      gotta wait for a few more updates to get 600 episodes out of it but it's already very good and I legit put 69 hours into it, once they release the third character you can probably get 100hours out of the game

      there's really not enough content for 600. Maybe if they add the infinite mode and like double the cards. Right now theres only like 4 different bosses for each level and like 3 archetypes for each class. And I don't know about you but self-burn and self-wound for the warrior are kind of shit archetypes.

      gotta say if you're a youtuber and have the talking nonstop ingrained into your every cell like NL has it would be kinda stupid to NOT just record as you play. I mean, if you are a game-related youtuber chances are that you will not play THAT many games in your "freetime" because you actually want to do something different... maybe.

    • @strifera

      Thank you NL

    • @BillyD3Kidd
      @BillyD3Kidd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The balance is really kinda fudged at the moment. Some of the bosses are actually just insane, get relics or lose, both characters have one best deck that you have to go for if you want to win, and a few other things that make the game increasingly frustrating overtime. However, I do say this as someone who has been sinking many hours into the game despite those things because I really do love what we have at this point in its development.

    • @dietaube6898
      @dietaube6898 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think that alot of the balancing can be fixed and hopefully will. Another issue in my opinion is that it looks horrible. The art style is awful. And that is something that most likely won't be "fixed"...

    • @Kubasama_
      @Kubasama_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, granted the art direction doesn't mean the game can conclusively be "bad." Its just preference, I guess. Good luck staring at the art style you particularly don't enjoy
      Edit: Maybe an addition of new backgrounds while in-battle and cleaner lineless art is all we need! Maybe the ironclad merges in with the colors too well? I don't know what could be changed, but maybe there just needs to be more of something, I just don't know what.

  • @analychemist
    @analychemist 7 ปีที่แล้ว +170

    You don't always need to take cards, and you shouldn't always take cards. More cards = more bloated = more variance in your deck.
    And you should remove cards to try and keep the deck balanced around block and attack. If you constantly take attack cards, you'll have no blocking cards. Strikes and blocks aren't as good as basically every other card.

    • @Vipertooth007
      @Vipertooth007 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I feel like you should aim to remove the basic blocks and strikes from your deck.

    • @analychemist
      @analychemist 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      My best run as the warrior was using mostly regular blocks and strikes. With the upgrade every card in your deck card + ways to farm strength, regular strikes are pretty damn effective. But I tend to generally replace an attack or block every time I get a new card that is better.

    • @dylanb2990

    I bought this game on your recommendation and have since spent 30 hours in it, really looking forward to this series! As i watch the video IL be adding any advice I think may help.
    1) If you cast a damaging increasing debuff on an enemy hovering your attack card over them will show the new damage amount
    2) Skill cards are cards that deal no direct damage in the video you say bash is a skill but its an attack skill cards are your armour and buff cards
    3) Not an objective thing but i find draw and Aoe to be very strong in your deck draw can mean extra anger which is free damage and helps you dig for apotheosis
    4) All but the smallest Slimes split at half hp so when you are fighting them be aware of current hp as you don't need to block if you can force them below half (24:30)
    5) Cards like sword boomerang don't synergies with breath fire as they are only counted as one attack with 3 instances they do however synergies well with strength cards as each instance of damage gets the buff
    I think you have done very well honestly most of the mistakes are just game knowledge so i have high hopes for this series.

    You had a great selection of card choice in this first area. That doesnt always happen. Just remember you can always skip on card pickups so your deck isnt flooded with cards that dont synergize well. Demon form is great with multi-hit attacks. Rampage is good with card draw and card search. You can easily build a run around those two cards.

    Hey, I got this game because of you and have invested a few hours into it, and the reason why I got it was mostly because I couldn't find anyone who didn't suck at it, and knowing you it's probably not going to be very different so I thought you could benefit from some tips. This will be long but hopefully it will help
    Ironclad: Straight up warrior class. Starts with 5 strikes, 4 blocks and a bash(2 energy for 8 damage and 2 turns of vulnerable). It's the strongest character in my opinion because there are a ton of overlapping ways to make him strong. This guy is a beast. Healing 6 HP at the end of combat is really useful. Most enemies on the first floor will deal damage either in multiples of 5 or in multiples of 5(+2). This is relevant for both characters, as I will get to, but for now, focus on the Ironclad. With him, basically you don't need to care about blocking the full damage. You'll either block the full damage because the opponent is doing an amount of damage multiple of 5, or you'll be taking 2 damage a turn because your opponent is dealing a multiple of 5(+2) and you only block by multiples of 5 in the beginning. That puts your focus on finishing battles by your 4th turn. This will ensure you can keep yourself at high HP without needing to rest at campfires which will help you upgrade cards in the early game. Keeping yourself at high HP is very important because as the Ironclad you really, REALLY benefit from:
    Elites: You want to be killing as many elites as you can. The problem with elites is that you won't really ever be able to guarantee you wont take damage from an elite, and as the Ironclad, that is totally fine, because you can heal that amount along the way. But elites give relics, and relics are the easiest way to make an overpowered run. There are 3 elites on the first floor. I do not remember their names but you'll know which is which pretty easily, here's a ranking of them:
    Shellbro, which starts asleep and has metalicize 8 which gives him 8 armor at the end of his turn. This is probably the strongest elite, though it can be easier than the next one I'm going to talk about but overall, no RNG involved, this guy is the hardest. He starts asleep, I have never seen him awake on his own but I do believe he does that if you spend too long doing nothing. You're safe for the first 2 turns though. He immediately awakes upon taking unblocked damage and is stunned on the turn he awakens. After that he does 18 damage, so you can't block him even with 3 basic block cards. He does that twice then diminishes your strength and dexterity by one. This will be the turn you have to deal damage, so if possible, on the turn before this, the turn of his second attack, you want to bash him to make him vulnerable. For the same reason, you want to make sure you only wake him up after you bashed him, to maximize damage. He WILL deal tons of damage pretty much no matter what, but you'll manage.
    Devil dude: This fucker is an RNG clownfiesta. You can take no damage at all, or you can die horibly. He always spends his first turn putting a buff on himself that makes him gain 2 strength every time you use a skill, so if you wanna block, well that's TOO BAD, since it makes every single attack of his stronger. Why is it an RNG clownfiesta? Because he can also make you vulnerable. This, plus the fact that you don't want to block his attacks means he can deal massive damage, and if you're put into a position where you're forced to block in order to not die, you still probably die on the next turn because he's even fucking stronger now. BUT, he can just be an idiot and use his attack that debuffs you over and over again, and that attack does considerably less damage than his regular attack, so if he does that, you shouldn't take that much damage. I'd recommend you only block when you can secure a kill on the next turn, because blocks still do heal you for 3, basically, so there's that.
    Sentinel guys: These guys are not very hard. They come in triplets, deal 8 damage each and shuffle 2 wounds into your deck as a "debuff". The annoying thing here is that they negate the first debuff you apply on them so bash won't do you much good here. Target the weakest guy and bring him down, then repeat the process. It's more of a grind really. They will deal some damage, and the battle may take a while because you will be drawing a ton of wounds in the process but it is very manageable.
    Every single elite drops relics. Some good ones, some shit ones, but they always drop them, so you should make sure you chose a path with a lot of them when you can.
    The red deck: Ironclad starts with the red deck, a heavily offensive based deck. I will go through a few particular cards which are really good, but more importantly you want to understand through which mechanics the deck reaches the overpowered state. And honestly, it's pretty fucking straight, there are two main archetypes, the first of them is Strength and Vulnerable. You want to deal damage. HEAVY damage. You already heal at the end of every fight, you don't need to concern yourself with defense. So you get cards that give you strength. And cards that double your strength. And cards that benefit multiple times from strength. And all this extra damage from strength amplified by vulnerable so you get even more of a benefit. This is in my opinion the simplest path to victory. Cards you want for this:
    Clash: It's great. Situational? You might thing so, but not at all. You can play it at any moment in your turn, so you can manipulate your hand to be able to play this. It deals FOURTEEN DAMAGE for no cost, so even if you have to play 3 blocks to get it out, you're still dealing 2/3 of the damage you would be doing with 3 strikes, AND you got all that extra block. It's honestly a broken card, but it does have it's weaknesses. You'll be wanting yo avoid curses if you have too many of these in your deck, and they also get a bit of a downside from enemies that wound you, but it's still a really strong card
    Heavy Blade:UPGRADE THIS THING. Heavy Blade+ gets 5x the benefit from strength. I don't need to say anything else. This shit can seriously mess bosses up.
    Inflame, Spot Weakness, anything that gives you strength, pretty much: This is just self explanatory I think
    Limit Break: This doubles you strength. It's the same as the cards above, but it's STRONG. And if you upgrade it it doesn't exhaust anymore. Get a few of these and you're set for that 50+ strength achievements. Something to keep in mind, if you flex for the extra strength for a single turn, then Limit Break, flex still only removes the initial amount it gave, so you end up gaining strength in the end.
    Cards that hit multiple times: These get the benefit from strength as many times as they hit. The reason they're not quite as good as heavy blade is because they also get multiple times the downside from having negative strength, which very few enemies actually do, but more importantly, this gets you fucked against enemies with thorns on the third floor. They're good, but beware.
    Bash+: Upgrade bash as soon as possible, You won't be getting a lot of benefit from vulnerable on the turn you play bash, seeing as you'll probably have to block with your remaining energy, so that 1 extra turn really helps.
    Reaper: Lot's of strength, translated into lots of healing. Simple enough.
    Archetype number two is the infinite block strategy. This is very straightforwards, get barricade and just pump that block up. Enemies can't kill you. You are also not that good at killing them, but you sure as hell can outlast them, so it works.
    The grey deck: This is accessible to every character but as the Ironclad, you are on the look out for a few very specific cards:
    Apotheosis: Upgrades you deck. Get this and put it in the lightning bottle so you start all battles with it and you won't have to upgrade cards in campfires ever again
    Finesse: Free block, plus you get a card back. It's just fucking free block.
    Flash of steel: Read what I said above about finesse, and replace every "block" by "damage. Why would I say it like that if it takes more words to say than it would to just re-write it and substitute the words myself? I dunno, why you interrogating me m8?
    Dramatic Entrance: 6 damage to all characters, always starts in your hand and costs 0 energy? What could be better? I will tell you what could be better. A motherfucking Dual Wield+, which when in your opening hand, means you open the fight by dealing 18 damage to all characters for 1 energy. It's bullshit. Same strategy kinda works with clash too.
    Trip: Vulnerable. For free. Enjoy.
    Mindblast: This just gets really fucking out of hand in the late game. No joke. Tons of damage.
    Panacea: You don't like being weak, you like dealing damage. So drink this.
    Edit: I forgot to talk about absolute trash cards, so let's do that:
    Anger: Dealing 4 damage for 0 is the Silent's thing, and it only works because they exhaust. This shit MULTIPLIES. You don't want to fill your deck with them.
    Havoc: Even if you can manipulate which card will be on top of your draw pile, you probably don't want to exhaust it.
    Sword Boomerang: Inconsistent. And even when it works, the reward does not compensate the risk that it blows.
    True Grit: Why would you EVER?
    Wild strike: 12 damage for 1 energy and a wound may seem worth it until you remember clash is more damage for less energy and gets countered by the wound this card puts in your deck.
    Corruption: Don't exhaust your skills. You won't have many of them with the ironclad either way, so don't exhaust them.
    Reckless charge: Big risk, little payoff.
    Hemokinesis: It's a worse version of clash.
    Juggernaut: This isn't trash at all, but it never worked for me, so fuck it.
    That about sums it up. I could make a relic guide as well, but fuck that, this is already way too long. I'll make another one for the silent when egg plays with him.

    Not sure if you've noticed this yet, but vulnerability's damage increase only factors in once hovering over the specific enemy since if there's multiple enemies they might not all have it so to show it on the card in hand there would be incorrect/disorienting
