I finally got exhaust based off your great sounding video and truck. Thank you. I went with a Y pipe to 4x12 tips. I wanted 5x12 but he didn't have that size. Even the guy who welded everything on at the muffler shop was amazed at how great it sounded. Thanks again
Beautiful truck. I had an 04 Z71 that was straight Y pipe with 2.25” pipe. Absolutely love how they sound. I agree that it sounds better than flows or cherry or anything else for that matter.

i have just gotten a 2008 GMC 1500, an i may do an exhaust on it definately love the sound of yours. an a buddy of mine had taken the cats off his an after the truck ran for 25 or 30 min it started cutting out, and would die. so he took it to a shop an had them run some test an he had to put the cats back on to get the back pressure back. but thanks for the up loaded video definately a route i may go with mine.

I was just stuck trying to decided between the flowmaster 10,40,44 series and borlas and corsa and magniflow and I just couldn't make up my mind :( but after doing some research after watching ur video I found that removing exhaust does not lose back presse, it won't mess up ur truck, and it sounds amazing. This was my DD, and where i live, it doesnt matter. There's guys that drive around with headers back. And in the cab it had some sound, but it wasnt even as bad as my flowmaster 40s. but still way louder outside.

All I did to my 5.3 silverado was just cut the muffler out and weld in another piece of pipe in its spot...kept stock tail pipe and location. Not real loud and still sounds good. Great video.

I have a 2010 Rocky Ridge with a 6 inch lift and 35x12.5 tires and the same exhaust set up. It sounds absolutely amazing. I highly recommend going this route if you have a 5.3 newer chevy,
I have an 06 with the 6.0 2500HD I've had straight pipes since I bought it new.I had a 98 before that I bought new and had straight pipes on that too.I love that sound....
I've got a 25 dollar dynomax race bullet on my 5.3 99 z71 with a turndown and the entire thing including install was 75 dollars. It sounded better than my friends' flow masters and any other expensive exhaust but recently I put on two high flow cats and my truck sounds at least this good or probably better (I can't tell from just this audio) but the total i paid was $350 and I couldn't be happier.

As many people on here would agree lol no muffler of any kind is as loud as no muffler. Perhaps simply adding long tubes to this would be beneficial, but considering how pure but loud the sound is. And thats what i like. I dont think ill be changing anything.

@ Jordan Meek. The lift actually rides surprisingly smooth on and offroad. Its definitely not bone jarring at all. Ive had alot of compliments on how it rode. Really a good ride for such a big lift. I have the N2.0 shocks in the rear btw. Concerning the MPGs. That depends on several factors. One is what ratio you regear your diffs to. If you have a 6 speed with 3.42 gears, (i think you do based on what you said) GO TO 4.10 gears. You don't need 4.56 gears. 4 speeds 3.73 gears do. Itl be the best for fuel economy. It should get you the closest to factory rpms at highway speed. As for how much the mpgs will drop depends on the truck. My truck (doesnt have V4 mode) got 22 highway if i drove it perfectly, after the lift. 16mpg highway, like 13 city. Lol wow. After the regear it get 19 again highway. 16 city. plus all my torque with alittle extra back. Think about it, youre DRASTICALLY reducing the aerodynamics of the vehicle with the lift and the extra heavy wheels. I dont know what youre truck will get, but id have to guess if you regear to 4.10s about 17 city and 22 highway. SAVE UP AND REGEAR WHEN YOU LIFT IT.

The tires definitely fit the truck. Remember rough country's lift is only 7.5" in front and 6" rear to level it out. Also the tires are 13.5" wide. On a 20X10" rim (to keep the weight down and let me have enough sidewall to actually wheel.) with a -16 offset. That is a very wide profile. They stick out just right. I didnt trim at first. But i use this truck as a truck. And when i was fully turned and hit holes i had to trim. But if he can somehow wheel hard with 37s then power to him. Lol

sounds just like mine. I had the same set up but left the 3rd cat on (resonator) and am taking it off today. I got it bolted on right now until I can get it welded. All these muffler shops trying to charge me 100+ just to simply weld a few pieces of pipe...smh. If i was back home and instead of up here in my apartment in the middle of town, i woulda welded it by now.

I recently did this exhaust setup on my GMC, based on this video. It sounds great, thanks for the upload it made the tough decision a lot easier. I have a question about the wheels and tires. I am about to put the same lift on my truck the Rough Country 7.5". What size wheels and tires did you have? Were you running any wheel spacers? RC told me not to run a 20x10 and run a 20x9. I like the way your tires stick out just enough but not a ton. I was thinking about still going with the 20x10 and either .25" or 2" spacers. Any info would be appreciated.
Im glad you like your exhaust!! They were 20x9 XD Hoss wheels on 35x13.50r20 tires. Wheels had a -12 offset so they stick out some, but not too much. Truck does not have spacers.
I’m doing a Muffler delete on my GMC 5.3 but I’m not Doing dual exhaust I’m dumping it out in front of my rear tire hope it sounds half as good as yours!

My friend just did this to his Silverado, sounds A LOT better than I though it would.

Well Miles Johnson. Sounds like you need to cutt off your exhaust at the headers and run a 1" wide pipe all the way back. You'll be in heaven.

My brother has a 99 dodge with Straight pipe no cat a 1 chamber magnaflow, dualed and dumped out the back it sounds badass similar to yours

No issues at all. No loss in low end or high rpm torque. But with your 4.8 it will sound alittle bit different. Not quite as deep and loud id guess.
