+Chris Crowder Getting this thing off is a BITCH. Whoever owned this thing before put it on way to tight, channel locks are not cutting it. need something with more leverage.
+SuperATVMedia I used kroil, had to end up buying the tools. But the new carrier is good, easier to adjsust the chain, axle spins more while in the air too.
I just bought a 400ex. It had no rear caliper. I bought one and when I went to put it on the bracket was too close to the swing arm. Thanks to ur video I figured out why the bracket was wrong. But now when I put the caliper on it is rubbing the rotor bad on one side! This is driving crazy. Is there anything I could have done wrong
Great video every step well shown this def going to be my go to guide when u change mine. Just fought with the swing arm stuck bolt an bearings destroyed by previous owner but I made special pulling device to pull old bolt out with all threat welder an jack handle for spacer u get the idea, an now I just need to do carrier bearing an she will be like new quad, also got the 450 style shocks with the canisters on side for dampness adjustment!!
Where exactly does the grease zerk end up? I couldn't see it after it was installed in the swingarm. Hopefully it is still accessible once installed as I'd like to be able to grease the bearings without tearing the rear end apart. My stock bearings are worn out in my 02, go figure, it is 11 years old haha and I am thinking hard about going this route. Looks like a easy, straightforward install.
If the bearing goes you have to replace the carrier, thats been my experience. This is a great video, worked perfectly for my 300 ex. Thanks so much. I will say this job is a B*tch, not easy for an average joe. My hubs were rusted on real good and didnt come off without blood, sweat and tears..Also when my old bearing carrier went the tube bent and wouldnt come off the axle. Unless you have a nice shop with air tools like these guys be prepared for bloody knuckles and grease smeared hands.
I had same problem on my old 300ex. Hubs were so rusty and pitted I had to replace them. Luckily the axle was alright. I painted down the new hubs with anti seize then installed them. No more issues!
If your axle nut is really stuck on make sure your reverse screwing the nut and use and monkey wrench and it still wont budge put a pipe on the wrench to get more leverage.
Mines the same way I just noticed today when I went to tighten my chain up. Oh well need to replace the bearings any way now I gotta replace the whole assembly
Any advice on what to do AFTER the replacement? is it a take it easy type deal to let the bearings get used to the machine or is it a go all out like you always do type deal? Cause ive been itching to ride for 3 months but im worried that ill mess something up if I ride too hard ~
I just purchased a used 04 honda 450r. I was checking everything over and found play in the rear axle bearings. Upon disassembly, I found it has a RAD magnum H15 TAPERED bearing carrier. My question is about fitment of the bearings to the axle itself. Do the bearings generally fit a LITTLE sloppy on the axle? I can visually see on the brake side of the axle where the bearing rides is slightly worn. The sprocket side LOOKS ok but still has play. The bearings themselves are pitted and not so good.
Be prepared, you may have to buy a new axle nut if you can't get it off and have to cut it off like I had to. 😞 also you will probably need to buy some new O rings for the swing arm. Buy them before hand that way you're not stuck waiting or stupidly put the old ones back in. They are only a couple bucks around the net.
Is the axle tight in the bearings or you saying the carrier is tight in the swing-arm? Some aftermarket carriers to not have grease zerks on them. Our carriers do.
got my carrier in yesterday i ordered from you guys. i am going to install today but was wondering my old carrier (stock) had two rubber seals do i need them on the new housing? thanks for shipping so fast.
Good Job man it been about 5 years since I've done this. It helped. Question since this is probably going to be my weak point. Building a limo golf cart with an R1 engine. 400 ex is going to be the suspension. With this being said this large chunk of aluminum may be my weak point. 125 HP engine involved. Can you machine one out of steel if I need it ? price ? I will mostly be doing wheelies. I'm to old to get something like this up to high speeds. Do you make longer axles for extended wheel base ?
+Jamie Wolfe Thank you. We do not currently build swing arms for sport quads. Your best bet would be to get in contact with someone like Lonestar Racing, they are a great group of people over there. Sounds like a fun project to say the least!
my brake rotor hub is stuck on? please help now it's broke and the rotor is junk but the hub to the rear rotor on the spline will not move tryed heat tryed pb blaster I can't get it off and I Don't wanna cut cuz it will mess up my axle spline
the new carrier from super Atv dose not use the Honda factory O rings. on the out side of the carrier no need for them . it is a sealed unit when you put the Axel through the Carrier. that a look as he's putting it in the swingarm No O Rings..
MrMrsregor Depends on how much work you wanna do really. Me and a buddy tried raplacing bearings and it was just as big of a hassle as it is the whole carrier. Found mine on Amazon for 85.00 and in local stores for double that. To me a carrier replacement is the way to go for a better look and factory is outdated.
Denvard Skelton thank you! i just finished mine about a month ago. when i got it apart the carrier was trashed with the bearings in little pieces. i used a lonestar carrier because of there reputation, information, and i am able to get new bearings to fit it later on if i need to do another rebuild
hello, i am from a different country, and want to call what is your phone code? and how do you know if the bearings are gone? my back tires can move up and down on my TRX 300ex 2007 model thank you!
URGENT. FRIEND IN THE VIDEO IT IS OBSERVED THAT YOU CHANGE MODEL OF THE CARRIER, YOU COULD ME SAY THE MODEL OF THE CARRIER THAT CHANGED, AND IN A VERY COMFUSE SITUATION, THANKS FOR THE ATTENTION
Heck yes. This is how you do a how to video. No BS straight to the point and covering everything.
+bionicvenom Thank you.
+SuperATVMedia well, I am about to buy the whole assembly from y'all
+Chris Crowder Getting this thing off is a BITCH. Whoever owned this thing before put it on way to tight, channel locks are not cutting it. need something with more leverage.
+Chris Crowder Did you try soaking it with penetrating oil? I recommend PB Blaster.
+SuperATVMedia I used kroil, had to end up buying the tools. But the new carrier is good, easier to adjsust the chain, axle spins more while in the air too.
I'm dealing with a stuck axle nut so I came here to see how the mechanics behind it work and you fastforward so fast I can't even see.
Choyce Boyz I’m dealing with the same problem. What did you end up doing?
This video litteraly just saved my life. Thank you so much
Awesome, glad to hear it helped with your install :).
That chain is SMOKED!!!
12 years and no one said anything about him having the biggest channel locks to ever exist
Just took mine apart today, used the video to tell my dad to take the threads off in front of the brake rotor!

Great video! I'm a lot less afraid to tackle axle replacement on my 450R. Thanks!

thanks for the video, i used it to help me replace the carrier in my 300ex
Thanks for speeding up video. Awesome
need to replace had same issue my bearing finally seazed up. get a new bearing carrier so much easier then trying to do new bearing in a old carrier.
I just ordered this carrier online. The video helped me out so much on getting the rear end apart. Is this carrier going to hold up?
Thanks alot for this video man, it helped me out a lot!!!!
my carrier bearing holder fractured at the sprocket no idea how but the axle was slopping around when i went to put it away and i noticed
Mines the same way I just noticed today when I went to tighten my chain up. Oh well need to replace the bearings any way now I gotta replace the whole assembly

Awesome video keep them coming quick question to for Allen head bolts that you loosen to adjust chain what size are they I have a 2002 Honda 400EX

Thanks for the help but like the other guy said unless you have nice air tools it's going to be hard takeing the stuff offf
Is the axle tight in the bearings or you saying the carrier is tight in the swing-arm?
Some aftermarket carriers to not have grease zerks on them. Our carriers do.
I just put a durablue rear axle and lonestar carrier in my bike. wish i found this vid before I took it to the mechanic :S
got my carrier in yesterday i ordered from you guys. i am going to install today but was wondering my old carrier (stock) had two rubber seals do i need them on the new housing? thanks for shipping so fast.
Awesome video I like the speed easy to see what you have to do
If i can ever get the axle nut off i would be in the clear. ive broken two pair of channel locks. on to the pipe wrench
very good video what else do you guys sell for the 400 ex ?
Nice work, i will change my bearing too,and i will use this video to help me. Thanks
You Rock!!! the best video created!
Thanks for watching our Honda 400EX carrier install!
how often do these bearings & carrier have to be replaced?
Fantastic, pls make more with TRX400
Its best if you replace the whole assembly.
Im gunna change my axle this week and i was wondering if i have to change the axle carrier as well? My bearigs are good.
I've checked your website and see no carrier bearings for 400ex. Do you still offer them?
Unfortunately we no longer offer this bearing carrier.
Thanks for this Awesome video bra !!!!!
Is there a factory spec for the axle diameter where the bearing rides?

removing rear swngbarm on 400 ex 2001
What kind of grease did you use? Also, what kinds would be best if I don't have access to that type?
what about the grease fitting? What do you do with it when you install the bearing?
What happens if the circlip doesn’t go in all the way and the carrier bearing is pushed as far as it can go in
is this the same for a 450r? if so the bolts that tighten and loosen the chain are striped any idea on how to get them out?
I cant get the clip in its groove after the locknut anything to make it easier?
mine seem to last about 5 years of heavy use.
would this install be relatively similar to a 450r
my brake caliper is like seized on to my axle and I can't get it off any advice
I replaced my carrier and when I tighten the Axel nut the Axel doesn't want to turn it turns the whole carrier
my brake rotor hub is stuck on? please help now it's broke and the rotor is junk but the hub to the rear rotor on the spline will not move tryed heat tryed pb blaster I can't get it off and I Don't wanna cut cuz it will mess up my axle spline
Where did you put all the gaskets on at I didn't see any
These do not have any gaskets. There are o-rings already in place in our bearing carrier assembly. So, that's why you couldn't see them in the video.
the new carrier from super Atv dose not use the Honda factory O rings. on the out side of the carrier no need for them . it is a sealed unit when you put the Axel through the Carrier. that a look as he's putting it in the swingarm No O Rings..
are these bearing carriers really $200 for an 05 trx450r
I cant seem to get the rotor off, am i maybe forgetting something?
\
will the carrier always need replaced for $100-$200? why not just the bearings for $15?
MrMrsregor Depends on how much work you wanna do really. Me and a buddy tried raplacing bearings and it was just as big of a hassle as it is the whole carrier. bearings are easy, removal and install is 15min tops
Use a torch to heat your carrier up around the bearings then flip it over and smack it lightly and they should fall out.
I'm having trouble with the brake caliper mount. The top bolt to mount the caliper is tight against the swing arm I don't know what I did wrong.
At the 2:18 mark did you get the caliper mount placed on the swing arm peg correctly?
+SuperATVMedia I figured it out I tightened my chain before I put it on.
+SuperATVMedia ok now I ran into a different problem. When I bolted my caliper on the pads are compressed and it's making it hard to turn the axle
Once you take a quick ride it will loosen up.
ill never be able to to this.,...
My axle lock nut wont tight it has to much space and comes of by the break disc
Not quite sure what you are saying. Feel free to email us some pictures to sales@superatv.com and we'll help you with your issue.
nice vid thanks for the help
hello, i am from a different country, and want to call what is your phone code? and how do you know if the bearings are gone? my back tires can move up and down on my TRX 300ex 2007 model thank you!
