Transparent nerf guns were by far the coolest part of this trend. seeing everything work to shoot a foam dart 20 feet made my young mind explode. that being said, all the guns I had are now a gross yellow from UV exposure. super cool to have in the moment but long term I see why it fizzled out of the norm

I must admit that I tried casting a mold of my knife scales out of resin once.
What I found odd was that people HATE scales that show some of the knife if a light is shined through. I don't get it. I love transparent things.
It's honestly one of the reasons I subscribed a while back. Your love of transparent things.
I remember taking photos of my old phones in the mirror, with the back piece off, to try to get that exact transparent wallpaper!

Transparent plastics are harder to make and get more brittle quicker than opaque plastic, so it's likely a mix of cost saving both immediate and long term from warranty claims.

As a former CO who had to heavily monitor, and at times take these TV's apart, it's actually surprising how people can disguise stuff even in transparent technology. The RVA transparent alarm clocks are way easier, and they're often used as lighters in prison because there's technically no actual use for an alarm clock as you're getting woken up anyways.

    transparent things I've owned:
Both a gameboy and an N64 controller in that exactly shade (atomic purple)
A PC joystick that was transperant green (and terrible beyond that)
several flashlights made out of clear plastic.
A large green windup radio, you'd crank it for 30 seconds and it would run for half an hour or so.
several tape players, Sentry really did made a ton of that stuff..
the side of my PC cases have been clear for the last few years, too.

I made a semi transparent lamp many years ago with no blocked out or blacked off areas, you could see into it from all angles and I did not use a mirror. It was difficult to figure out how to power it, but using a trick of shadows any edge creates I was able to hide a battery. It was made to be used on stage and be thrown around and this was before small led strips existed.
Making transparent things or apparently transparent things can be used for many things, some useable others can be rather cool.

I think you can't turn the kind of recycled plastic used for most new cases into transparent plastic. And they're obviously using the cheapest plastics you can get while doing what they should. That may be a reason why transparent plastic cases did quit time ago, you may need virgin plastics. And bringing even more fresh new plastics to this world is not a good idea.

I was never a fan of the fully just clear stuff, but slap some color in there and I'm so on board.

I had a transparent Cassette player radio back in the early 90s and I would make silly recordings on it as well as listen to the radio and play tapes. That clear TV is pretty cool.

My First generation Xbox controller was transparent. What made it so interesting is the rumble packs inside them. You used to be able to see them create the vibration while playing!

Awesome video. I love transparent items as well. I have transparent fountain pens, mechanical pencils, watches and knives. I would love for this trend to be more popular

For an ad for transparent knives, this was quite entertaining. And sending what pretty much amounts to a refund and an apology for the buyer of a used knife was hilarious
