- Skyblocks might just be my favourite way of playing Terraria, and Shimmering Skies is one of the most confusing and challenging ones out there! So join me as I battle my way through not just bosses and events, but the hoops I'll need to jump through and puzzles I'll need to solve just to spawn them in the first place. This challenge is going to take a lot longer than just 100 days!

I must say I love just how much gimmicky mechanics are now possible because of shimmer. I love just how much terraria has been expanded on.
I can't wait for final form Skyblock where the entire world is just a single platform with a piggy bank sitting on it, and the only items in the piggy bank are a shimmer bucket, the Golem altar, and an Old Shoe.
That's just a fraction of why terraria is peak
Terraria was already perfection, then 1.4.5 made perfection twice as good

I mean, gold is honestly mostly valueless. It holds some moderate use in the electrical field and some using is the medical field. But no where close to the cost we associate with it in reality. Several metals are way more functionally useful but lower value, like copper or palladium.

Past the ocean exists nothing at all. The people who live their lives there must fork up a fortune to get some ground under their feet.

I clicked this video expecting an exploit. Instead I got a chill-ass playthrough of a skyblock challenge.
The "I killed Fishron on the first try" bit nearly made me spit my drink. 10/10.

the fact that dirt houses would actually be luxurious in old/minecraft skyblock
Flash forward to minecraft dirt farms that use stone -> moss -> azalea -> rooted dirt -> path block -> dirt
Or just spruce saplings.
Or you could buy gravel from a fletcher and make coarse dirt... then just hoe it into farmland... boom, dirt.

I love this type of a video, chill, everything progressing slowly, no heavy editing, just the way I like.
for your i frames comment during moon lord, I wouldn't be surprised if the moon boulders use general i frames instead of moon lord's i frames

You can throw the key into shimmer to get an empty biome chest though
It's very funny to me how modded Minecraft mod packs often disable any form of universal uncrafting, but Terraria skyblocks are entirely built around it. Neither are better or worse than the other, it's just interesting to see how different a direction terraria went with the same concept.
I think that comes from uncrafting being a vanilla thing in terraria and a modded thing in minecraft, so most terraria mods are balanced around it existing but that’s not the case in minecraft. You can have other mods in the pack that did not anticipate decrafting and then the balance is all out of whack
Sometimes you can find end game items in chests, but the materials to make it are much more difficult to get. With uncrafting, you would have a much easier access to these materials. For skyblock, you could trade with villagers to get diamond gear, and uncraft them for infinite easy diaminds, while actual diamonds are unobitainable in vanilla skyblock
I think also, MC has issues because items can have multiple recipes.
@@crazybeatrice4555terraria items can have multiple recipes too, like many items being craftable with both iron and lead bars. In this case the game seems to just pick one or the other, i don't know whether this is a manual process for the developers though.

I can’t say the exact odds, but it’s happened to me a few times. Usually it’s with bigger enemies though, that star seemed particularly set on killing that nation.

43:45 - fun fact, you don't have to clear jungle vegetation for Life Fruit to grow, it'll naturally replace them

does that mean there's a chance fully overgrown jungle is better for spawning it? If it shares any spawn probabilities with other things that don't replace that way

With the Crystal Vile Shard, you can spawn in Mechdusa, immediately locate the area where the Destroyer is uncoiling, and spam the Crystal Vile Shard on his encoiled parts. It worked great in my Legendary Getfixedboi playthrough, he died in 10 seconds

Here is a little tip: When fishing for quests, you can put the quest fish in a chest, which allows you to catch it again, stack up on them this way, so you can instantly redeem the quest next time.
I like that it's a challenge run from the view of knowledge, not pure crackhead "never get hit ever" gameplay
at this point it'll reach the point minecraft skyblock has where you spawn on a single block in a snow biome or a crimson fungus in the nether.

All of Moonlord’s attacks use what’s called Local iFrames (or is it Static iFrames? They’re similar, I forget). these iFrames protect you from other hits of the same attack. This was done to prevent pea damage cheese, but a side effect is that you can get hit rapidly by two different Moon Lord attacks because their iFrame timers are entirely separate.

this video caught me off guard with how engaged i was, i keep being like “how tf is he gonna do x step next? you can’t do that” and then he DOES and im all like :0 over and over again!
I think the best part of the video is the absolute cheeky lines with the fun Irish accent with the deadpan voice all combined. Because hearing someone so unenthusiastically praise an item with complete and utter sass with some razzmatazz is great.

I'm in the same boat, I mostly just use the wiki to keep track of all the ingredients for the shellphone and the ankesheild

44:26 I don't know a lot about the changes from different seeds, but I think you should be able to do so. Make an artificial evil biome, farm for vertebra/rotten chunks and combine then with powdera on the altar to craft the boss summon

Cultists don’t check for block type, they just spawn at the old mans spawn location if there’s enough blocks for them all

Since Getfixedboi contains every seed combined into one, including for the worthy
FtW worlds affects the difficulty displayed in world selection

Expert -> Master
Master -> Legendary
Legendary mode also provides no additional exclusive content despite its name

I have only spent 1.3 hours memorizing anything from the terraria wiki, everything else i learn from experience like a true gamer
the music lining up with the block placement at 21:09 is just... perfect, chefs kiss
You could make more rails and slope them between the top and bottom. Using a hammer, it's possible to make dual rail tracks that you need to hold up or down to select a path through.
This was my first time building a railway, but comments like this are teaching me a lot about how to use them in future playthroughs. Thanks for the advice!

You can also hammer the ends of rails to make them open-ended or bounce you backwards with the same speed. If you found a Tavernkeep and got the Brand of the Inferno, you could also parry through the Destroyer/Mechdusa using the Shield of Cthulu to take no damage when turning around on the bounce rails, though I haven't done this before and don't know how hard it would be.
@@gamerdomain6618 Brand of the Inferno isn't obtainable in Shimmering Skies, but the Segeant Shield United is and it also has the parry mechanic.
Bonus fact: You can cheese enraged Duke Fishron with nothing but well placed blocks to stop the sharknados and parrying all his dashes.
Chain knife, and zombie arm are also weapons you could get. You also could get a useful shackle
This could be my lack of expertise and knowledge of Legendary/Remix Seeds, but 44:19 couldn't you still craft a Bloody Spine/Worm Food with an artificial evil biome?
That being said, for someone who shivers when clicking the expert mode button this was super awesome to watch, thank you!
There is an island that does have a Demon Altar, but apparently it's considered a "cheat". Without the Altar or Orbs/Hearts, it is impossible to summon the World Evils.

I think I've spent 56 hours in total memorizing the Terraria wiki, but I don't want the special prize. The special prize was getting to watch this video
I figured it was a mimic about 3:30 min into the video, and i have never memorized a single part of the wiki, this is just from 1200 hours of gameplay across modded and vanilla

The moment you entered hardmode it became increasingly obvious that you dont play summoner/mage multiclass often, as you entirely avoided the forbidden armor.
I didn’t avoid it per se, it’s just really annoying to get the forbidden fragments
@@ChiefLogan_ While that i understand, the armor itself is a direct improvement to hybrid builds of mage/summoner over the spider armor, as it provides the defense you desperately needed, and a good damage boost to boot, but i understand if you never got any high wind days, as when wind speed is maxed, sandstorms are present...
and sometimes you can go actual days without any fucking wind, which is annoying.
You can shimmer Frost Cores into Forbidden Fragments tho

apparently in 1.4.5 they will change banners, you now dont get one every 50 but rather after you kill 50 you unlock the banner a new menu used for spawning any unlocked banner.

I don't think that's how this works, the system just means that the menu will store banners that you've collected to stop clogging your inventory, not that once collected banner could be infinitely spawned. So in short, you can just collect them when you're ready to store/place them instead of having them in inventory

You can craft a bloody spine or worm food with 30 corrupt/crimson powder and some vertebrae/rotten chunks. The dryad sells powder during blood moons, so it's probably possible.
The problem was a lack of a demon or crimson altar, which is needed to make a bloody spine or worm food

My immediate thought with the double rail thing for the WoF was just, adding a sort of criss-cross pattern of additional rails between them, hammering the intersections so that you go along the main rails continuously unless you hold up or down

You can, but they require an altar. There’s only one altar in this world and it’s on the “cheat” island for completionists. I decided against using it

if i may, on the matter of your rail to beat the wall of flesh. what you need to do is build a track switch down every half a screen or so, its what i use for my early game eye of cthulu fight allowing you to both dodge upwards but still use the bottom track.
Wasn't from the wiki, was from playing remix, and having run into one so early I had to pillar up, and drop ASH BLOCK (it's a falling block half the time) to suffocate it, as I couldn't win with a copper short sword.
This reminds me to put a toilet at each of my fishing spots. Don't really need 5 more points, but it IS hilarious... specially if I use Terra Toilets. (though balloon ones would look the most "normal")

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I'm a long time Terraria fan, and I've beaten the game multiple times, but I've never beaten Master mode. To see you do all this under such difficult conditions, on Legendary, and put in the dedication to grind for hours for your fans' entertainment is quite astonishing. I also loved the Stardew Valley joke! I will be subscribing to you.

You can beat the game with 2 mud, 1 dirt, a lihzahrd wall, a lihzahrd altar, and a lihzahrd brick, and that's WITHOUT glitches. By no means is this the minimum requirement. Do better.
About you comment on the Sentries and Evil bosses. You can fight the Evil bosses by crafting their Boss summons at the altar and unlocking the Tavernkeep. You could also set up an Ice biome and wait for a storm to summons deerclops. Great Video nonetheless!!!

These type of videos are why Terraria will always beat Minecraft in my heart. The degree of challenge, how unique stuff is, and the amount of detail will always surpass Minecraft despite my personal relation with it.

Hello, I have earned your respect by predicting that the secret enemy in question was the mimic. I have spent around 10~ hours total in my Terraria career browsing the wiki.
Watching you play through this just reminds me that there are a lot of bosses in Terraria I hate, mostly because the best strategies usually devolve into "sprint across the map" since bosses don't understand the concept of personal space. I would be super into the boss fights if dealing with their patterns was more of a puzzle and less of "try to dodge everything until it screws up your groove via contact damage" and you could do it in a confined space.
Such a creative skyblock challenge, I applaud you sir

After the first 3 dirt bombs I like how the idea was then to extend the platform to lower the difficulty of collecting the bottom part of the dirt bomb - I like their gameplay
I love watching terraria videos because I have no clue what's going on
One way to trivialize the moon lord is to build a rail path in the sky at least a fourth of the map long, and go back and forth. You'll move faster than his attacks can track you, and the only risky part us when you turn around.
Finally, someone is actually using the empress of light theme in the video, while fighting her. This track is truly a banger
