2:32 I wanted to adress something after playing with Brass Beast on ctf and payload maps. This weapon isn't just close to turning you into a sentry when spun up. You BECOME a sentry as soon as you put brass beast in your loadout.
I’ve just started really trying this thing out after around eight years of playing tf2. I’m in love with this weapon. Paired with the chocolate bar you have an effective health of 385. So you can tank way more, and also deal insane amounts of damage. You just have to use cover and buildings more often to ambush people and stay out of sniper sight lines. I’ve found spies are actually easier to handle with this thing because you melt them up close. It’s just huntsman snipers that you have to be super careful with
I love this thing, it's the most beautiful thing for tearing up heavy med combos solo and holding chokes or even pushing EXTREME chokes (I'm talking triple sentry heavy med chokes). The damage is just enough to outweigh it's downsides with it's ability to push through any healing including quick fix ubers and sentries, ESPECIALLY with larger immobile targets, not to mention it's damage resistance is just an awesome feeling of pure power, like nothing can kill you before they get shredded. The ultimate defence minigun, although still a liability in larger open areas
Another good strategy for brass beast heavies is to equip a shotgun and hold it out when moving to the front line. This will insure that you will have a secondary damage dealing option in case a flanking scout or whatever tries to ruin your day. If you think of your shotgun as your primary and the brass beast as a sort of fast deploying sentry to use on a choke point, it actually proves to be really effective in both offense and defense.
5:29 Technically it wouldn’t activate EARLIER than before (if anything it would activate later because you need to take 25 extra damage), but that DOES mean that it lasts longer, allowing you to be tankier for even longer than before.
1:05 Ey he fixed it! But yeah I've watched so many guides for this thing.. the downsides are just too nasty to deal with.. I don't even touch this thing in MvM as being able to close the distance with the robots (as well as enemy players in regular play) tends to outshine that 20% bonus, that and I'm not complete bait.
In regular multiplayer you have a fair point.. but mvm? The brass beast is one of the best weapons inside of mvm because of the flat damage buff. You dont need to 'close the distance' because you have all the time in the world pre round to position yourself and the bots walks towards you.
@@uperpie Guess that depends how active you want to be in MvM, Myself? I like to get resistances so i can get in there to mitigate the damage fall off, something the Brass Beast makes a lot of cumbersome. Plus the robots tend to come out from more then one location so having some mobility to relocate as well as dodge slower projectiles I personally value more.
Fixed what? But yeah, I remember when I used to stand by the Beast as the Heavy's best primary in MvM, but nowadays I just prefer the extra mobility offered by the stock Minigun.
ArmouredLemming the downsides are literally an increase on heavy’s downsides. If you can’t deal with its downsides you are a bad heavy player. You should be revved before an enemy approaches you since you are playing a defense class you shouldn’t be pushing except on a cart ( which brass beast excels at ) and heavy’s movement speed while revved ain’t fast enough to dodge any competent player anyway barring crouching randomly. Meanwhile it’s upsides are extremely potent.

The Brass Beast + Chocolate Bar + Fists of Steel combo is easily my favorite heavy loadout by far. It's far from meta, but if you play smart, it's downright brutal. That being said, it's not always great for pockets, lol I was top scoring in a pub on Upward ages ago, and had a random medic pocket me halfway through. We were mowing through people until there was some auto balance and we were playing against more than just newbies. The one thing I remember from that match is me tanking a headshot with the fists of steel to make it to cover, pulling out the brass beast and mowing down a sentry before turning around to give the medic a chocolate bar. And he just looked at me and said "What the fuck is this loadout." in voice, laughing his ass off right before we both died to a crocket. I spawned, ate my chocolate bar and ran out the spawn doors with the fists of steel out, and the medic just said, "never change, heavy. That was magical." before disappearing into the aether. Fun times.
When you recommended the Dalokas bar i checked the upload date to see if this was an april fools vid, but factoring in the damage resistance occurring quicker in conjunction with the bar's health boost it actually started to make some sense
If I played TF2 I'd use the Beast for one reason and one reason only: it sounds a lot like the OSIPR from Half-Life 2. The irony of a pre-1900s Gatling design with the report of a pulse weapon just kills me.
@@toxic_shr00m Why the surprise? Some games are more fun for me to watch than play myself, and this is one case. Multiplayer is not my cup of tea anyway.
literally just a ham sandwich Why watch CS:GO pro players and cheer them on, when you can be bad! It’s fun to watch someone play a game that’s not your cup of tea. League of Legends is not a game I really like, but watching people play it is entertaining
@@couldbeusabaker7532 Yeah but a guide would be odd to watch if you don't play the game. Like, I wouldn't watch a guide for best strategies for Rainbow 6 Siege, because I don't play the game, I WOULD watch gameplay of it though. It's different.
I think part of the reason people dismiss the brass beast is because they try using it with sandwiches. The weapon’s at its weakest when it’s the sole damage dealer, making heavy completely helpless for over a second. Shotguns take this away completely, giving heavy much more offensive freedom and mobility. I’ve top-scored on CTF servers before as a brass beast fat scout (not that that says much).
Man the brass beast is AWESOME! Run that thing with a shotgun and you'll become a mobile, high damage, and very deadly if they decide to chase you around corners. It's fun. And if you use the KGB, crits for your shotgun, making you even more deadly.
The Brass Beast can absolutely make you an impenatrable wall under the right cercumstances. I remember on Egypt (I think it was last point) I got a 25 kill streak by teaming with my engie.
I would just like to say something. The Brass Beast honestly looks like it could exist in Bendy & The Ink Machine ( In a good sort of way ). It’s both Black and Pale Yellow color ( The two signature colors of Bendy & The Ink Machine).
My loadout is Brass Beast, Dalokohs Bar, and Fists of Steel. I use these to be a tanky aggressor, even though it’s not exactly meant for it, I still do it, cause it works really well. Also, I don’t need a goddamn pocket medic if I have the Dalokohs Bar!
Brass beast: underused, underrated, hard to use, overpowered. A good sniper, spy or even demoman with stickies can easily counter the bb so yea It's painful but not bad
Brass Beast is Sentry mode for the Heavy, meaning holding down an area. this also means that the BB needs to get tweaked a bit, remove the rev up penalty since the Natasha has one penalty crippling and the Brass beast has two, so having them be different would be good.
To be fair, a good spy and sniper is already going to be giving a heavy a hard enough time regardless of what minigun you're using. They are natural counters of our big strong russian man. And if the demo is not shredded cheese by the time he has enough stickies on your feet to deal 300 damage, he's probably going to kill you regardless of the movement speed penalty.
When use the Brass Beast, I usually use it with a shotgun because it can come in super handy if I get caught off-guard and don't have time to rev up. I usually only use it when we have an engie as well, so I don't have to worry too much about health when there's almost always a dispenser nearby
I was curious about the effective health with and without the chocolate bar and heres what I came up with. BB No Med No Bar: 330 Effective Health BB+Med: 480 Effective Health BB+Bar: 385 Effective Health BB+Med+Bar: 485 Effective Health So the Chocolate Bar only others a 5 effective health improvement from not using it with a pocket med and BrassBeast, sense the bar removes 50 hp from your total overheal. But it offers a 55 effective health boost without a medic.
i love the brass beast in mvm that thing has saved my life more times than i can count and the upgrades on the weapon can be op at the right time and the right place
Yes, this is listed as an inaccuracy on the wiki, it does function, just not as intended, the damage resist also applies if you take any damage that would put you below 50% health, causing say, a full demo pill, to get reduced by 20 damage even if you were to only be put to 149 hp.
Brass Beast in x10 is like setting up a lvl 3 sentry. It takes a while and the World spins half around its axis before you've gone a few metres... But every bullet does the damage of an unscoped Sniper-rifle bullet, crits are a thing, spies cannot sap you and Medics can overheal you.
as a BB main myself, I get the most out of it playing defensively. Great for point control maps or modes where you don't have to be moving around a lot.
I’m gonna toss my hat into the ring and say that going with a lunch box item is a bad move, especially paired with the gloves of running urgently. You are going to want a shotgun or a panic attack for the “ what if” scenario like running out of ammo, too low health to use the gloves, or just to keep someone behind cover.
I've actually found that the Brass Beast can be useful for offense in the right situations. There was this one time on Upward where I was on BLU team with the Brass Beast, Dalokoh's bar and GRU and managed to help carry the team along with my medic. I essentially was a walking sentry gun, and I managed to outgun most of the enemies we came across. The extra health that the chocolate gives you is very useful. However, the walk speed with the revved up BB is so slow that I often found it hard to keep up with the payload. My solution? Stand infront of the payload and let it push me forward. This helps mitigate the slowness of the BB while also giving you _some_ protection against spies. We managed to push the cart all the way and ended up winning the match. There's my two cents. Have a good day!
I think the banana is a better option since it heals 200 health on top of the faster cooldown time. I know it takes ten seconds to recharge but it feels more like five seconds.

@@LightningGunne this video was uploaded once before but with some silly errors, it then went down and popped back up about an hour later.
I thought this was going to be a meme review but it actually tells you how to make the brass beast most effective. Good job Joey.
Finally someone who is supporting my favorite weapon
A Vladof gun with Jakobs aesthetics.
Ayyyy, my favorite heavy loadout is exactly what you recommend. Brass beast + dalokahs + fists of steel
Got the same loadout to
"Not a weapon to push and b hop around with" he says as hes pushing and hops
Tomislav revs up in .69 seconds ima rename mine to “nice”
This weapon goes from "Jump around corner to mow down the enemy" to "the enemy jumps around your corner and gets mowed down"

Fact: Brass Beast is a Gatling Gun invented in 1862. Heavy just has a Gatling Gun in his hands. It has to be on 2 wheels.
You can use the shotguns incase someone flanks you and you can't spin up in time
Tomislav: .69 rev up speed
Bog Joey: that's why it's the best
I started using the weapon just because they changed its firing sound and I love it
Mine is a strange Pina Polished brass beast. I named it "Getting Caught In The Rain."
when I did play TF2 actively, I MAINED the brass beast. its my favorite minigun, plus it just sounds POWERFUL with those .58 caliber rounds.
biggest thing I'm taking away from this video is I wish the medic would heal that sniper at 3:07 the poor bastard
Didn't even mention shotguns, outstanding
The Brass Beast + Chocolate Bar + Fists of Steel combo is easily my favorite heavy loadout by far.
It's far from meta, but if you play smart, it's downright brutal.
That being said, it's not always great for pockets, lol
I was top scoring in a pub on Upward ages ago, and had a random medic pocket me halfway through.
Still I’d say the family business would be better for faster damage but it’s still a decent Choice
panic attack also goes great with the brass beast, allowing you to rush and switch weapons quickly if you find yourself in a pickle.
If I played TF2 I'd use the Beast for one reason and one reason only: it sounds a lot like the OSIPR from Half-Life 2. The irony of a pre-1900s Gatling design with the report of a pulse weapon just kills me.
Wait... You don't play tf2 but you watch tf2bers?
@@toxic_shr00m
Why the surprise? Some games are more fun for me to watch than play myself, and this is one case. Multiplayer is not my cup of tea anyway.
Why are you watching this if you don't play it lol, it's free so you COULD play it at literally any time
literally just a ham sandwich
Why watch CS:GO pro players and cheer them on, when you can be bad!
2:05 Nice.
Thank you, big joey slap-nuts
I find it as the best counter to heavy Medic combos
Just jump down from a high place mid rev and shoot em dead
I would just like to say something.
The Brass Beast honestly looks like it could exist in Bendy & The Ink Machine ( In a good sort of way ). It’s both Black and Pale Yellow color ( The two signature colors of Bendy & The Ink Machine).
Uncle Dane the ultra gay
Damn, that was hella rude
But did uncle Dane repair another engineers sentry not wearing socks
@@probrobosnian Socks?
@@probrobosnian
People wear socks to do that?
0:32 why is this so funny to me
I can literally finish one piece before a heavy fully revvs a brass beast
My loadout is Brass Beast, Dalokohs Bar, and Fists of Steel.
I use these to be a tanky aggressor, even though it’s not exactly meant for it, I still do it, cause it works really well.
Also, I don’t need a goddamn pocket medic if I have the Dalokohs Bar!
Brass beast: underused, underrated, hard to use, overpowered.
A good sniper, spy or even demoman with stickies can easily counter the bb so yea
It's painful but not bad
lmfao its atrocious why would you ever use it over stock
Brass Beast is Sentry mode for the Heavy, meaning holding down an area. this also means that the BB needs to get tweaked a bit, remove the rev up penalty since the Natasha has one penalty crippling and the Brass beast has two, so having them be different would be good.
@@drivanradosivic1357 tru
To be fair, a good spy and sniper is already going to be giving a heavy a hard enough time regardless of what minigun you're using. They are natural counters of our big strong russian man. And if the demo is not shredded cheese by the time he has enough stickies on your feet to deal 300 damage, he's probably going to kill you regardless of the movement speed penalty.
@@uperpie It's actually 360 hp lol
Tho what you said is 100% true
When i got Brass Beast for the first time i thought its australium.
I feel like it would be viable if it had some health stat like +25% food charge time or +50 health.
When use the Brass Beast, I usually use it with a shotgun because it can come in super handy if I get caught off-guard and don't have time to rev up. I usually only use it when we have an engie as well, so I don't have to worry too much about health when there's almost always a dispenser nearby
I like the brass beast
I was curious about the effective health with and without the chocolate bar and heres what I came up with.
BB No Med No Bar: 330 Effective Health
BB+Med: 480 Effective Health
BB+Bar: 385 Effective Health
BB+Med+Bar: 485 Effective Health
So the Chocolate Bar only others a 5 effective health improvement from not using it with a pocket med and BrassBeast, sense the bar removes 50 hp from your total overheal. But it offers a 55 effective health boost without a medic.
1:55 scout dab 😂 😂
You forgot to mention how good the shotgun is with this
Finaly a vid thet isn't just a notification for a stream
Prior to jungle inferno I actually used the Brass Beast fairly often with the GRU to counteract the 60% slow movement.
The part where the engie kept taking away the dispenser is literally me as brass beast heavy in most MvM matches.
i love the brass beast in mvm that thing has saved my life more times than i can count and the upgrades on the weapon can be op at the right time and the right place
"-20% damage resistance"
Wouldn't that mean +20% damage vulnerability?
Yes, this is listed as an inaccuracy on the wiki, it does function, just not as intended, the damage resist also applies if you take any damage that would put you below 50% health, causing say, a full demo pill, to get reduced by 20 damage even if you were to only be put to 149 hp.
Brass Beast in x10 is like setting up a lvl 3 sentry. It takes a while and the World spins half around its axis before you've gone a few metres...
But every bullet does the damage of an unscoped Sniper-rifle bullet, crits are a thing, spies cannot sap you and Medics can overheal you.
Step one to using
the brass beast: Dont move
as a BB main myself, I get the most out of it playing defensively. Great for point control maps or modes where you don't have to be moving around a lot.
I actually like the Brass Beast and switch to it on defense more often then offence.
Frontier is a great map for the brass beast. As the enemy advances, you just move from one ambush spot to the next.
brass beast heavys with 2 hours: i am invincible!
spy mains: *snorts in easy kills*
2:48 "this weapon can be lethal", shouldnt this be with all weapons?
*laughs in fan-o-war*
Apart from the tomislav
@@cats3822 wait why?
@@zaipollizamabdulmalek5822 if you use the tomilslave you are bad B)
@@cats3822 how that make sense?
