Purchased at Toys R Us. They didn't release it "early," they released it when they received the product from LEGO to sell, and there was no embargo date.
I think it would be interesting if you did a 'comparison' showing all the recent mid-scale vehicles Lego has done recently in order to see if there is a sense of scale between them. Thanks
Why doesn't Lego just move all of their giant car models into their own separate category? They've got enough for it to be that way. The Mini Cooper, the Volkswagen Bus, the Volkswagen Beetle, The Ferrari....... I know I'm missing at least one. Anyway, that's enough for it to be its' own series, isn't it?
Honestly I don't think it matters if they make another car series. I mean they only make 1 or 2 medium to large sized cars each year. And although I'm a huge car fan, I don't think it's happening soon.
Maybe if they made a compromise between the size of the Caterham and the small P1 it would have a slight chance of making it to a series. I hope they would, but I don't think they will.
the Lego fives mini fit you have for your profile, I own that same minifig! Was it custom and come from Germany or Europe? I forgot... One of those two.
Awww it's so pretty!! I could definitely get back into lego with sets like these. It never ceases to amaze me that every time I watch one of your reviews lego has seemingly made another two lego pieces at least...
This is a wonderful set and I hope it starts a collection of similar scale open wheel sets - Lotus 25, 72 or 77, the Ferrari 412T4. Nothing to do with Lego but if you ever have the chance to drive one of these do so, I once heard it described it as a horizontal bungee jump and can testify thats bang on. You'll never smile like you do on a British B-Road in a Caterham 7.
I'm not a huge car fan, but this set looks so ascetically pleasing that I'm having a tough time saying "no" to it. Great set and great review as always Jang!
Just to share with you guys, I built a caterham using the parts from the Volkswagen set 10252... www.flickr.com/photos/legophilippines/30118141646/in/album-72157674848800335/
Thanks Jang for the review! Can't wait to build this! Strange its out in Toys R Us before Lego Stores. Guess I'll be waiting a few more days to purchase this set. Its a shame they couldn't keep the steering as it was designed with steering but I understand why it was deleted by TLG. Its just looks awesome!
our Toys R Us in Burbank has had it on the shelf all of September but when you try to buy it at the register it locks it out for purchase until the 1st!
the one downside I have with this model is the wheel arches. In the UK it is illegal for the wheels to be wider than the arches, this being a British car I would've expected the arches to be longer to fit in with reality
LEGO can only do so much with the existing moulds, and they don't want new moulds created specifically for individual Ideas sets (new prints and stickers are fine), and there is currently no 1x3 version of the wheel arch connector. If they added a 1x3 plate on top, it would've broken up the curve of the arch. If they added it underneath, it would make the front wheels unable to freewheel.
I totally agree. I messaged LEGO about the wheels the other day. I mentioned they used generic Technic Quad Bike wheels and Dump Truck tires< so the wheels look too industrial and the tires are too wide. Also this model has no windshield either or a realistic underbody. It is what it is, an expensive static model.
Hey Jang, first I'd like to thank you for all the videos you make about lego products! Second, have you noticed the gap between the dash and the hood? I think there's a mistake in the instructions of the model, since in the pictures on the box, that gap doesn't show. I found that if you take off one of the 2 stacked 1x5 technic plate for the dash assembly, it solves the problem!
Jang, if you were to rate this 0-10, what would the rating be? And I am not saying the useful pieces, I'm talking about the whole set, not using the pieces for other mocs.
It's a great model!! And awesome video too, I made some slight modifications to mine, adding a few 1X1 bricks to space out the steering wheel from the instrument cluster (they give you some extras in the set other than that this iconic car sits on my desk with a Lego City Road base plate underneath it.
Jang thanks for the review. Looks like a nice little set. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought those had a 3 cylinder engine. The build makes it look like a 4 banger.
Uhmm, I didn't mean that in any bad way, Sag. I fully plan to purchase this model given that it is my all time favorite Vehicle design. As for the train you speak of... I'm not a rail fan, though My significant other is, so he may well do the chuckling on that point and while Visiting Edinburgh would be nice, I'll stick with what I can afford and go to the coast on weekends. However, I can't help but again say that this design has "Striking similarities" to the car from the aforementioned Anime. I'm sorry if I offended you with my previous comments. Though I don't see your need for such a rude tone with me on this subject.
The car you're referring to in the anime is a Caterham Seven. This is a Caterham Seven. Nothing is "ripped" from anything. You're saying a model of a real-world vehicle is "ripped" from another model of the same real-world vehicle. It doesn't make sense.
:| I simply say this because it was what first came to my mind. the promotional images for the anime had the car done up in the exact same paint scheme, branding and even the side pipes on the right of the car. It may very well be just another Caterham Seven, or "Super 7" as a lot of people call them, though what I saw is what I decided to say. What I said though may not have been exactly what I meant, or well, perceived as what I meant. When I said "design" I meant the paint scheme and side pipes. Its a striking resembelance to the vehicle from the show. Other than that, yeah, its a Caterham Seven.
I see. Yeah, this is one of six standard colors available from the factory, called "Caterham Yellow." cosmic-toybox.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/caterham-all-models-S2457663-1.jpg media.caranddriver.com/images/media/623660/caterham-seven-360-photo-623791-s-986x603.jpg Any licensed representation of the vehicle is most likely to use one of these official liveries.
A printed 1x2 tile costs roughly 34 cents per piece, a stickered 1x2 tile costs 5 cents, So if they switched only to prints, It would be MUCH MORE expensive, especially for sets like the resistance pod or Bennys spaceship or the Outrider dropship set
Purchased at Toys R Us. They didn't release it "early," they released it when they received the product from LEGO to sell, and there was no embargo date.
I just saw a sneek peek of this set
amazing
Cool
glad lego doesn't use decals anymore because I always ended up putting them on like 15 times and usually ended up with a hair or two on the decal.
if lego offered you a job would you work for them?
The speed with which you build is amazing. Thank you for letting us view the early access sets!
This has so many good parts.
Gonna get this set and build it for my Dad he has a Caterham Seven in British racing green in the garage.
THANKS FOR SHOWING US THE NEW PIECES USED IN THIS SET.
PLEASE DO MORE OF THAT!
I think it would be interesting if you did a 'comparison' showing all the recent mid-scale vehicles Lego has done recently in order to see if there is a sense of scale between them. Thanks
I love this! I used to live in Caterham, Surrey and these cars were spotted all the time. will definately be getting this!
2×3 tile?!?!??!?!?!? prayers have been answered!!!!!!
FINALLY!!!
Such a great set, I really do love this!! I can't wait to buy mine, especially since this is my favorite ideas set so far!! Great review too!
A nice model. Well-thought out. It's nice to see LEGO Ideas NOT making movie and TV stuff as previous.
I can agree. Even though Wall-e is one of my favorite movies.
That looks fantastic and love those new 1 stud rounded with bar pieces, wow!
I hate how perfect Lego made this, it makes me feel unaccomplished in life...
its not made by lego, its a lego ideas set
+TRAITOR Lego redesigns the entry.
***** lame
+TRAITOR in a way that is fair. Lego has to make it easier to build and lower the cost.
Can't wait till October 22 can you

The Mini Cooper, the Volkswagen Bus, the Volkswagen Beetle, The Ferrari....... I know I'm missing at least one. Anyway, that's enough for it to be its' own series, isn't it?
Yeah all the creator and maybe even the tecnic would be so much more easier if they were together
And it would encourage them to make more
Honestly I don't think it matters if they make another car series. I mean they only make 1 or 2 medium to large sized cars each year. And although I'm a huge car fan, I don't think it's happening soon.
Its a Ferrari f40 how did you not know that and you are not missing one
Maybe if they made a compromise between the size of the Caterham and the small P1 it would have a slight chance of making it to a series. I hope they would, but I don't think they will.
BigNat3r, yes but this is an ideas set published by a Lego fan so they couldn't just put into a separate series
That glow ins the dark head really is a nice touch. Gives it that look of a barely translucent tank.
the Lego fives mini fit you have for your profile, I own that same minifig! Was it custom and come from Germany or Europe? I forgot... One of those two.
No I made it with decals and a CAC helmet
Awww it's so pretty!! I could definitely get back into lego with sets like these. It never ceases to amaze me that every time I watch one of your reviews lego has seemingly made another two lego pieces at least...
Does it come with Alex Kersten and bacon to put on the exhaust?
Oh you watch Car Throttle too? Awesome!
Car throttle and jangbricks all da way

I personally am not a big car fan but this set is beautiful with its amazing and creative building techniques! Might have to pick this one up
Nice seeing an ideas set that isn't themed after an existing IP, hope to see more stuff like this out ideas more often!
Building this while watching this. Also got it at Toys R Us.
Reminds me of some of the old Model Team stuff. If LEGO brought that back, I would probably be a buyer.
If you were to add one thing to this video, it might be a comparison to the fan-model images. Perhaps an opinion on it as well.
Oh my Lord, that is the coolest vehicle Lego I've ever seen and that's including the Ecto-1 and the BttF DeLorean.
6:41 I see a pistol used with the rear-view mirror. :)
it looks great your video are awesome, jang
Very nice looking and sleek.
The parts in that are awesome!
Oh man that looks so good! Will for sure look for one now
Always wanted one of these machines in Lego format
Just to share with you guys, I built a caterham using the parts from the Volkswagen set 10252...
www.flickr.com/photos/legophilippines/30118141646/in/album-72157674848800335/
That is awesome!
Gerald Canvas nice
I love cars (still saving for an s2000) and Legos make me so nostalgic. Might have to get this one
This is an awesome ideas set! Great review Jang
I need that to go with my Ferrari F40
Jang, I collect only lego Star Wars, but I watch your every review, beause this is really great job! Keep doing it! Love your channel!
Smart use for a whip
I love this so much. The price is so perfect. I wish all the sets were valued like this.
I'm reminded of how Richard Hammond said that the Caterham was for geeks and nerds, that was a funny episode of Top Gear.
This looks better than it does on the box!
The classic revolvers made it's way back but used as engine parts lol
Excellent review of a really nice set, which I am very eager to buy and build for myself! :-)
Great Lego Idea set!!!!!
A 1x1 brick with a bar?! I can finally make hinges without needing 4 studs of length! This is AWESOME!!!
You're the best JANG!!!!! :D
Me too. Got it at toys r us . Awesome car!!
our Toys R Us in Burbank has had it on the shelf all of September but when you try to buy it at the register it locks it out for purchase until the 1st!

I'm fairly certain the real 620R has no windshield. Aside from a small Carbon Fiber lip which this one has.
David Ernest The 620R, wich this set is based off, doesn't have a windshield.
Hey Jang, first I'd like to thank you for all the videos you make about lego products!

Interesting choice going for Glow in the Dark White instead of Very Light Grey
Wow this came out sooner than I thought it would
there is a lot to learn about building from this
hey Jang. What an amazing bit of lego, I so will be getting one of these.
It's a great model!! And awesome video too, I made some slight modifications to mine, adding a few 1X1 bricks to space out the steering wheel from the instrument cluster (they give you some extras in the set other than that this iconic car sits on my desk with a Lego City Road base plate underneath it.
LOVE IT! The engine build reminds me of the Ferrari F40!set
LOOKS PERFECT!
Really a very nice set with a detailed engine
Jang have you ever considered doing any top 10s like a top ten Star Wars sets video or something
wow, so many new pieces, i want them all
AWESOME Review! I'm getting this one soon.
this vehicle was reviewed on a show i watch called topgear(it is a British motoring show)!
Great set and great reviev, Like always
Jang thanks for the review. Looks like a nice little set. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought those had a 3 cylinder engine. The build makes it look like a 4 banger.
Aww.. I want that to go with my 'Mini Cooper'
Yes! I love this car!
Awesome set. I wonder how it compares in size to the Porsche?
Probably too small to be in scale with one another. I think it might be in better scale with the Creator F40.
+William Raymond true
A lot smaller scale than the Porsche (that's close to 1/8 scale).
did a lego store break street date on this? i thought it wasnt supposed to come out till oct 1st
5:17 why the blue part? Just go with black, no need for it to be blue?!
Nice review. How does the car compare in size, to other lego vehicles like the mini cooper?
hey Jang i love destiny, could you tell me which set I should get for my b day?
Hey Jang, this car makes me chuckle so much because it's the same design ripped straight from the Anime OVA series, "EX-Driver. Look it up.
Uhmm, I didn't mean that in any bad way, Sag. I fully plan to purchase this model given that it is my all time favorite Vehicle design. As for the train you speak of... +thekatjon20 the super 7 is a different car this is a Caterham 7 and I can promise you that it's older than your anime
I'm buying this one!
That looks amazing.
very cool car and graet video bro
I would only pay $70 if it was large enough but I would look good next to my VW camper/f40/beetle/mini cooper
Have you already bought the new Rogue One Lego sets? I believe they are out.
When will you do an at-st reveiw
that's a sick model
Hi, jang I wanted to know what's your favorite LEGO theme
4:30 Looks like a 4 pistol engine to me... SCNR
You should do a detailed Brick and mortar bank if you don't akready
Wow this is amazing!
Do you know where and when this set will be available to purchase as I can't I find it. will it come out in New Zealand?
Awesome it looks so good
I wish lego would only use prints and not stickers that would be so much cooler
m1ke2001 I 100% agree

that really looks good
when is it coming out in canada. I dont see it at the lego store
Any thoughts on rise of iron jang?
Jang do you think this or the U.S. Capitol Building would make a better display model/more worth its money.
This one flew past my radar. Must have, thanks! Lego, make a Ferrari 360!
Hey hang love the vids
I want this but I don't know if I can get it at my Walmart, I probably would be able to get it at a toy store that we have in town
Wow so detail engine :)
Did you know that Nanoblock has train sets called Nanogauge?
I bet this isn't even out in the UK yet
Does it come with an alex
Love this car in nfs most wanted 2011
That looks a lot like a BIG Lego creation I saw before
its because it is
