    It's great to see these budget USA-made options. I have shifted recently to actually pay attention to where things are made. I was never picky before, I was mainly interested in quality wherever it came from. But now I am definitely looking with the hope to find a good product for a good price made in the USA. This is one that I will definitely have to consider next time I'm in the knife-buying zone. Great content, as usual!

    I "overpaid" for this at a hardware store as an impulse buy but i was shocked to see the made in usa on the blade. Its so light i legit forget i have it when i go to put my phone in the same pocket.

    I have the one with partial serration. I fell in love with it as soon as I took it out of the package... it’s so light!! I also think it the sexiest knife I’ve got. Can’t put it down.

    We grow acres of watermelon and cantaloupe on our farm and it is my go to knife for cutting them in the field. The serrated version is perfect for sawing through the rind.

    They got 2/3's of the way there for it to be fully ambidextrous. Lock & opening hole are perfect. Why not make the clip reversible? Doesn't even have to be tip up/down reversible, just side to side even if they have to provide a second clip like Cold Steel. Tack on another dollar or two for a second left hand clip.
    This would also make a great platform for a steel upgrade for that increased cost. Doesn't have to be super steel but something better for $20 or $25 would likely sell well.

  • @jimchesslock5790
    @jimchesslock5790 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I began carrying this knife in the summer cuz it's so lightweight yet here we are mid Oct and I cant let it go. I love that u can sharpen the serrations like a straight edge. I believe the clip is tech friendly, wont scratch your phone in pocket. Razor sharp. Dislikes? The deployment takes some practice but it's more gratifying once u do master it. My centering is a tad off. Very slight blade play. Jumping could be better. Overall cant beat it for the money. Tough to go back to a heavier blade after carrying this one. I might be stuck.

  • @drMINDdamage
    @drMINDdamage 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I got it with the serated blade on my second trip to the US back in 2017 from Walmart for 7 bucks.. Haha the cashier at the guns/knives section had it placed on a $7 tag and couldn't find a box nor any info on it so he had to sell it to me for the price tag that was on it. Back then it was just released and the cost was about 40 dollars, so that was an absolute steal. I still carry it to this day. Absolutely great EDC.

  • @ryanbong9984

    I bought mine back when it was just shy of $30 at Meyer. I bought it because it was a cheaper USA made knife and I too didn’t want to like it. I like stout knives and this felt light (although sturdy). The problem is it keeps finding its way to my pocket because it’s pretty awesome! Seriously, it keeps coming back for more (edc, construction work). Also, if you use heavy wrist action, you can totally spider-flick it.

  • @mikesharratt5816

    I recently bought the sharkbelly. Great knife for the money. My #1 thing I would change is make a larger hole in the blade to make it easier to open. I am left handed and it is fine in my left pocket.

    • @gideonstactical
      @gideonstactical  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike Sharratt Thank you for that feedback I hope that helps some lefties out. Yes I totally agree the deployment hole could be a little bit bigger.

  • @arie1293
    @arie1293 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can’t get enough purchase on the thumb cutout to flick it open but the ergos once deployed and how well it disappears in my pocket are excellent. Since it is tip down carry I found it easier to hold it by the blade and flick the handle out instead. The only draw back is having to reposition my hand down to the handle after.

  • @SuperMurrayb
    @SuperMurrayb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good video. Mine has the serrated edge. It is easier to sharpen than most serrated blades because of the way it is ground. Mine has some kind of nylon washers on the blade. The more I use the knife the more I like it and I can afford to replace it when I lose it and I know I will lose it sooner or later. Thanks for posting the informative video.

    Gerber has a long way to go to get my business again. Hopefully, this is a good start. I will keep watching. I do like a good sheepsfoot/Wharncliff blade.

    I picked up the serrated version at Walmart for $7 on clearance. Normally I am not a fan of partially serrated blades however the way they did the serrations are great since they maintained the normal edge at the same time. I would be more likely to buy combo blades if they were made this way. The clip is ok until you bend it and then good luck bending it back due to the curve.

    I just purchased one myself, an its a nice knife, still don't know what drew me to it as I normally like something like the Artisan Cutlery Jungle, or something with alittle more heft, but have a real like for this, I live in Titusville fl an will diffently be using this as a beach knife, a pool knife an sleep pants knife, its so light, with a great blade steel, slim profile. It earns some pocket time at a very reasonable price. An its Made in the USA!

    Hey Aaron, if you're looking for something to review, you should consider reviewing the two multitools that are made by Amazon. They're sold under their Amazon Basics line. They're only around $15 each and I couldn't find any reviews of them on youtube. They might be trash, but Amazon Basics has surprised me in the past with some good stuff, so who knows. Just an idea, take care.

    I am surprised how much I have bonded w this knife. So lightweight, even in summer shorts it's like its not there. Love blade length & fact serrations can be sharpened like plain edge. Its sharp af! Pocket clip doesn't scratch my phone. Jimping not the best. Tough to deploy even after much practice. Very non threatening appearance. This might be my favorite in my rotation. Being USA made seems much more important to me than when I bought it yrs ago. Warning it's so lightweight it sorta ruined me for my other knives I regularly use(Tenacious, Rat 1, Impulse 2, Destination.) Especially for summer use.

    I don't understand why people are so adamant on buying knives in the USA when most everything else is made somewhere else. Don't get me wrong I love stuff like U.S made Kershaws and Golden Colorado Spydercos, but I don't necessarily understand why what country knife is made in matters.

    • @huejanus5505
      @huejanus5505 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's not so important that it's made in the US, but there is one certain country I will make a concerted effort not to buy from.

    • @lonestarpatriot876
      @lonestarpatriot876 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@huejanus5505 I am going to guess you mean China. I understand this sentiment. With that said, I would venture to guess that everyone in America has alot of things made in China. It may not be a knife but how many things do you have around your house that are made in China? I also know of many American companies that have their stuff manufactured in China. And if I am being honest, I know of some outstanding products that are being produced there for American companies.

    • @lonestarpatriot876
      @lonestarpatriot876 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am going to add to my prior comment. Sitka, made in China. KUIU, made in China, Primary Arms, made in China. All of these are top notch products from American Companies that are made in China. If they were made here you would be paying even more than you do already for their stuff and that would be mostly due to labor costs. Primary Arms makes some of the best budget optics out there. So much so that Trijicon asked to use their reticles in their stuff. With that said, it is made to the exacting standards of the owner. Sitka and KUIU make some of the best outdoor clothing known to mankind. Both are American companies that have their fabrics produced in China because China produces some of the finest textiles in the world. And both are made to the specifications of the companies China is making the stuff for. I won't buy any other outdoor clothing but KUIU. The innovation and performance of the fabrics is unmatched IMHO and many others.

    • @Surago
      @Surago 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chaotic Reefer for some of us buying American made is just a preference because we want our economy to thrive from within. If you buy Chinese or Japanese made products sold by an American company it’s mostly the company that makes a profit. I want the workforce to make a profit.

    • @lonestarpatriot876
      @lonestarpatriot876 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Potato Eater I get it trust me. I am a Spyderco and Esee guy. I love their stuff and they do a good job at value for quality. That is big for me. And they fit for my uses. I own a business also so I understand alot from that side. It costs manufacturers a ton of money in America to produce the same exact item, made of the same exact materials and specs, as some other countries. That is why many American companies outsource this stuff. And as much as some may hate it, it is capitalism in it's truest form. And capitalism is very American. I am all about buying American, but, only when the value and quality are in balance. If American companies manufactured great items at good prices, they would not have to worry about what China is doing. Being capitalist, it up to us to compete with them on that front.

    Bought 3 of these with the serrated combo for me and my best friends for Christmas! I have a beautiful civivi wyvern damascus edc on the way, but I got these for the intention of using them as work horses!
