Roger drumming without looking at the drums because he had to turn his head to the left to sing. 4 musical geniuses!
There was no auto tune when Queen was recording, everybody prior to the 90s did it on pure talent.
No autotune those days. Dude I'm SO STOKED that younger generations are finding REAL music. We were blessed to live through this era!
AutoTune wasn't a thing when QUEEN recorded these videos. This was pure raw talent. And Roger Taylor's drumming and vocals are epic.

Live Aid was great but personally I prefer them Live @ Wembley. My go to concert dvd. But all Queen is good 🤘🇬🇧🤘
I love Live Aid, but I def think this single performance is their best.

Auto tune didn’t exist back then. Never auto tuned. Pure talent.
Queen was 100% talent and 100% showmanship, and this performance shows why math can't measure art.
Many of Queen's songs were so intricately layered and vocally complicated that it's hard to imagine them being performed live, or ever sounding anything like the studio version. The live versions of this, and Bohemian Rhapsody, obviously don't sound identical to the studio,. It is like they are variations on a beloves theme, and it is fascinating and awe-inspiring to watch them recreate these songs in front of you.
Don't forget that 99.99% of everyone in that audience knew Somebody to Love back to front and were singing along with it in their seats. The pressure the showy, operatic Queen must have felt to live up to their recordings must have been immense, yet they were known for their amazing live performances.
Freddie was indeed the greatest, but don't forget the massive contribution of other members of the band. Brian May especially is a more than interesting character. After Freddie's death, Queen did not perform for several years and Brian May used the time to complete an astrophysics PhD which he first began back in the 1970's going on to contribute to NASA research programmes. He is also a firm animal rights campaigner

Despite what some people say, "autotune" wasn't even invented during Queen's time. All this and they're bloody amazing live too! I must have heard this one a million times but it never grows old.
Autotune did not exist in the 1980's but Freddie and the boys did not need it anyway! Truely talented group that needed no technical magic to pull off fantastic vocals! Legends in their own time.
And they still don't - That is live music - with flaws and faults - but that makes it alive - now a days you hear machines - perhaps singers who can't even sing!

I agree. Autotune was invented 6 years after Fred died.
They were/are not only great musicians but quite intelligent too! They all have degrees/diplomas etc. Brian May (lead G) got a PhD in Astrophysics, Roger Taylor (Drums) studied dentistry but dropped out and got a BSc in Biology, John Deacon (Bass G) did Electronics and Freddie did Graphic Art & Design. So quite a talented bunch!
Dr Brian may helped nasa with a probe to Pluto and if I.remember correctly it’s name was new horizons
And also Freddie designed the Queen logo.. Just to show you how good he was

Freddie said that he wanted his live audience to get a version they had not heard before.
He also said "If the fans want to hear the studio version, listen to the album" The live experience is / was so much more. Best ever.

That voice is called real talent. They didn't even have auto tune back then .
The musicianship of these four guys is off the charts!!! The energy in that room must have been absolutely wild. I feel it just watching this..incredible stuff!
I saw them just 1 year later! Certainly one of the best performances I ever saw and I saw a lot during the eighties!

A female journalist asked Freddie what instrument he played? Freddie looked shocked! "The audience darling, the audience." & Play them he did, w/superb skill. He wasn't a lead singer. He was a Showman & a damn good one. His talented bandmates who could easily front their own bands knew that & let him take center stage.
It's hard to believe that is over 40 years ago!! Queen are STILL the best.
You should check out George Michael singing this song live. It was at a tribute concert to Freddie in 1992, following his death in 1991. George does a fantastic performance of the song

@Blakey_78UTD, I've already suggested to Joel that he watch that performance of George Michael and the remaining members of Queen at that particular concert so I obviously agree with you....the thing about it is that they also had a gospel choir singing backup along with them, didn't they? The response of the audience was also incredible and it was another fitting tribute to Freddie's legacy, wasn't it?
Roger (drums) is also brilliant on this one.
He really shines, especially at the end of this one. His voice kinda has that young Rod Stewart edge to it.
Roger is killing it on this performance. Stunning backing vocals and great drumming.

Everything about Queen was wtf, they pushed boundaries, the changed music, and Freddie was a one off talent, the voice the persona, the charisma, his voice was pure
I was lucky enough to see Queen live twice at Wembley, in 85 at Live Aid and again in 86 for the live magic tour. Both times I was blown away.
So glad Queen was able to be recorded live for all those who miss out on them.
Freddy never drank alcohol on stage. He was sipping tea with honey and lemon. The Heineken was put there as a publicity stunt. I was at that concert and it was totally out of this world!
He didn't drink beer for the same reason he didn't drink carbonated water. It caused him to burp & he wouldn't chance that while singing.
Your face when you said, "That's his voice without auto-tune!?" Was priceless! 🤣 Most people prior to 1997 didn't use auto-tune because it didn't exist.
You get the same reaction from youth when they listen to Heart for the first time. They can't believe Ann's voice.
Kudos to the rest of the band as well. The drummer Roger Taylor is also a tenor and his backing vocals nicely complemented Freddie's lead vocals.
Freddie was an actual baritone, his range was just so huge.

I know you've enjoyed the proms and some classical music in the past. Well Freddie made an album with Montserrat Caballè. I'd love you to react to Barcelona. It's fantastic and their voices compliment each other to perfection. They used it at the 1992 opening of the Olympics in Barcelona. Freddie had already passed away but a recording was played.

Yep, this truly is one of the greatest on stage performances in the world.
It's amazing watching Freddie working an audience that's why the live aid is a must, he had them in the palm of his hand.

Jps Queen was a great band live. But it's not all about Freddie Mercury, you can't forget Brian May who's rated one of the best ever guitarists in the world.
Yes he is, he is also has a PHD in Astrophysics.

What felt like an encore was just the 4th song in a 27 track setlist. Imagine the energy for the rest of the show.

Enjoyed your reaction. It is typical for the Queen live versions of songs to be very different from the studio album. Freddie said in an interview that if fans wanted to hear exactly the same performance as the album they should stay home and listen to it and that it would be boring to perform it the same way. Another great live version (different than the one you just heard) of this song is the one Live at the Bowl: Milton Keynes 1982. For more live performances suggest you react to White Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975 and Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow 1974.
I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching this Z gen feeling our old music and keeping it alive. I wish I could hear all these songs from virgin ears again.

To me 90 percent of the time queen is better live. I love when people react to the live versions partly because Freddie is amazing but you get to see how amazingly talented they all are. John Deacon has come up with some amazing beats and Roger and Brian have voices good enough to be lead singers
Freddie Mercury would never ever ever be In need of auto tune. Queen are the best band in the world - past present & future. Freddie has/will always be my hero. I was 8 years old when he passed away but I still remember every detail, every emotion I was feeling that day. For me I was losing a member of my family & I'm still not over to it this day. There will never be another one like him. Next song you should react to next is called "Liar" from their very first album 'Queen' released in 1973. I would also check out "The Prophet's Song" from the 'A Night at the Opera'.

Freddie also did solo work he did an album with an Opera singer Monserrat Caballe .The drinks on the piano are water, honey & lemon & also beer x
Sorry, you slipped up there. If you record an album with another artist it isn't a solo album surely.
And it's easy to get lost in the absolute genius that is Freddie Mercury but remember every member of queen has written amazing hits
Another performance to watch linked to queen is the bohemian rhapsody green day concert. Its not going to be what you think of it to be but the only thing I will say is the loyalty and dedication of the Queen fans especially since it was 26 years after Freddie had died that the concert took place. That dedication and loyalty was amazing to see at that concert. Another queen linked performance you could react to is Queens performance at the 2012 Olympics which was in the UK. Again it shows the loyalty and dedication of the Queen fans and both performances are amazing to see just as a fan level even without Freddie there at either of its performances. Both performance are simply fan driven no need for other performers to take Freddie's role in the singing aspect

@@trevorjackson4157 I know as a fan especially one that was born after Freddie died these concerrs mean so much to watch or if your lucky enough to go watch in person because it just shows that the love for the band will never die. There is not a band or artist that can compete with Queen, they are just on another level to every other band/artist that has existed and will ever exist

Both Roger & Brian are lead singers in their solo bands. Listen to Brian sing, Too Much Love Will Kill You. Freddie's vocals are great on this song, but Brian wrote it from personal experience & that emotion comes through.

Freddie was known to be the best showman of all time. He said people don't want to go to their concerts to hear just the same as the record. I saw them in concert and they involve the audience. I have been a fan from the beginning and will be until my dying day. Good to hear you enjoying the performance. The song 'The show must go on' is very relevant to Freddies's situation towards the end of his musical career. As a band they were well rehearsed and spot on for their timing and each other on stage. As an old fan of Queen, it's great to know there will be a new generation of Queen fans. Thank you for reacting to my favourites band of all time.

Watching Freddie live makes you realize how powerful bit voice was! At some point you need to watch their performance at Live Aid. It is considered one of the greatest rock performances ever!

George Michael sings, and puts his heart and soul into the performance. It’s not Freddy but is an example of the high regard in which Freddy was held across musical genres.

What I love about your reactions Joel ( and my family wonder why I watch people reacting to stuff) is the joy I feel when you feel it too. Its like when you say to someone...watch this film and you spend the whole time looking at them knowing that something special is coming up and the amazing emotion when they see it/feel it/get it...waiting for the joy. That's why reaction videos are so special. I've been a fan of queen since I was 10. It's so emotional to watch you love them and enjoy them
