This song was originally done by Gladys Night and the Pips. Has a faster tempo and some more call and response to it. Excellent version. Then Marvin Gaye's version so soulful and probably the most well known version. And then CCR. Your reaction was spot on. The band made it their own. This video you reacted to is a cut version of what was on the album. The full cut goes into this John Fogerty guitar jam that takes you to a whole new place and then comes back to the song. Do yourself a favor and listen to that version. All versions are great though.

Another great cover by CCR is Suzie Q a song from the 1950s, covered by numerous groups including the Rolling Stones, but in my opinion CCR does the best version! If if you do react to Suzie Q I recommend the 8 minute version found only on the album (great guitar solo), the 45 has a much shorter version with out the guitar solo.

A bonafide classic!! Nice too to see John's brother Tom when he was still in the band.

I've loved that song since I first heard it, and this was the first version I knew. Marvin Gaye's song is fantastic in either case. I really like the heavy bass line in CCR's rendition.

Both versions came out in 1970. Fogarty voice was pure Grit and soul. It was coupled with great harmony and instruments equals perfection! Great reaction!

I was just listening to this album “Cosmo Factory” the other day. I played this song several times, love the lead solos. I’m surprised that this live version was cut short.🤬

I can't even watch as the album version is longer than this entire video and worth every second.

Ccr is my fave band, I was born and raised in California and that's all we listen to over here in the sticks. They have so many to listen to!! "Looking out my backdoor", "Cotton Fields", "Fortunate Son", "Midnight Special", "Born on the Bayou", "Have you ever seen the rain".... OMG so many!!! Love em all. Dozens of hits!!

Gladys Knight and the Pips recorded this song too. As I recall, it came out the same time as Marvin Gaye’s version.

There was so much cool music in the 60's and 70's. I'm so sorry you missed that era. It was a blast!

You seriously need to listen to the extended version. This version cuts off half of the good parts. The extended jam in the middle is fantastic. Almost criminal to cut it off like that. Unfortunately I think this was the radio edited version.

I love Gladys Night and the Pipps when they sang this - and then Marvin Gay and then CCR - ITs a great song and little changes or flares in it here and there never harm it all because it can stand on its own.
