It took me a bit of time to understand the "fairytale" line - Flamme existed so long ago that she became a fairytale. Thus Himmel started making statues as a proof they really existed and to remind Frieren of this.
For 7 episodes we are introduced to this cute aloof elf collecting silly spells, and we forget that she was part of the party who killed the DK. Now, we are about to see her nasty side and will understand why Frieren in German means "be cold/freeze".
oh don't worry guys, heiter is definitely also a very powerful priest. he just doen't seem like it with how he behave usually. and you know he's essentially the healer of the party so its a less flashy role.
I feel bad for the demon kid - well you would be eaten by now 🙂. Lugner improvised on the spot by seing all those images on the wall. He came up with thy dad story.
Sage is literally a wiseman. However, in fantasy it is sometimes used as a title: “The Sage of Something”. In this case, Aura is the “Sage of Destruction”. And it's usually the highest title after ruler (here after Demon King). As I recall, it was mentioned that there were 7 of them. Aura turned out to be alive.
This episode is important for setting down what demons are in this world: predators who prey on us. They are intelligent, but they lack a lot of our emotions, as this would hamper their ability to prey on us. Some people don't get this, as they think Frieren is racist for hating demons and wanting to kill them. The next couple of episodes will continue on this. Later in the manga we meet a pair of really scary demons. I hope we see them in Season 2!
Every series show demons in different ways & in this episode, they hammer it home twice that they're absolutely evil. That being said, when an early favourite character survey went out, many people voted for Aura. 😅
in frieren demon is predator but you couldn't think them like lion. demons here is only thinking on how killing and wiping human race not to eat them but to eredicate them
These kinds of "demons" are the same as the scary looking monsters we've seen so far. They just happen to mimic human appearance and speech. I wouldn't even compare them to real world predators like tigers or sharks since even the inhuman looking monsters are more advanced in their methods and capabilities. They are so hard wired they are less like any real world animals and more like insects. Tigers are solitary apex predators but they can still comprehend affection. A tiger cub can imprint on a human. Even many lizards and sharks can learn to enjoy the feeling of being pet and seek out humans to get more pets from them. Ants and spiders don't get it whether young or old.
@7:42 Duude. I would TOTALLY recommend Dragon Quest XI for that feel. Metaphor: ReFantazio, Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy XII as well, in that order.
Okay so, this is complex. I understand the framing of demons in this episode, of course. Evil beings and all But thinking a living being is just hardwired as such to do certain things is a mighty dangerous belief, to define "the other" as inhuman. I wonder where the series will take this idea.
A sage is basically a respected expert who is known for their knowledge and wisdom. I think someone like Einstein would be a modern version of a sage. I think that they mean these demons are very powerful mages, maybe with great knowledge of magic, but it doesn't really fit the word sage very well, to me anyway. A sage is about knowledge and wisdom, not about power.
yeah its just inevitable at this point. personally we don’t feel like we’re missing the major points but we do try to pause more to catch more details and this show does feel like it needs more than one watch to catch all the details but let us know if there’s something u think we should know!
@@tobototoki People worry too much about you (or other reactors) missing stuff. anything big is gonna pop up in the comments, and the samll stuff you miss makes a rewatch so much more fun in the future
Appreciate u saying this and we will certainly try to catch as much as we can on the first watch! Definitely need to rewatch tho to get more details and the comments from everybody helps a ton
Also, I think it's best to pause the episode whenever you need to talk, so you don't miss anything. You don't have to worry about annoying your viewers; most of them have likely already seen the episode, probably multiple times. They just want to see you fully appreciate this beautiful show.

Ahhhhhhh okay this makes much more sense
A sage is just a wise person.

CAN'T WAIT
The way that Frieren (the story) examines the psychology of the demons is truly *golden*.

I know Ashley was laughing at something else here but the timing of the laugh and the vision of a village burning in the background is just... 🤣
LMAO I just went back and rewatched that 😂

That’s just wrong
Individually, demons are just like monsters that possess magic.
But a group, they kinda like evil.

yes i can definitely see them eradicating
Doesn't meet the standars for "evil". So no, this are by all means " beasts", at least the ones depicted so far...
