Where you live certainly matters too. In DFW T-hangars are unicorns and hangar space in general is hard to come by. The pricing reflects it. I was paying $750/mth and constantly being kicked out of hangars because they could make more on larger aircraft. I was reassigned at work last year and took a significant paycut. Had to sell my plane not because of the cost of the plane but because of the hangar. Now I live vicariously through these videos.
I honestly didn’t think about how lucky I was to be 20 minutes from an airport that had respectable hangar prices. They’ve raised them each year but it’s still be affordable. I appreciate all the support Michael
Very well said. I agree with the sentiment. Were there is a will there is a way, but for most experimental is the only affordable option. Certified GA has gotten ridiculously expensive over the last decade or so. You're blessed man, I'm glad you get it, and I'm glad you get to do it and take the time to share it with us. It's also great to have a supportive gal, my wife Heidi is an angel. Our channel wouldn't be without her.
@@alexandercoats Dude. It sure is. Folks have no idea what goes into a good YT video, and when you start doing reviews and new product announcements...wow. The work load triples.
Wouldn’t mind hearing more about your journey to being a Learjet pilot, I’m currently a 29 year old and think it’s time to chase that dream of mine. Currently on the fence on if I wanna be a weekend warrior or attempt the dream of a private jet pilot. Love the videos and series!
Even if you build your own plane, you're looking at 80k and not including getting your license, which can cost up to 15k. You can't own on a "middle class budget" anymore, which really doesn't even exist.
The S-1S I fly was $27k, 17 hours on the engine, ready to go, purchased in 2021. There is a big difference between what people post planes for and what they actually sell for. And I’m working on running a school that doesn’t milk students for every penny. Aviation should be unattainable
That's a single seat, experimental which r cheaper. But, a person like me who wants a 2 seater, maybe build my own, maybe not. A 100hp rotax 912is is 27k! New. Just as an example. The day for cheap flying is over. Been over, Electronics are astronomical! Fuel is insane, hanger fees are insane, if you want to fly, don't have a family, live in an rv park or in your hanger, or be a millionaire.
Me and my flying buddies in our early 20’s all bought beat up 120’s, luscombes, champs etc and flew the p!ss out of them all for less than a cheap used car. If you wanna fly, drive a sh!tbox car and an ugly airplane.
I just landed, it was -10c. My feet are still cold. Heat works but it is winter in the Midwest. Flew at 22”MP, top of the green, 160 and 10GPH. I got a little cold but still have a big smile. Nice Cub.
I live near Columbus, Ohio, home to the QS tail number but my Arrow lives at KLHQ, Fairfield County, Lancaster, Ohio. I am a California refugee small town in SoCal called LA.

@ModelAV8RChannel I could imagine. I’m just going to stick with the simple videos for now

It’s never to late! I’ll make a video on the journey
Stay tuned. I have a couple things in the works that might help that dream
...."or buy an Edge 540" - that was hilarious and a perfect way to end it!!😂
Hahaha sometimes I get lucky and I have a funny ending point. I had a whole outro filmed and I just scrapped it

I have a friend in Aviation that has a partner and he is always encouraging me to find a partner in aviation.
It’s a great way to keep the cost down. Just be cautious about who you go into a partnership with

Thanks for the support dude. Editing is definitely the most tedious part for sure.
what's the plane you're flying in the video? And how much is annual budget?
It’s a J-3 Cub. Hopefully I’ll find out soon. I’ll make a video on it. I’ve only had it for a short time and I’ve made a lot of changes.
@@alexandercoats it looks like a lawnmower with wings. I was looking into Cirrus SR20 but there's no way I can afford one.

Exactly! I look on barnstormers all the time and see crazy good deals on old ratty planes with decent engines
So…when is the 540 going to show up?
When the rain goes away and I can do cool stuff again

How narrow is that runway? That’s crazy😂
Haha it’s tiny. I’m not sure how wide it is
