My brother broke his and gave it to me. I cracked it more by a 7-10 foot drop on the screen on concrete but it wasn't that bad. The LCD works perfectly fine though.

I remember a few years ago when my mom's windows phone went through the laundry and came out with water under the screen but it still worked even to this day despite missing the volume button and back cover.
Yeah, there was something about Microsoft phones. Never lagged with even the shittiest processors. Even my mom's phone works just fine to this date.
I had a Blackberry Storm 2. This was back in the day when those leather belt pouch things were all the rage. I pulled it out of the belt pouch, went to look at it, dropped it face first from about waist height, screen down. When I went to pick it up, the whole screen fell out. Thankfully it still worked after that.

Rigi_Industries I recently broke mine by dropping it. The backlight went out, but it still works. But I also had it for two years and it took many falls before that one. I may however get it fixed because everything else was still working ( I kept getting notifications lol)

Anthony Nickerson like Zephyr said, there's not a backlight it's just that the AMOLED panel probably cracked underneath the glass. Same thing happened with my normal S6 after it fell face down from about 5 feet (for some reason I tried to catch a football with it in my hand). It was kind of a good thing because it had some random restarting problems which I think might have been caused by water damage a few months back.
Luckily my insurance kept sending me crappy refurbished phones which I kept returning until last month they ran out of Galaxy S6s and they sent me a non refurbished S8. I guess it all payed off after all.
Zephyr * didn't know that. I figured it had one because there is litteraly no damage to the screen or the rest of the phone. The screen just stopped working after I missed my pocket.
I don't have a tendency to break phones but one day I fell off my cycle and the phone in my pocket got hurt. Luckily the phone didn't get any ailments like shattered screen, loss in sensitivity of the screen, but battery backup has started to slowly fall down and the slow down process grew exponentially, which is astonishing.
I’ve gotten a new flagship every year since 2014 and never broken one once. I think the difference is when you have to work for months to save money you tend to be super careful. Or I do at least, I do know people who are broke though and have bought phones outright and broke them within a month so I guess it’s really about the individual.
You know what else can be broken? Your privacy...that's why TunnelBear, it is an easy to use VPN which lets you "tunnel" to a different country...

My story began on my daily bike commute back home from my graveyard shift at the social detox in my old town. My practice was to ride the 5 miles home, have a snack & go to sleep. I placed my workday at the end of my day. Although I was living in a small town, traffic still demands your attention. This is particularly true of bikeriders. I had to navigate a tricky & quite busy intersection. It included an on/off ramp to the interstate.
Light, a left turn green one, was going to change soon. I had the timing down, so hit it.
As all bikeriders know, a car driver can look you in the face, eye contact, will even nod at you, when they suddenly notice they are heading right at you. I try to watch for that in my own driving. I was in the left scramble lane approaching the intersection when from the right, from the off ramp, squirrels out a car, running their light. In their defense, it is a long light.
I had to swerve hard. The cardriver flipped me off, of course. I also try to watch out for that in my own driving. That was when I realized, the noise I heard was my phone sacrificing itself to save my life. It jumped out of my pocket and slid in front of the oncoming car that I was trying to beat through the intersection. The phone sacrificed itself trying to hold it back, saving my life. After the lights changed up, I walked back to through the intersection to pick up its valent remains. I’ll name my next child Nokia.
Should definitely redo this video now with the release of foldables! I’d be very curious to see how many TH-camrs have destroyed a foldable!

Lol the first phone I ever broke finally happened when I got the s8+ as soon as it came out. I ordered a case online and got way too comfortable with it while I waited. I had music playing while doing some roof repair for a customer on a two story roof. All of the sudden the music gets quiet. Still there, just faint. My heart sank as I peered over the side of the roof. There was my 3 day old s8 laying on the concrete patio. Needless to say, I learned how insurance claims worked after that.

Le Leedler true, i dropped my s8 twice on wood. And once from my bed onto stone floor. But the day i dropped it from 1 foot onto my chairs leg. It shattered.
I live in Australia and Samsung are currently trialling a service here where they do a one day turn around for phone repairs. For example, if you break the screen and then drop it off at a certified place, it gets picked up, repaired and dropped off for you to pick back up the day after. I know someone who works in that process and they have said that the most dropped off phone is the s8 series because of the glass. It's thin and there are way too many points of contact where it can break (even with a case).

My story tops it all. First day of unboxing the 7 edge right on release date. No case yet. First time i took it out of my pocket.

I have never fully broken a phone. I have put a few decently large cracks into my screen protector, and my case is pretty beaten up and completely cracked in one corner, but the phone was not affected at all.

Last time I “broke” a phone was my iPhone 6. It wasn’t visually damaged at all, but a lot of things internally broke. I used to throw it across rooms and everything, eventually the battery life was so bad, the Bluetooth antenna stopped receiving signals over 0.5 metres away from the phone, and wifi was on and off working, and mobile data was weak. I did have a lifeproof brand case on it, and as I said I would throw it across rooms and drop it all the time and it kept fighting for my 2-3 years of using it

i've probably owned over 20 phones, lost count, never broken actually broken any that i can remember. a couple have suffered minor damage, but nothing significant. there's always a first time, so take care of your devices!
Had an 18 month period where I didn't have a cell phone. Came back to it and everyone was talking about having a case. When I'd last seen them you only need a case of you accidently ran over your phone on a regular basis. Got a Nexus 5x and killed it inside of 2 years with little hits.

I had a LG V10 and once I was at a swimming pool, I was sitting on the spectators stand, and suddenly it slipped, hit a chair, did a triple head bump, did another triple flip, and then fell flat onto the floor. It survived and only had a crack on the screen. Though it died due to overvoltage while charging 6 months later.

I was at the skatepark with my mate and I had to put my phone down to do anything because, ironically, I didn’t want it to be damaged if it slipped. It was a new Iphone 5s and I placed it right on the corner of the ramp I was on, under the guard rail. I informed my friend that it was there, he obviously didn’t hear me as when he came up to ask what he said, he landed on my phone and properly cracked the screen, only broken phone. My current iPhone 7 has a few scuffs but no cracks on the front display.

I always brake my phone even with protection on it...
My most damaged phone had all 4 corners missing. It still worked. I don't know how. But if I recall it was the same phone that was even repaired once before because I dropped it on it's face (on gravel) and the screen shut off (didn't brake though).
Apple: iPhone 7 is now water resistant ip67. Austin: *dunks iPhone 7 in 6 inches of water and pulls it out* it's got water damage. 😂

I had an LG K4 that was so badly built the screen could be taken out with my fingernails, one day I dropped it on the street and the screen not only cracked but also popped off entirely and the ribbon cable broke. We got a screen replacement only for it to fall off a window some weeks after and break again.
I still have the phone somewhere in my box of old stuff and it powers on (I assume because of the vibration) but the screen isn't working.

I am actively using a Doogee X20L with a broken screen. It still works and I can still use it. Although I have broken a TABLET in the past.
I use a case and a screen protector, but still managed to BEND my Galaxy A50. I was watching some late night TH-cam, and noticed a bend. I thought it was my very crappy case, but i took it off, and the phone was bent near the volume rocker and power button! That is when I got a new case!
Story #2:
I have an iPhone 6 that I use as an mp3 player. I took it out of the case for some reason, and dropped it! No cracks, but a very nice dent on the bottom right corner, and a nice scratch on the aluminum back! I still use the phone as an mp3 player, but I still see the dent, because the case is clear!
