    Old school Japanese cars have gained such a revival in the last number of years. It's great to see the effort people have gone to restore and mod these old beasts from the past.

      70's and 80's were amazing for imports. American cars were horrid which allowed import cars to gain a foothold in the American market.

      The Nissan Skyline R32 GTR was made in 1989 and won every race it ever entered in the touring car series, that was the best time ever for the JDM market

    I had a 1976 Skyline GT-X fastback while stationed in Japan.Not as fast as a GT-R,but still looked cool and was a blast to drive(caught rubber in second gear)!

    now remember kids, when they were new in 70s it didn't come with those engines and it really was flimsy rusting buckets of bolts lol. I'll kill to have one now

      so most of them runs mid 15s lol. i wouldn't brag about my muscle car being fast as 1.5l civic

    • @skoparweaver7692
      @skoparweaver7692 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      francis brown
      And so don't many American muscle cars from the 70s. These people aren't bragging, they're showing off rare cars that you can't afford. Either enjoy the video or shut the fuck up...

    • @twoeightythreez
      @twoeightythreez 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Scopar...You wish.
      yeah, some of the Skylines have the original engines.
      They are the ones NOT doing burnouts, in case you didn't notice.
      Not one of those cars came stock with a turbo....
      yet 90% of the cars in the video were rocking high boost.
      don't get me wrong, I love Oldschool JDMs but this video is not an accurate representation of what these cars were.
      Just because they are bad ass in the current modified form does not mean they were always that way.
      in fact, most import enthusiasts of today would absolutely loathe a box stock 70s japanese car in stock form. They were very boring amd slow and (with some exceptions)handled a lot like the Detroit iron most jdm fans make fun of.

    The Celica and Z have better body lines. I get that the others have great engines, but it's not just about engines, it's about styling. The Z/ZX are legends but the Celica was a fully loaded economy car that had awesome lines. You got clock, tach, full gauges, disc brakes, A/C console, high back buckets. It was a great car to have because they proved that a poor person's car didn't have to look like crap. They could have come stock with better engines in the US. I've had 3 of the 1st gen and still have 1 left.

    • @justforever96
      @justforever96 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah....and so aren't the vast majority of American muscle cars you see these days. I love when muscle car fans talk shit about imports "because they're only fast if you modify them"...and you cant help but glance over at his lowered Camaro with modern low-profile racing tires, exhaust, LS engine with turbo, aftermarkets suspension, bracing, body pieces, fuel injection, racing seats, performance chip, intercooler, etc....the same car that would do maybe 14 seconds 1/4 mile from the factory, and hardly do corners at all. Considering that they are the people who invented hot-rodding, Americans seem to hate admitting even their own cars could use all the help they could get.

      Looks just like my 1974 GT. I always wanted a 1975 GT Liftback. Absolutely gorgeous. Not generally a fan of mid 70's JDM styling, but these are some nice examples. I learned to drive in a 1972 Corolla. 2TC engine (hemi) with a four speed. Perfect training car. Illinois salt destroyed it in two years.

      That's because with the exception of the skylines, they were all heavily modified.
      most of those stock couldn't even do a burnout. Most of these cars were the Japanese equivalent of a Plymouth volare or a ford pinto....which people made into awesome cars when they got old, but when they were new they were pretty bland.
      Comparing these to US muscle cars is not really fair, (except for the GT-R).
      Still cool as hell though.

      70's Celica's came stock with 100hp. enough to burn out.

      twoeightythreez Mmmm.... my 1980 Datsun 720 with a Nissan L18 carb. engine 1.8 lts haves 105 hp and it can do burnouts... and this is a really small engine..! Of course, almost all american muscle cars are above 5 lts... "there's no replacement for displacement". Lots of Hp and torque... and fuel consumption.
