Animals have advanced intelligence that can manifest problematic emotional states, like humans- unlike insects and amoeba.
He essentially has good people's skills... but with animals. He's had years of experience, a true passion and he puts in more than his 10,000 hours.
People say practice makes perfect, but in reality perfect practice makes perfect. Too many people in trades forsake the basics and that's why there are people who have a trade for 40+ years and still suck at it. He doesn't skip steps, adapts seamlessly and he sets calculated goals at a whim to prevent the worse case scenario.
Anyone can do that, if they are willing to put the time and effort in... and don't get so egotistical they throw off their game. I guess unless your brain chemistry is off.
The Seinfeld's have an obnoxious ego and think that a professional can't solve an issue they create...

We also adopted a dog (a tiny dappled coat Chihuahua) who seems to have been previously abused or at least neglected. She bonded with me immediately and follows me everywhere like we're attached but she STILL is wary with our kids even though they are not little (youngest just turned 12) and they are very gentle. Luckily she loves my hubby but it's taken time for her to be ok with anyone else and we still work on it. She's very shy like Jerry's dog. Not aggressive and doesn't bark much. We had never dealt with a dog like her so it took us time to understand that she needed to be gently prodded to go outside her comfort zone. We often give guests a couple small treats to give to her when she comes to them to reinforce that behavior and over time she's definitely opened up more.
I love Caesar's show and I agree that it's almost always the humans around the dog that need to learn, I just wish that people would be less judgemental with that info. I see them just tearing apart owners under videos like this and that is so uncalled for. Many times the pet parents are trying to do the right thing and really care about their dog(s) and it's not remotely helpful to judge and shame them. It's like shaming parents of misbehaving children. Those parents are often overwhelmed, embarrassed, and trying their best with the knowledge and tools they have. They need some understanding and compassion that can open them up to learning new ways, not a shaming session that just puts up their defenses and makes things worse.

@@CesarMillanOfficial Hola Cesar. Como estas? I guess this is an emotional question as much as a moral one.....how do you personally cope when travelling to different countries, and seeing all the homeless, sick dogs, (or even other animals), on the streets? As an empath, I found it extremely disturbing and saddening when my husband & I went to visit the family in Peru, (he is an indigenous Peruvian), and there were literally thousands of dogs on the streets in various stages of illness. This distressed my enormously, as we do not have this problem in Australia. My heart broke everytime we went out of the house!! And the lack of attention from people there, stunned me. It was like the dogs were living their life alongside the humans, but the two species never took any notice of each other at all! My husband said that this was just how it is, and some people own dogs there, but still dont take good care of them, health wise. This astonished me, as in Australia, we are a country of dog lovers, and we take very good care of them like they are our children almost. Anyway.....how do you emotionally deal with this type of situation when you are travelling and witnessing this? Do you just shut off your empathic feelings because the problem is just too confronting or huge to deal with for one person? I found I had to just look away most of the time and just send healing, loving energy to that dog in the moment. (some of them were visibly very sick looking!). I guess I'm asking you as a dog lover....what strategies do you use to deal with distressing situations like this when you witness illness in street animals, or even abuse? Thankyou for your constant love and compassion for animals. May the energy of Pachamama always bless your journey.......and the power of the Rainbow Serpent protect you.....

To give the benefit of the doubt, the show likely told them to not try and correct their dog while filming so the audience can fully grasp the problem behaviors. Makes for better television. This isn't to excuse or explain away the problems that their behavior - or lack of - is creating, just another dimension or perspective to consider.

Funny thing is that a LOT of couples have one spouse who does that holding & coddling behavior with the dog- and it's not always the wife. There was the Cesar 911 episode with the Greek guy who got a kick out of the fact that he let his dogs bark at customers in his restaurant AND basically push his wife out of their bed! He held them & coddled them & coo cooed them until they were aggressively out of control. He actually told Cesar that he saw his dogs' behavior as being Greek like he is. Whoa! Cesar to the rescue!

    • @catharineorellana3522
      @catharineorellana3522 3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

@@LH23511 You have a point about Jerry's behavior. But his wife ALSO feeds into this by coddling the dogs. She was reinforcing to them, by being so permissive, that it was she who was the softie in the family & Jerry was the meanie. This is a typical dynamic that plays out between parents with their human kids. The weak push-over parent vs the tyrant/rules-oriented parent. Do you remember the Cesar 911 episode with the Greek guy & his little white dogs who he allowed to terrorize the customers at his restaurant? He coddled those dogs so much that not only had they become neurotically aggressive but he also allowed the dogs to dominate the marital bed! The wife was literally pushed to the side! So, it's not only the women who coddle little dogs! But whoever is doing the coddling, that person doesn't realize that they are creating the opposite of their desired outcome! Same with human kids!!!

What a beautiful little doxie, and she was just waiting to feel comfortable being the little sweetheart she is. I have a 12 year old chiweenie, named Charlie, that a friend rescued from the street, when he was about 6 months old (as determined by his vet). My friend had pit bulls, so he asked if I could take the dog because I rescue any dogs who need rescuing and then find their home or rehome them. But my little Charlie was just too cute to not keep him. He was found in the rain, emaciated, infested with fleas and ticks and nearly dead from anemia and he'd clearly been physically abused. Needless to say, there was no way I was going to get him back to his abusive home, and he was just to cute not to keep him. So I got him the vet care he needed and worked with him to build his confidence and trust. He's been healthy, and happy ever since and you'd never have a clue he was abused. I'm a lifelong dog (and cat and bird) owner, yet I've never received any education in any animal studies and I struggle to understand why it isn't common sense that a scared animal needs to have their confidence built up, no different than a scared child. But I am glad Cesar exists to teach humans how to work with their dogs.

I felt an instant kinship with Foxy, finding little to no relief from intense focus on the "I am not safe", which has left me with little quality of life. Yeah, love it when Cesar finally get to show that he is in fact really good and not "beating" dogs into submission..
So many people doesn't understand, that when he started, he only got the dogs that were extremely aggressive, like going to seriously hurt or even kill you, aggressive, and he needed to match their energy.
Which meant that his corrections had to be strong and also blocking the brain from escalating.
I thought for a long time, that he was unreasonable to the dogs, until I saw him work with this beagle, that had been a lab testing dog.
It didn't want anything to do with people, and how soft he was, helping the dog to finally choose to be with its owners. To want to be with them, and he didn't use any force, just gentleness.
And that's when I understood his methods.
So I love when they show how he can also match soft energy, and that's why his dogs loves him, they aren't really beaten into submitting to him, he's just a good stable leader.

Cesar, I'm fostering a 8 yr old German Shepherd with severe separation anxiety and abandonment issues, as well as aggression towards kids and other dogs. I've been doing everything that you encourage for three weeks now and I believe in this little guy, but I would love your professional guidance.

So he's protecting you from your environment? Ever since I am confident (but I do know it's 99,9% fantasy) that I can knock out Mayweather, my little whippet does not run after animals in the forest anymore (99% improvement). My neighbour has an army German Shepherd. He has used force ever since little one was a pup, when he disobeyed, but dogs understand when the force is used for good, or bad - they feel intentions - energy behind the action - that's why his dog is almost perfect companion for all of us now. These Shepherds feel pain only at the head part according to him. Well, the dog is obeying, is safe for children, even tho everybody would fear this Wolf, not a shepherd, he's calm and warm. He said many times, a Shepherd needs a mans hand and not much so a loving hand - because they're a pack of wolves, they respect powerful, confident aura and system. My neighbour is something I can only hope to be at all times, calm and composed, a true soldier :D blablabla, good luck!

Omg yes I have a GSD whos 2 1/2 years old, I need help too, I’ve tried everything he’s said, I’ve tried everything victoria has said(it’s me or the dog) I’ve looked up 25 different websites i dont know what to do.. I won’t get into all his problems because it’s really long but he’s VERY VERY insecure, and GSD aren’t suppose to be :( they’re suppose to be VERYY confident! And his insecurities turn into aggression and our other dog doesn’t help, if a dog comes up to us she’ll bark and growl and lunge and he’ll start too but if bourbon tries and she stops he’ll stop too, he’s a very submissive dog, just very fearful, if I tell him to shush he’ll stop, he gets loots of training and gets 3 20 minute walks a day(sometimes 30-40 minute run with just me(other dog is 8 and has hip problems)) I believe that the other dog caused it because he didn’t do it until they were charged by an off leash dog and bourbon tried to attack feeling threatened(who can blame her, PLUS she’s a rescue(was abused) and she’s fine with people and dogs as long as the dogs don’t bark growl or get to close. People she has noooo problems at all) she walks good(though I don’t agree with my brothers way, because he smacks her with the bottom of the leather leash, and if he even holds it up she’ll cower and grunt(he’s stubborn and won’t listen)) but yeah he’s super well trained and will stop barking 85% of the time, has never bit anyone or any dog that I know of. He’s okay with the neighbors puppy unless Bourbons(other dog) is out there(another reason why I think she’s the problem) uhm.. he loves toddlers and babies(kids are meh), he’s okay with women but HATES men. Like he will not stop.. he’ll cower and run and if I even walk close to them he’ll start going ballistic. He’s charged to protect me with snakes, and possums(my dad one night when it was super dark but my fear struck high because I thought it was an intruder) plus this dog loves me, he never leaves my side lol and if I leave he will bark at any noise and is just super alert, I think I’m doing something right though cuz if I walk inside my dogs bark and start charging the door but I’ll say anything and they stop(knowing it’s me?), I feel like if I were to invite someone into the house it would go better just because I’m the only one who works with them! And this came out super long ;-;’ sorryyy

As a dog owner its always the owner not the dog. We have a Dachshund female who is four years old who is adorable and loves boys more because she loves them. Also Dachshunds don't have owners they have staff. Both dogs are poorly trained, Doxies love to bark and it is a non stop training challenge. Very rewarding dogs, very clever and very loving.

I have learned so much from watching him, it has elevated my consciousness and has helped me connect with many “troubled” dogs. I am always telling friends/fam , there is no such thing as bad dogs just bad owners. If we love animals, we need to stop living in ignorance and get educated. Learning to speak 🗣 the dogs language and understanding them. Many of the things I learn, I vocalize with others- most of the time they have NO IDEA! I don’t own a pet (disabled and cannot afford one at the moment) & I know more about dog behavior than most owners I know. This cannot continue! Educate yourselves! 🙏🏽🥰Cesar is amazing
