i think its a bug, or maybe the have to say the original content of the card, and aditionally the modification... its a little bit confusing if not
@@Borhamus It wasn't a bug. He was just lucky they were all upgraded which is a very rare thing so early on. Knowing the affects of before and after the modification isn't necessary unless you're upgrading yourself, so if you think it's confusing that's a personal problem. You can tell they were upgraded since every time Shrug It Off was shown it was upgraded without Apotheosis or Armaments.
@@Borhamus i know it’s an old comment, but it’s annoying. NO, it just means the cards are already upgraded when he gets them, there’s nothing confusing about it, he just got lucky.
This game is incredible and it's only going to get better.
You know what gives me great hope for this game? The devs have been incredibly transparent of where the game is and where is it going and are very active on Steam and Reddit. They do weekly updates. And it's sick now!

The main problem for me is that the ending is dissapointing and easy to reach (i won my third run and every run since then) i hope that there are added more levels after early acces.
Bendorff yeah i won my 2nd run and thought i got lucky. Then i won my 3rd and 4th...hopefully they add higher difficulties after early access.

can someone explain to me how he got to that very wrong conclusion?
Joseph Jr I think he meant two actions - it's easier to think of the two move slots as two attacks (in some games de buffs are considered attacks I think) but I'm not certain. Was that the enemy that attacked and debuffed?

If you look over the enemy’s head for its intent it has an aura AND a number over its head. It’s actually doing a debuffing attack, not two attacks but NL is right in a way because it was doing more than the others, but not attacking twice.
Enemies in this game don’t do multiple things. They can do a multi hit attack (1 damage 5 times) or they can do an attack that will ALWAYS apply a debuff/buff. For example the plated armor enemy he first fought has an attack that has a drain effect. It is in fact not doing two attacks.
During some past patches, there was some weird (I'm assuming bug) interaction that made some of the Taskmaster's intentions be 2 attacks, even though it told you only about a single attack, essentially doubling the damage you were expecting from him to come.
Seems like NL played StS during that time and thought that that interaction is still in the game.
As someone else said, there was bug for a patch or two in which he did attack twice.

Hey egg, the dazed cards are ethereal, which means the get exhausted instead of discarded which makes them less of a pain. You also had dark embrace which made it so when you exhausted them you'd get as many cards back for your next turn. Liking the series, keep it up. (Hoping it becomes a second binding of isaac)
After watching the full series and then starting at the beginning this egg has little knowledge of his future on A20 and it's so pure

as soon as u get to the 2nd floor, cards have a chance to be allredy upgraded.
and if u reach at least the first boss u get a starting bonus for playing the same hero

Some tips from someone who has put in 100+ hours;
1. Sub par cards; Anger is 100% trash unless you have an amazing card draw run with spinning top (Allows you to draw cards as long as your hand is empty). Think about it, instead of drawing 4 damage for free, you could draw 6 damage for one. Also, armaments is not too spectacular, one copy is all you need. It just scales way too poorly in the late game, 1 energy for 5 block is pretty bad.
2. For that fight that killed you, always kill the entanglement enemy (back guy) first. He makes you vulnerable and stops you from attacking.
3. Deck management; you absolutely flooded your deck with sub par cards (Flooded deck means flooded hand. Flooded hand results in a bad time). Always try to purge your deck of at least 2-3 strikes and 1-2 block by the second floor via shops and question mark rooms and aim for about 20-25 cards by the end of the second floor. (Remember, you don't HAVE to pick a card if you don't want to. If it's trash, don't touch it). Also, don't try to include too many of one card type i.e if you all ready have one armament, do NOT get a second. Diversity is very good. *make sure it isn't too diverse such as taking exhaust powers without exhaust skills/attacks.
4. Stop over-blocking; Don't be too afraid of taking damage on the ironclad, make sure you are being efficient every turn. The longer you are in fights, the more damage you're going to take. (this will 100% come in time when you learn enemy attacks)
5. You need some sort of energy gain by the second floor (seeing red, bloodletting etc). Alternatively, upping your max energy is always good *Unless philosophers stone
6. Don't be afraid of curses, they can be removed. Relics are generally 100% worth it.
7. The most important tip I can give you; Armor cards>attacking cards when choosing. You can take it slow in this game if you need to. Honestly, you do this well but I just want to reinforce this point. If you get a choice between something like shrug it off and two attack cards like clash and perfect strike, it's generally better early on to get the armor card early on and get more damage later. It's like choosing between small rock or the relic in Issac, sure small rock is a great item that gives lots of damage, but the relic is more likely to keep you alive long enough to more likely get more damage upgrades in the future.

gamefuler good tips but you said in one that he overblocks and needs to do damage in order to not take damage, but then later on you say that its best to pick a lot of armor and take it slow?

NL's overblocking, meaning he is using block cards to save a tiny amount of HP instead of attacking. But this results in him getting to deal with the enemy longer, risking taking on much stronger attacks. Ultimately, he will lose more than he will save. Plus from what I've experienced so far, the longer you fight the more chances of getting that shitty hand with little to no block and the enemy decides to blast you with his best move. Or the enemy will keep stacking buffs and debuffs to the point that you will no longer, mathematicaly, be able to beat him.
So what gamefuler meant, prioritize good block cards (when picking up new cards) and don't be afraid of taking little hits in order to kill the enemy faster.
Yeah, when I was writing that I knew I was being a contradictory, but here's what I meant.
You want to be able to take it slow and block enough damage in order to sustain yourself yet at the same time get as much damage in as possible in order to not take more damage than you have to.
The best example i can give is the looter, he does 10 damage for 2 turns, 12 on the third, prepares his block on the 4th turn and runs on the 5th. You want to take it slow and use at least twenty armor worth of block for the first 3 turns and bash/strike many times so he doesn't run off with all your gold. If you were to block all of his attack each turn you, will never kill him. This leads to him, in most cases, dealing 5-12 damage.
Another noteable feature to playing slow vs. playing fast is that most basic mob encounters are made so you are put into a position where you can choose to take damage or block their attacks. In order maximize your odds of winning, you want to take it slow and take as little damage as possible. Bosses, however, are setup so they can one turn kill you or build up enough strength to kill you in 3-4 turns when they get to an overwhelming threshold so dealing damage as fast as possible is generally the highest percentage play..
It all comes down to maintaining the highest percentage play and maximizing energy efficiency but you're absolutely right; it is a very fine line. Thank you for pointing that out. :)

Unceasing Top is my favorite early relic. Fill a deck with Cleave, anger, flex, and seeing red. Also a block build can be fun with Blockade and body slam.
NL, please don't forget to use your feed card on enemies when you have lethal with it ♡♡
You overvalued the strike cards, given you had anger as a card you were better off scrapping cards when possible to get it more often

Hey NL, i absolutely love this series! From your preview I have been hoping for a series, and I can't get enough of these episodes; you pump them out, I'll watch. My 14 year old son loves them too, so I hope these come out in numbers!
You can get upgraded cards as rewards, that's why some of them are upgraded when you're on the card select screen. Btw awesome series, pls keep it up!! :)
NL, I know you're still learning the game and all, but I do want to try and give some advice. Stuff like Cleave that does damage to all enemies is "definitely" worth it even if it doesn't seem that way. There are a lot more encounters in the game that have multiple enemies than you were giving credit for. You should also think about removing or skipping cards more often to keep a tighter deck, because that way you can draw the cards you want more often.
I strongly disagree. 7 damage to all enemies even for 1AP isn't great. 7 damage to all enemies is only worth of it in exactly two encounters; The tiny slimes, and the small things that have Curl Up on them. However if you use Cleave on them, they use Curl Up and you won't be able to kill them on that turn. Meanwhile you can probably kill 1-2 of them with other cards and minimize the damage you take.
Furthermore AoE damage isn't that great to begin with if you can't kill all of them with that card. It's pretty obvious that in this game you should always focus on killing one enemy, then the other, and then the other and so on. If you just keep dishing out AoE damage you'll take tons of damage before the encounter ends .. likely in your death no less. The only exception is the encounter with the enemies that have Life Link on them, but 7 damage there does fuck-all.. single target is still king for getting all of them to low health.
@@Distrance I know this was 4 years ago but 7 damage to all enemies when he has a deck with decent strength is not a bad thing at all, it ramps up and helps tremendously in the later game.

NL, you have gotten me into so many different games with all of the series you do. I watched your first video in the series yesterday and immediately went to buy it. The same happened with the first video of Isaac I saw of yours, continuing with gungeon. You're a great content creator, please keep it up. I watch your videos after a long day of work and it helps me unwind and relax, I guess the point of this comment is to just say, thank you!
After the first video this already made it into my "bought because of NL" catagory alongside: Speedrunners, Duck Game,For Honor, Oxygen not included: UTC and tabletop simulator. You are annoyingly influencial over me nl but the games are good so i cant complain.

(disclaimer: i also stopped playing it so i'm not in the "guy who plays it and defends it because he doesnt want to get told that the game he plays is bad"-category)
gotta say that now that it is more or less 9 months old for honor is finally becoming what it could have been. new character classes seem to be fun, dedicated servers are here (I think?) and they seem to have done something to the turtle-meta (not sure how big the change played out because i stopped paying attention to for honor news 3 months ago but what i've seen recently on some for honor related videos it looks waaaay more enjoyable compared to half a year ago). would give it a shot again but I've no time for playing games rn... rip me xD

Egg did well considering the taskmaster is one of the harder mini-bosses in the game. Also when you are playing focus on winning normal battles more than going to mystery rooms since that allows you to build up your cards and get better consistent draws. Good luck.

40 min at most because he is bad at it overthinks things and loses early, if he gets better, he will advance further and finish faster but until then it wont get to an hour

In this run you over-prioritize max Hp and under-prioritize card draw. (Max Hp only matters when you are at Max Hp, so it doesn't matter most of the time--there is no difference between being 34/50 and 34/90. And card draw is really good, especially when you have low cost cards.)
Not having any more Spire for the next 24 hours makes me lose my determination.

From my own experience, some enemies end up dealing an absurd amount of damage sometimes, what just outright kills you depending on your deck

Hey NL, I just watched ep 1 and immediately bought the game and played for like 6 hours. It's a great game and I just wanted to say thanks for the coverage otherwise I would've never known. Keep it up bud.
NL, infernal blade gets a random card. Literally any attack card can be summoned, even Bludgeon which is a 3 energy card that deals tons of damage at 0 energy this turn and its in your deck for the combat. It's a roll of a die but its still good.

Don’t fret losing to elite enemies. The sight reading for their battles are really difficult and it takes time to get the right strategies to defeat them.

if you have the blood vial relic the vampires don't take your HP but take away the relic! I think it's a good deal since it only gives you +2 HP at the end of combat whereas Bite gives you +2 HP whenever you use it!

The vampire thing seems like the start of a side story/quest line. I can see an extra option popping up every once in a while saying "[Vampire Only] Munch down on the stranger. Gain +5 max Hp or +20 Hp"

Feed is best used early. I got that card along with bonus life from the start. Ended up with 130 something HP when it was all done.
CordovaMage agreed. Later into the game it just becomes bothersome. Especially getting close to third floor.
I have learnt, You don't need to take ALL the cards. Sometimes it's beneficial to a strategy to not take cards that will mean you don't get what you need sooner.
Love how much NL has feed in hand and can kill enemy but instead uses another attack card, pro plays.
The most amount of relics I have ever had is 75

Keep in mind, you don't have to always take the cards. Sometimes keeping a smaller deck is more beneficial.
Hey NL, you should keep as small a deck as possible, that way you will only get good cards draws (discard defends and strikes)
