This song takes me back to my high school days and playing football with my best buddies.. Life happens fast and it's so easy to lose touch with all of your friends you grew up with. This brings back some great memories for me! That's why I love music, it's like a time machine for your memories.
I haven't talked to a single person outside of my high school sweetheart (and her twin brother) since high school. Sad stuff. And I graduated 5 years ago.
I'm still trying to comprehend how exactly I've been listening to this song for 22 years. It's been on nearly every playlist I've ever made. Love you guys!
I remember seeing this on MTV2 at about 15 years old, went and picked up the CD, and I've been a metal fan ever since. I grew up with lots of classic rock, but this absolutely opened the doors for me to bands like As I Lay Dying, Trivium, All That Remains, etc.
The thing that makes metal so much better than mainstream music is the amount of heart and extent to which the band puts into their music. It's not for the money, it's not for the fame, it for bands to express their lives, themselves. Their pain, their love, their experiences, are all manifested by their skills and talents. Singers blow out their voices, suffer from depression, anxiety, and drummers move onto new frontiers, lead guitarists commit suicide. The amount of an indescribable emotion that surrounds metal music and their personal counterparts (band members) can only be referred to as such. For it is so emotional to a point of unfathomableness. That is why metal and rock will always be my favorite music.
I was 15 years old when I heard this and a sophomore in high school. Fell in love with their music and metal in general. 34 years old now. I still love kse and heavy music just as much. Already teaching my daughter to headbang 😂
Impossible to put into words how much this song changed my life for the better. Love everything this band has ever done with such a passion but this is where it all began and it’s still probably my favourite

"My Last Serenade" is one of the most iconic songs by Killswitch Engage, a metalcore band from Massachusetts. Released in 2002 on their album Alive or Just Breathing, the track helped define the band's signature blend of heavy, melodic, and emotionally charged metal. The song is known for its dynamic mix of harsh growled verses and clean, melodic choruses, reflecting the band's dual vocal approach, led by Jesse Leach at the time. "My Last Serenade" deals with themes of self-realization, empowerment, and breaking free from toxic patterns. Its memorable chorus and intense breakdowns helped it become a staple in Killswitch Engage's live shows and one of the key songs that brought them mainstream attention during the rise of metalcore in the early 2000s. It's a song that showcases both the aggression and beauty that the band is known for, and it remains a fan favorite to this day.
Damn and i think this was his Last Serenade when he left he Band due to personal reasons, Musical Geniuses...i really mean it. To me out of all the Bands i listen too i fucing love KSE, perfect balance between Screams,Guitars and Vocals...astounding. KSE Forever
That shit that is pop and techno isn't the same genre, look up Parkway Drive and, the Devil Wears Prada, they are two amazing modern metalcore bands that are just like this. Or Atilla, they are metalcore, but different style, and if anyone kicks ass its Atilla, they pretty much only sing about kicking ass.
I discovered KSE at 16. I'm 35 going in 36 now. I was a fan since they were signed to Ferret.22 records. This song wasn't on that particular album, but a few of the songs on this very Alive or just Breathing album were. All I'm trying to say is that Metalcore is Metalcore, but KSE are a genre unto their own... whether with Howard or Jesse.
Best metal core band ever... One of the most deep and real bands to exist... Still there best song and video and album... Raw... Can I find a girl that digs this shit and looks like the girl in this music video... That would complete my life.
My sister was killed by her boyfriend 2 years ago because she wanted to leave an abusive relationship. I remember in highschool she would listen to this almost every morning on the way to school. I feel like this song connects us to this day
So I saw them open for Slipknot on October 30th in Houston. It was amazing, I genuinely cried because I never thought I’d ever see them (I grew up in a very religious home that didn’t let me listen to this stuff often) I cried and they played this song and I’ll never forget that experience 🥰🥰🥰
still one of my all time favourite killswitch songs even got higher since my best mate died it will allways remember me of him our times going to festivals we put this song up in the car so it will never fade from my memory
Its Jesse over Howard for me people. Alive and still Breathing is a flawless album that fucks shit up and I cannot say that for the rest. I play that album and go HAM in the gym. Front to back no skipping.
Sorry dude, I just discovered these guys a year ago when "In due time" came out. I love the band, but after digging into their history and listening to all of their albums, I have to say, Howard is the better singer and meshed better. Jesse kicks ass and I like him in the band as well, but if I had to choose, it would be Howard...... Either way, KSE kicks it,
While cleaning on a Saturday afternoon, I heard this riff and it stopped me in my tracks. This was far better than other new metal bands. Hooked immediately. Still blasting the 2nd and 3rd KSE albums.
Music has a way of taking you backwards and forwards. The sounds can grab your heart and break it. Or it can put the pieces back together. This band understands that and I thank them for helping put my pieces back together. Much respect.
+Pinkamena Diane` «Don-Flutters Shy» Pie me too, recently got into som shit due to my temper and now its under control, feel so much stronger mentally now that I have full control over my self. before it was the anger that ruled my world, now I rule my fuckin world :D :D
I remember the day back 2009, I was going home in My school bus along with My CD player, and I found this song on a compilation CD I was going through that My Brother did for Me, and when I first heard this by looking out the window on the bus, I started thinking about the girl who I was in love with, and this song has been in My heart since then!!!!!
Dude, I remember the day when I saw this chick I knew in high school wearing a jock, and I will never forget the day the way I saw Her get off the school bus and the way She looked at Me when getting off the bus when I heard this classic playing in My headphones back in 2009... 😍😍😍😍😍 Dude... I fucking miss those days!
My only request in life is this is the song they play at the end of my funeral. The ending to this song with the peace and sorrow of my life being gone would just bring chills to the somber room
2021 and I am 66yrs old and this is the band I listen to the most, so much in fact I bought a guitar and amp and trying to learn the tunes. Just the best band I have ever heard.

"My Last Serenade"
This revelation is the death of ignorance
Tangled in a state of suffocation
Slave to self-righteousness
Damnation is on your lips
From sorrow to serenity, the truth is absolution,
From sorrow to serenity, it's on your head
This is my last serenade
I feel you as you fall away
This is my last serenade
From yourself, you can't run away
It's your choice, point the finger
But it's on your head
Your destination is a choice within yourself
Will you rise or become a slave
To self-righteousness
Open up your heart and gaze within
This is my last serenade
I feel you as you fall away
This is my last serenade
From yourself, you can't run away

It's your choice, point the finger
But it's on your head
Your destination is a choice
Within yourself
Will you rise or become a slave
To self righteousness
Open up your heart
And gaze within
From sorrow to serenity
The truth is absolution
From sorrow to serenity
It's on your head
This is my last serenade
I feel you as you fall away
This is my last serenade
From yourself, you cannot run away.
Hello
One of the best metalcore song!!!!
Their best vocalist, album, and song imo. Listened to a LOT of these guys over the years. None of their tracks get it done like this one.
Back in 2009 I used this as my dance song when I got married. R. I. P. my wife.
I’m so sorry to hear that and hope you’re doing okay. I’m sure she was proud to be with a cool husband like yourself ❤
I know how you feel I lost mine in 2014.. Ovarian cancer

My condolences
Both singers are tremendously talented. For anyone who can scream and sing got some crunch to their voices man.
Let's not forget Adam D. also. Dude can growl but have nice clean vocals too. Great backing vocalist imo.....
I want this played at my funeral
me too
Same here buds
Shut it poes face
Yh
Hell yeahh!!
22 years ago man. Crazy. My and my brother used to play this as kids and we thought we were the coolest guys ever. Looking back we totally were haha. RIP BROTHER.
I want to learn Spanish, and other languages. But first Spanish and Sign-Language.
But for now I use Google Translate lol. 😁🤷🏻♀️
This was THE song that turned me onto metal almost 20 years ago, blew my mind, never heard anything like it before, never looked back
Has to be one of my favorite KSE songs, it's a great one.
One of the most influential and positive bands out there
"My Last Serenade" is one of the most iconic songs by Killswitch Engage, a metalcore band from Massachusetts.
KSE Forever
if it wernt for howard there would be no more kse. glad jesse stepped back in tho
***** Howard had to leave because of his diabetes.
***** He is back now. With Devil You Know. Their new song was great.
Jessie had vocal issues
Yes Howard was a good fit. For the band kept it alive
Back when metalcore actually kicked ass and wasn't ruined by mainstream pop and techno dancing music
ThatCub3K1d fuck subgenres, fucking maggots like you that ruin music for people
"Back when" 2009 was only 6 years ago, there are still a lot of good metalcore bands! KsE is one of the best
Prophets of this Generation
If this song is from 2009 then I have officially traveled time.
***** im new to KsE haha, sorry, still 2002 wasnt long ago
Saw these guys at knotfest, they put on an absolutely phenomenal show, and I was so happy when they played this
I miss this time in the world...
God.. We need you so much
Seen this band 5 times live. 2 times with Howard once with the singer from all that remains and 2 times when Jesse came back. All fuking epic.
🖤\m/ That is epic
I discovered KSE at 16. I'm 35 going in 36 now. I was a fan since they were signed to Ferret.22 records. This song wasn't on that particular album, but a few of the songs on this very Alive or just Breathing album were. All I'm trying to say is that Metalcore is Metalcore, but KSE are a genre unto their own... whether with Howard or Jesse.
My curse, The end of heartache and this song are my favorite songs by far.
from yourself you can‘t run away…. i love this SO MUCH…
2019 and it still goes hard. ❤️🔥
2019 and it still gets me hard 🖒
Bro dis shit is stil🔥🔥🔥
@@rioeiokha9653 as she should, shes a sexy lady 🖒
Why would the degree to which it goes hard decrease?
@@neebnoob18 I was gonna say the same thing. It will always go hard.
Im 34. and I love how this bands sound has stayed true to its roots, even as it has evolved!!! 😋
Best metal core band ever... One of the most deep and real bands to exist... Still there best song and video and album... Raw... Can I find a girl that digs this shit and looks like the girl in this music video... That would complete my life.
It's incredible to see how the band changed members, but always maintained quality and a deep message in the lyrics.
opino lo mismo ...xD
I'm 83 years old and this is the best music I've ever heard. God bless you KSE
You don't look 83. Keep up the good work
Gotta be one of the best metal songs ever made. Unreal even all these years later
"From Yourself You Can't Run Away"
hits so deep.
My sister was killed by her boyfriend 2 years ago because she wanted to leave an abusive relationship. I remember in highschool she would listen to this almost every morning on the way to school. I feel like this song connects us to this day
Sorry to hear that. But byes this type of music is something else
It’s been 20 years! Such a monumental album, not only for the band, but also for metal during this time period.
To my buddy Roman, me and him had different metal tastes, but this song brought us together, RIP brother I love you.
still one of my all time favourite killswitch songs even got higher since my best mate died it will allways remember me of him our times going to festivals we put this song up in the car so it will never fade from my memory
Either way, KSE kicks it,
Alive or Just Breathing is their best album. Jesse
Agreed. I love all the albums, both Jesse and Howard are amazing singers, but this is the best album
uncleallo
on the real homie! killswitch at the gym=extra reps
Love coming across a classic again what a tune, makes your hairs stand up , can’t beat old school miss the days .
Always will be one of my favorite songs from Killswitch engage I can seriously feel Jesse's emotions
that black and red flash in sync with the guitar is amazing
This is really helping my anger... I love it.
+Pinkamena Diane` «Don-Flutters Shy» Pie me too, recently got into som shit due to my temper and now its under control, feel so much stronger mentally now that I have full control over my self. before it was the anger that ruled my world, now I rule my fuckin world :D :D
enednas801 Ooh, cool!

I'm glad you have full control over yourself now. X3

T7x Huh?
I remember the day back 2009, I was going home in My school bus along with My CD player, and I found this song on a compilation CD I was going through that My Brother did for Me, and when I first heard this by looking out the window on the bus, I started thinking about the girl who I was in love with, and this song has been in My heart since then!!!!!
🙏🏽
❤️
Dude, I remember the day when I saw this chick I knew in high school wearing a jock, and I will never forget the day the way I saw Her get off the school bus and the way She looked at Me when getting off the bus when I heard this classic playing in My headphones back in 2009...
😍😍😍😍😍
Dude... I fucking miss those days!
Your first serenade??
@@BleedThe5th
My first serenade was My Last Serenade by Killswitch Engage! 😅
I love how KSE combine Punk and Metal together!!!
Love Jesse, geniune! Huge killswitch fan. Times of grace is amazing! Love howard too, i just feelJesse
Much Love
My only request in life is this is the song they play at the end of my funeral. The ending to this song with the peace and sorrow of my life being gone would just bring chills to the somber room
I was never a big KillSwitch fan but I think this is a great song
