. And I can bet all my money that there are actually many more artists with substance these days. So, I'm not trying to bring you down or anything but I think you should do more research before making such a bold statement. Good day
myredscarf ha, I will look into your artists. And yes you are 100% right there are artists, still today who play great music. I was a bit critical when I wrote this. Thanks for pointing it out without yelling at me like a savage lol
The thing is you gotta look real hard for that good stuff the artists are not accountable theres many that still make good music.. But we all know what labels are pushing
+Timothy O'B I am a DJ and I think I know a lot of music and I must say that you are absolutely right. THERE IS DEFINETLY A HUGE DROP IN QUALITY of popular music. Anyone with the slightest taste and knowledge cannot deny this. Don´t be fooled by people who say ohh its not like that... they just dont know shit. If you have been growing up listening to shit you cannot differentiate between the real and garbage. Its like saying a well prepared meal by a proper cook with fresh ingrediens is the same as a McDonalds menu. Its NOT But here and there you can find something real... but its very rare. Like Benjamin Clementine for example!
This song will always be in my heart. The night my grandmother died, I got into the car. Turned on the radio and this song started. She was my rock. Now i have a beautiful son. Who she never met, but he will know who she was. I know she is proud. Still everything i do is for her and her husband.
She's a huge talent! I'm an even bigger fan after discovering that she dated Alice Walker, author of the book (later made into a movie starring Oprah) -- The Color Purple.
"Fast Car" You got a fast car I want a ticket to anywhere Maybe we make a deal Maybe together we can get somewhere Any place is better Starting from zero got nothing to lose Maybe we'll make something Me myself I got nothing to prove You got a fast car I got a plan to get us out of here I been working at the convenience store Managed to save just a little bit of money Won't have to drive too far Just 'cross the border and into the city You and I can both get jobs And finally see what it means to be living See my old man's got a problem He live with the bottle that's the way it is He says his body's too old for working His body's too young to look like his My mama went off and left him She wanted more from life than he could give I said somebody's got to take care of him So I quit school and that's what I did You got a fast car Is it fast enough so we can fly away? We gotta make a decision Leave tonight or live and die this way So remember when we were driving driving in your car Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder And I had a feeling that I belonged I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone You got a fast car We go cruising, entertain ourselves You still ain't got a job And I work in a market as a checkout girl I know things will get better You'll find work and I'll get promoted We'll move out of the shelter Buy a bigger house and live in the suburbs So remember when we were driving driving in your car Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder And I had a feeling that I belonged I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone You got a fast car I got a job that pays all our bills You stay out drinking late at the bar See more of your friends than you do of your kids I'd always hoped for better Thought maybe together you and me find it I got no plans I ain't going nowhere So take your fast car and keep on driving So remember when we were driving driving in your car Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder And I had a feeling that I belonged I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone You got a fast car Is it fast enough so you can fly away? You gotta make a decision Leave tonight or live and die this way
@Danny Russell you never had to "find" em before..🤷 90's was the last decade of music..now it's all bullshit, it blows my mind how ppl can listen to that shit now..
Back in the 80,s when there wasn,t much more than keyboard songs along came this lovely lady and her acoustic ballad.I was so relieved to hear her and this wonderful song .
How do you dislike something like this....really how do you? Its pure and heavens made voice. Natural!!! Simply you don't have a heart that's why you disliked
+Kevin. K Uanivi they dislike because they have different taste. imo the only thing heartless is not accepting different opinions. btw, amazing song isnt it :)
I don't have a great relationship with my father due to his alcoholism...and because of it I don't have a great relationship with my mother either. The alcoholics leave a trail of destruction behind them that impacts everyone. It wasn’t until I found the Tracy Chapman classic, Fast Car that I realized I wasn’t the only person who felt this way, and that I wasn’t wrong for not loving my parents entirely … Do I love my father? I’m not sure love’s the right word. I know that you should love your parents, but it’s a two way thing and towards the end of every day he wasn’t showing any love to me, he wanted me to suffer. He never got his priorities straight. Always put the bottle before his children. I just want to say thank you Tracy Chapman, I always find solace in the song Fast Car ❤️
This is as real as music gets.Human,honest,vulnerable.Share this song with the younger generation, the kids,so they know that music can actually mean something and give you comfort
+Tourist from another Universe I was surprised, that its black person (no offense, just because of voice) and, now when i see your comment.. wow its a women?
I had a friend who died too young -- this was a song that meant alot to her. I will always miss her and associate this brilliant song with her. Sometimes words are not enough.
***** You find that with some artists nowadays that they can be downright amazing yet not as big as they should be. Look at Lene Marlin I think she is very talented (wrote some tracks for Rihanna good girl gone bad album) and I have seen me go into the CD shop ask for Lene Marlin and they look at me blank and as if I am mad.
Tracy has a true raw and absolute soul that goes deeper in the blue's be soo honest. She doesn't sing of a happy ending? No No No! She sing's about the "Thought or Idea of a happy ending"? Just the "Thought" of a happy ending is soo much more to a person who just needs a hand up? Her words come from a place that few will ever know?
This song always gets me emotional. I can relate to the bad start, the alcoholic partner and failed dreams, the stregnth of going it alone. But also that vivid memory of driving in the car and those very specific feelings, like I was free, bittersweet now since it led to some poor choices.

This was the first song that I ever heard and said I like that song. I was a little kid and the song absolutely fascinated me in a really good way and I just thought it was so beautiful. I feel tears in my eyes everytime I hear it
The memories i had with this song during my childhood is so precious. Everytime i heard this song but drop a tear of happiness. thank you tracy for such a wonderfull song
She's Amazing. This song is so much more than just a song, it's my teens. It's a moment in time. Suspended. It's everything a song should be, Everything. Timeless

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Plain and simple
This song and Atlantic City by Bruce Springstein are the best lyrics ever written
An excellent singer that will stand the rest of time. A timeless classic from a singer that absolutely broke the mold and deserves so much respect.
Can you guys feel why this is so much better?. camera pans out and no fucking cell phones or ipads in the air.. just hands clapping to how good a song this is
Ikr. Times have so changed. They don't make them like Tracy Chapman no more.

so true
This is epic. Her voice is incomparable. And that music sound is like no other. Love it with all its melancholic vibe and melody...simply perfect.
+claire amer A duet with Tracy and Mick Hucknall would be something that vocalist could never top.
+claire amer Trust me there is other music that is good too.
+Rick Davis because mick hucknall sounds like a black woman?
+nutsackmania I know but this is too good.

She's magnificent, and have loved this song for some 20 years.

Tracy can sing just as well live as she can in a studio. This woman is totally awesome. Tell people about her!
At first I thought he was a guy sigh but still she's really awesome ❤️

I haven't heard of her until this past week.
This song just evokes so much imagery for me. I never understood this song when I was younger, but now whenever I listen to this I'm always touched by it. The lyrics are so amazing.
My Mum introduced this song and Tracy Chapman when i was very young and I always understood it...Such powerful words...
Iam a 55 year old white male and I still idle her and her voice has never been DUP and never will be
internallogic Possibly because every word is about herself

Still a number 1 song in 2019.. this is real music .. No autotune ..
A song packed with pure emotion. You can feel the beating heart in the drums..You can hear the aching heart in her voice. What's better an excellent? "Fast Cars", by Tracy Chapman!
Everyone can connect with this song, we have all lived this story at different times of our lives. She expresses it beautifully and completely
my heart is aching literally.
mr ballsack mine too man mine too
mr ballsack Not to burst your bubble (or, in your case, scrotum) but it's not literally aching.

As a writer, those words are so true for all of artists
Love Tracy cause her songs always mean something. That longing of going away from a bad place/situation and trying to do something with your life.... It always gets me... That's the difference between Songs with Soul and today's songs with booty....
Pure talent. So humble. She sings to carve a lasting impression into people.
Tracy Chapman, Special woman!! The world needs people just like you!!
Tracy Chapman.....Baby Can l hold you.....Hammer Song.....Super Stimme....👍👍👍💗💗💗💗💗💗💗l Love it....😘😘😘😘
the natural way she sings and the power of her voice is incredible. this is better than the studio version...
I'm glad I could listen to this version after the hideous Jonas cover. What a relief!
+Fernanda Gomez Vasquez Read my comment four above yours...to Brandon.
lol
its a remix not a cover ;)
its not hideous cmon 8)
Not many songs can choke me up every single time I hear it, but this is one of them.
I just love Tracy Chapman. I just love her....
Anybody with me in May 2019 feeling great with our beautiful Tracy Chapman hits.

+DownShiift yes, yes we have heard of opinions. But any opinion other than this song being absolutely flawless are WRONG!!.... fucktard 😙✌
+Caz l good my boos
i love this song so much really awesome
This is when music told a story...back before mass production and auto tune became the norm and considered "talent". That's why the greats will last forever and the Miley's and Taylor's will be easily forgotten...
absolutely!
taylor's live ''last kiss' is totally beautiful and live. lol what the . .
true tho, just a bit different.
Aimi Mori
Calm your shit you internet gangster. He did'nt say anything about this generation of music being fucked. Get outta here with your snowflake shit.
William Vick brilliant
Amen to that
flooded with memories
2019. Still timeless.
Tracy Chapman is so amazing! Wish she would go on tour, would totally love to hear "Fast Car" and "Talking 'bout a Revolution" live!!

WHAT A GREAT EMOTIONAL SONG..LOVED THIS SONG WHEN I WAS JUST A KID.OLD MAN 43YRS
My God, she's just so natural, so raw, pure. I can't find the words to describe her, and perhaps, rightly so.
One of the BEST 80's SONGS OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+boxertest Take out 80's and you are correct !!
+FeatchCity One of the BEST SONG'S OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
An extraordinary life and an extraordinary artist. Unconventional yet made herself rich by speaking her mind of poverty. Absolute legend. All the best Tracy you go like you have made everyone feel. ...
This song fucks me up, even after so long.
You crack me up. Some things are eternal. This song reaches into my soul. Amazing. I love it that when I hear her live she changes it subtly from the recorded version - like something live, it evolves.
Well said
Me and my mum used to sing this together when I was younger *happy tears*
Her voice sounds even better than in pre recordings. So much talent!
tHIS IS OONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER ......SUNG BY A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN
MrSupernova111 you do know that she is a guy with long hair right?
arrgh garry I got this.
Who Me
Agreed! The live version is so much better!

what an awesome gig that must've been. Those people have some priceless memories
Love you Tracy! Your music touches my soul babe!!
Days in war torn country, caught up in devastating poverty and conflict. This was ma song that used to give me hope one day I will escape out and drive on an inter state highway while the city lights lay a head of me. The wishes and the dreams given to me out of this song came true now for me. I live in the US. God is merciful.
Song still brings tears
I still get chills from this song, and live makes it just that much more real
What makes this song so great is that she sings it nearly identical to her album from April of 88'. She is such a creative artist and adds an endless depth of soul to all her music, you can't help but feel every word of her lyrics. I have loved her music since her "Debute Album", clearly her soul nor her voice owns any depth.
So much depth and soul in her voice, eyes and demeanor. So dignified and so beautiful
Она неподражаема!!!Супер!Слушаю её с 1986г.Tracy Chapman super!!!
It's official Tracy. You are definitely someone...
Kookoooo1
Ikr...
Kookoooo1 add to that it's 2014 already and still
I can feel the love...thanx.
ScottyJr5
cute :)
And I had a feeling that I belonged
I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone.
+Fidessa Isiko Me too~but the feeling passed as the years crawled by...& now I'm left with the dreams of yesterday & the emptimess of tomorrow.
+AbbyNormal777 Abby... you forgot to mention today there. Live your dreams Abby.
+kirstin waugh Well, when you're starting from zero, you've got nothing to lose.
This song is so soothing, it's like chicken soup for the soul
hahah lol
+Robyn Marquis My mom used to say: with a good chicken soup you can wake up the dead... And thats a bit of what this song does to my soul...
i have a book called that!
+hanini I hear where your coming from.
My mom used to say chicken soup was good for almost everything, didn't matter if it was a cold, a broken hart, a headache or a heartache, a cup of mama's selfmade chicken soup would cure it for sure.......
This guy clearly has no definition of unknown music. This song is legendary. The world is singing along. Come on dude. Unknown music.
A beautiful song too many people can relate to.
The song gets to me every time...Memories of my childhood, me parents and war with myself...
***** If so, why you giving me the attention and talking to me ?
+Jog Singh Truer words were never spoken. I guess i am a slow learner, just turned 50 and mailed AARP their fucking card back, LOL! I think i am finally learning. But why, oh why, is youth wasted on the young> LOL!
Yeasss
This song! I have always loved her genuine.
She has such a unique voice...
I just Love Tracy Chapman - thier ain't no more to say!
"My momma went off and left him".....heart drops.
And depends what ae ya looking for
+Timothy O'B I am a DJ and I think I know a lot of music and I must say that you are absolutely right. Its NOT
But here and there you can find something real... but its very rare. Like Benjamin Clementine for example!
they dont write songs like this anymore, one of the most beautiful songs ever written
"Fast Car"
You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Any place is better
Starting from zero got nothing to lose
Maybe we'll make something
Me myself I got nothing to prove
You got a fast car
I got a plan to get us out of here
I been working at the convenience store
Managed to save just a little bit of money
Won't have to drive too far
Just 'cross the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs
And finally see what it means to be living
See my old man's got a problem
He live with the bottle that's the way it is
He says his body's too old for working
His body's too young to look like his
My mama went off and left him
She wanted more from life than he could give
I said somebody's got to take care of him
So I quit school and that's what I did
You got a fast car
Is it fast enough so we can fly away?
We gotta make a decision
Leave tonight or live and die this way
So remember when we were driving driving in your car
Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
You got a fast car
We go cruising, entertain ourselves
You still ain't got a job
And I work in a market as a checkout girl
I know things will get better
You'll find work and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter
Buy a bigger house and live in the suburbs
So remember when we were driving driving in your car
Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
You got a fast car
I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at the bar
See more of your friends than you do of your kids
I'd always hoped for better
Thought maybe together you and me find it
I got no plans I ain't going nowhere
So take your fast car and keep on driving
So remember when we were driving driving in your car
Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
You got a fast car
Is it fast enough so you can fly away?
You gotta make a decision
Leave tonight or live and die this way
When music had heart.
Leon Mateo Escovar Bernal Still does.
Music will come back. Art never dies it just becomes re imagined.
Leon, Absolutely right. Where is the passion in music anymore
Hearts grow they break and them ambers produce flames.as ashes fall people take their places and prayers get mafe
Truly beautiful and moving. A song and artist that are unsurpassed.
How do you dislike something like this....really how do you? Its pure and heavens made voice. Natural!!! Simply you don't have a heart that's why you disliked
+Kevin. K Uanivi people are assholes is why!
+Kevin. K Uanivi People can have different opinions is all, that doesn't make them better or worse people.
Httpfhk
+Kevin. K Uanivi power of numbers and statistics. 1.73% of the youtube population who took time to vote this video are haters.
It wasn’t until I found the Tracy Chapman classic, Fast Car that I realized I wasn’t the only person who felt this way, and that I wasn’t wrong for not loving my parents entirely …
Do I love my father? I’m not sure love’s the right word. I know that you should love your parents, but it’s a two way thing and towards the end of every day he wasn’t showing any love to me, he wanted me to suffer. He never got his priorities straight. Always put the bottle before his children.
I just want to say thank you Tracy Chapman, I always find solace in the song Fast Car ❤️
I'm absolutely going insane listening to that tune! I'm dancing and spinning and sing along..
she is a very underated artist, and this is a great song about wanting to run away from life
I know...
not sure how over 60 million views us underrated exactly.
+Croyles WELLLLL.....let's give you somebody who is underrated...but the tide is turning.
Google JASMINE LAMPORT AUDIOS.
Wait its a girl?
hey CLIFF she is the most noted musician of this time.... haha underrated!!!! how dare!!! love......
Tracy Chapman music expresses the voices of the dispossessed. It is lyrical and is hauntingly beautiful. She is a gift to the world.
I absolutely love this song! The melody and words are amazing!
This is as real as music gets.Human,honest,vulnerable.Share this song with the younger generation, the kids,so they know that music can actually mean something and give you comfort
Hits me in my gut, soul -- her voice captivates.her words make me ache
I got to play with Tracy in 2001 for a few minutes and I will swear to all of you, that woman is made of gold. We'll leave it at that. Great lady.
Lucky!
Amazing song!!!!. The struggle between ones' family and individual ambitions. Understanding Love, hope, strength, peace,
Still cant believe this came out in 88'. It has that mid nineties sound with that strong acoustic guitar. It was ahead of its time.
I love this song. So meaningful. Not to insult her, but did anyone else used to think it was a guy singing?
+Antony Gill aye
+Antony Gill yea i was surprised to know it was a woman singing. hahaha
An amazing artist nonetheless.
+Tourist from another Universe I was surprised, that its black person (no offense, just because of voice) and, now when i see your comment.. wow its a women?
+Tourist from another Universe Is it girl? This has always been a big mystery to me lol, great song though
+Tourist from another Universe I did when I first listened to her lol
All time favourite who else listing in 2020
I had a friend who died too young -- this was a song that meant alot to her. I will always miss her and associate this brilliant song with her. Sometimes words are not enough.
Yo
I love tracy, very underrated so much talent
2021 and forever
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
somehow better than the studio version. Absolutely amazing song
Normally sound better performed live. No studio tweeking
^ if thats a general statement aimed at most/all artists, tell that to the black eyed peas and taylor swift
***** KT now there is a great artist
***** You find that with some artists nowadays that they can be downright amazing yet not as big as they should be. Look at Lene Marlin I think she is very talented (wrote some tracks for Rihanna good girl gone bad album) and I have seen me go into the CD shop ask for Lene Marlin and they look at me blank and as if I am mad.
One of my favorite songs of all time. And no one sings it better than Tracy Chapman. Dakota doesn't come close to this beautiful, soulful voice
One of the greatest songs of all-time. Lyrics actually have meaning and soul, something current music lacks.
RIP Paul Walker... This song is for you
almost spit up my coffee
#dead
Kilano Kiseragi much like the tree.
Otra de mis favoritas de Tracy. Fenómeno de mujer con esa voz!!!!
This song always gets me emotional. I can relate to the bad start, the alcoholic partner and failed dreams, the stregnth of going it alone. But also that vivid memory of driving in the car and those very specific feelings, like I was free, bittersweet now since it led to some poor choices.

I LOVE YOU!!
You’re amazing for this
This was the first song that I ever heard and said I like that song. I was a little kid and the song absolutely fascinated me in a really good way and I just thought it was so beautiful. I feel tears in my eyes everytime I hear it
That was beautifully moving.
Beauty in a beast mode. Tryna stay comfortably numb.
The memories i had with this song during my childhood is so precious. Everytime i heard this song but drop a tear of happiness. thank you tracy for such a wonderfull song
I haven't heard this song in years...I thought about it yesterday...now here I am and I am crying.
Could listen to it a million times and it would still make me cry every damn time.
She's Amazing. This song is so much more than just a song, it's my teens. It's a moment in time. Suspended. It's everything a song should be, Everything. Timeless
I need this song to play on the radio people need to hear else you.
