I've lost a lot of time playing around on Heroforge! I do think they seriously need to up the poly-count on their models however, the faceting is very apparent and they're really showing their age a bit now, especially at $8 just for an STL! But for a super custom model posted exactly and equipped almost exactly how you want it, it's still pretty hard to beat.
Yes it's something I realised on a lot of the armour pieces it felt low poly
Have a look at Eldritch Foundry. They're a similar service, but the "sculpts" are a different style and they feel finer somehow.
It’s true what they say: If you ever see an STL you like, download it even if you aren’t ready to print it yet (especially if it’s free).

I've played Warhammer fantasy and 40k since Rouge trader. There were several d.i.y. suggestions for table top buildings, terrain and ways to kit bash things. Gw crying about people not wanting to spend hard earned money to buy "their" models is just money grabbing. I mean we all know it, but now their sacred bottleneck is threatened. This is the heart of the original culture, Crafting and modeling.
In case Phrozen keeps up with the creators they sponsor. You all being cool enough to set Sam up with a 4k printer as part of a sponsorship before he hit every other company's subscriber threshold has made me target the Mighty 4k as my next upgrade printer.
Gotta give it up to you! The community in the discord is awesome and these videos are the best tool to have when getting new people into the hobby. I've gotten friends to start hobbying with me by simply offering to print out whatever models they want if they just pay for the files and materials.

Yeah you can fit imperial knight parts on a Mars 2 Pro plate just takes a few plate fulls

It's 90% down to Heroforge. They give you all the weapons outfits and gear and you can just assemble a custom figure from that. Well worth checking out if you want a completely unique character figure.

I have the Anycubic Photon Mono 4k, but you don’t really hear how difficult resin printing is to dial in. Had a streak of prints that failed by sticking to the FEP sheet, and adding supports is a little confusing. It’s all experience and basically becoming a pro at printing. I love printing new models, but the learning curve is steep.

I'm so glad you got a chance to experince a Wash n' Cure Station. Its not a luxury at all, more of a necessity. Last thing you need is a Cheaper Resin solution. You need to go with Sunlu and some Tenacious. You will save so much money on resin, that you will prefer printing your terrain in resin.
I think the reason why the layouts are boring is they lack elements of verticality. they need to have multiple levels/decks. stairs, ramps, pits, sublevels, etc...

It's not just you Sam, the current run of Kill Team boxes are all the same. I got some of the Puppetswar insectoids recently and they're a great (and legal) replacement for 'nids. There are a few MDF based options available for Gallowdark type space hulk walls and pillars that won't have your bank account plummeting like an imperial drop pod. The Hateful Eight models are fantastic.
