What is the top management strategy that you're excited to try out?

I have to say the management is not easy, but it is so worth the results. Erica has been great at helping us with our dogs reactive moments. These moments are with my husband with which our dog is reactive when I am at home and he is scared of my husband. In order to have a calm evening, there is much management I have to do to keep peace at home. Lots of counter conditioning with treats and lots of patience is what it comes down to. So this is different than leash walking but the management is still the same.

Thank you for yet another super helpful video. My dog, Espy. and I have worked together with many of your suggestions in videos and people can not believe she is the same dog I rescued. Some of the management things you are teaching in this video will be very helpful for us. Thank you!

Me and my sibling got in a huge disagreement about walking my dog in the neighborhood, I had decided not to walk her in neighborhoods bc she’s constantly at her threshold basically from the moment we’re out the door. My sibling disagreed and said that she needs to just be forced into it and getting used to it and I need to just engage her in me more🤦🏽🙄
Hearing another person confirm that not all dogs have to walk on neighborhoods rlly helped me and reminded me that I’m doing this for my dog not other ppl if she don’t wanna walk in a neighborhood and I know I don’t want to walk in a neighborhood well then we’re not walking in this neighborhood.
Especially the one I live in where ppl don’t manage their dogs in their front yards and we’ve been run up on by those dogs and there’s cats everywhere 😰 it’s actually hell out there

Neighborhoods can be so challenging, especially when there are so many loose dogs. I feel your pain. ❤️

Hi Erica! We continue to use these management strategies with our rescue pittie, Jamie, that you taught the three of us in your training sessions, which were excellent! He remains a “puller” at the beginning of every walk until he finds the perfect bush for his “business,” and during novel walks in new places. Would love to try to see whether an older dog(6 years, most likely) can learn new leash skills. Thanks!

These management skills are specifically for handling reactivity concerns - and polite leash walking is often another animal entirely! :) the first thing I like to address is the underlying reason for the pulling. I, personally, am less concerned with a dog who is pulling to “do their business” - mostly because I can empathize with how they feel in that moment! 😂 I know that I need to use the bathroom pretty urgently in the morning, and I’m going to hurry to get there!
That said, it is absolutely possible for a six year old dog to learn better leash walking skills. It might be a bit more of an uphill battle since you are combating a longer learning history - but it is definitely not impossible!
I would highly recommend watching the leash walking tutorials provided by Kikopup on her TH-cam channel. Emily gives a pretty well-rounded explanation of how to approach this specific set of skills! 👍🏻

Do you have any thoughts on the Bubble Theory Training? If so, could you make a video about it?

It’s not a theory of training I’m familiar with. A quick google is finding descriptions all over the place! We rely on BAT training and Control Unleashed primarily with our clients. That might be a good place to start too!
