Usually they have an additional keyboard player in the background (you can see him at Live Aid). At this time Fred Mandel later on Spike Edneyuntil now.
Great reaction! Did you notice Roger singing his heart out while not missing a beat on the drums? I often wonder when he managed to take a second to breathe... 'Save Me' from the same concert is brilliant! By the way, Freddie is not drinking beer. The beer bottle is a product placement. His cup is tea with lemon and honey, for his throat.
My request is MORE QUEEN LIVE CONCERT reactions (instead of recordings from their albums)... I am so thrilled some men of your ages are reacting, there are very few, mostly older. I think you should "go down the rabbithole " & do alotmore Queen. I am so interested in your age bracket to hear what you think about music done without synthesizers & other gimmicks, Queen is raw talent unlike much of today's music. Please do Queen's Live AID performance, it is judged around the world as the best performance ever.
Freddie Mercury was a phenomenal musician. His vocal range was ridiculously good and his classical piano training allowed him to write the most insane harmonies to his tunes. I played sax in the theatre band in London for The queen musical before moving on to a different theatre where Mamma Mia was running. Incredible experience and wonderful music for both.
If you like this, you and your friends would love Queen's performance at the Live Aid concert in 1983. It was a charity concert for famine aid in Africa, all the world's most famous rock and pop stars performed free and it was watched by millions on TV all over the world as well as the crowd at Wembley stadium. Queen absolutely killed it - Freddie's friend David Bowie was next after Queen and he said to Freddie "You b******, how do you expect me to go on after that?" You want the version with the policemen because the other version cuts off at the end - it is a bit over 20 minutes. Freddie had throat problems at the time and had been advised by his doctor not to perform. It includes a song that Freddie wrote as a tribute to Elvis Presley and he sounds just like him.
Freddie Mercury. The greatest front man in Rock and Roll history. Noone came close to him. His performance at Live Aid 1985, despite a sore throat, was the greatest. Ever. He could sing anything. Rock. Opera. Soundtrack. He wrote the greatest song in Rock and Roll history. Freddie Mercury. Legend. Forever.
just one thing-Bohemian rhapsody and Queen knowing and popular all over the world more than 40 years, and think,40 years later will be known...anyone bet same bout Green day?
Freddie had a honey mixture drink for his throat when performing, sometimes Freddie would go against the doctors orders not to sing when he had touch of laryngitis, and when ever his voice sounded a little hoarse when hitting the high notes that's when his throat wasn't 100% but he would never back out of a live performance and dissappoint his fans.Freddie and Queen were the greatest performers ever.❤
actually Freddie never drank anything carbonated before or during a concert because he thought it was rude and disrespecting to his audience to possibly burp when singing. So no beer, soda pops or anything like that. mostly tea with lemon and honey to sooth his throat.
Controversial but in my opinion the best group ever and their music is still current today, and never gets old. Those 2 friends of yours need to see more of Queen to appreciate just how fantastic they were R.I.P. Freddie.....'Do whatever you want with my music, just dont mske it boring' xx
tha Mt Rushmore is definitely Beatles Zeppelin Queen & Stones no particular order Queen does take tha cake factually stayed together til tha end (1991) multiple hits all 4 wrote were better live than studio recordings influenced arguably tha best album ever (Thriller) really untouchable
At the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert held at Wembley Stadium, the song was performed by George Michael. George Michael's performance of "Somebody to Love" has been hailed as "one of the best performances of the tribute concert". It is worth listening to this version. George Michael did an exceptional job.
Love it when the younger generation watches Queen for the first time. As great as their studio versions were of their songs, many where better live, this being one of them. Remember no autotune, just live perfection by all four members. You said how great Freddie was. Just a comment I love to make to new timers to Freddie. Look up greatest singers of all time Pop/Rock/ and other genres and you will find him always in the top 3, many times at number one. He could do things with his voice that no one then or now can do. Many more great performances, check them out guys.
Quote from Freddie in the early 70s, "I won't be a rock star. I'll be a legend" And he was so right! I raised my kids on the likes of Queen. This clip is from the concert in Montreal. I celebrated my 24th birthday in the 8 row-centre at this one. One of the best concerts I ever attended. Queen and Pink Floyd are tied when it comes to live performances for me.
I remember your first time listening to Queen and I can see that little smirk on your face saying “ I told you so” melts my heart that someone your age found Queen.
I got to see them live 3 times when I was a young one. The first time, Freddie was a few feet from me and he actually sweat on me. My son now tells everyone that how cool it was for his mom to be that close to greatness. AND it was. I also got to meet John Deacon, what an amazing guy!!!
Just like what you said; there’s something about Freddie’s voice! He genuinely loves his fans, he puts his heart and soul into his music and his performances to hope to bring a smile to their faces, to make them feel happy even if it’s just for a few minutes. There’s so much more to say about this unique wonderful man… Freddie is so deeply missed 💙
I was fortunate to see Queen during this tour at the Baltimore Civic Center in August, 1980. I was 17 years old at the time and I still vividly remember that show to this day. Freddie owned the crowd from the moment he stepped on the stage.
Love Queen, Love Freddie....there is absolutely no one that can come near him -- true legend. The four of them together made incredible music. If you guys liked this live performance, may I suggest Under Pressure Live at Wembley (the 5:56 minute version. The interaction with the crowd is amazing). Another One Bites the Dust live at Wembley and White Queen live at Hammersmith. There are so many more that I can list and I'm sure others will comment on other great performances. LiveAid is a great one also. Thanks for your reaction(s). Love them.
I’m 51, so growing up at that time, you’re sort of attuned, when you’re with your parents, of course at any given point, it gets to be more mainstream and advertising picks up on that. Funny to hear your Mom playing it the car with you 😄👍
This is an outstanding performance by the entire band, mind blowing to know that it is actually live. I never get tired of seeing this show, thanks, Guys!
Thanks, boys! Yep.. this a whole BAND.,. as amazing as Freddie is.. Brian May on guitar, John Deacon on bass.. and Roger Taylor on drums (and both Brian.. and especially Roger on vocals...not backup singers... and no "autotune")... appreciate your reaction!
It's really funny and heart-warming to see you guys rocking in synch ~ much like that head-banging scene in "Wayne's World" (1992), which just so happens to be to Queen too (Bohemian Rhapsody)
Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson are the 2 greatest showmen of the 20th century. The way Freddie had the whole crowd at live aid in the palm of his hand their whole performance was something special.
Penny Lane will always be associated with The Beatles but Freddie Actually Lived on Penny Lane for a while. He was in a Liverpool band called The Ibex and The roadie's Mum and dad had a place called Dovedale Towers, it's still there today. They gave Freddie one of The spare Rooms upstairs to stay in. That was in 1969. Queen were formed in 1970 and The rest as they say, is History.
Love of my Life, Queen, Montreal 1981 and Love of my Life, Rock in Rio 1985 where the Spanish-speaking crowd know all the words. Freddie wrote this song for Mary Austin who, despite them breaking up, remained his close friend all his life. Also there are lots of other breathtaking live Queen performances
They were real musicians, sang and played instruments, perfect everyone loved the group. If you want to hear another great band try listening to the animals another understated group, brilliant lead vocals.
Betting many Grandmothers too love our dear Freddie! Love Queen too. They were absolutely fantastically great musicians. Roger's resounding back-up vocals while murdering the drums; Deaky slapping his bass and Brian's guitar....all that together with Freddie's piano, unmatched vocals and entertaining moves . . . well, just grab us and won't let go. (You guys are cuties too...) Thanks for THIS! (All from only 4 determined musicians and a great traveling crew.)
Freddie is the GOAT without a doubt! You may want to check out a fantastic artist from Scotland 🏴 called “Paolo Nutini”….any of these songs will knock you socks off! ‘Iron Sky’ ‘No Other Way’ ‘Scream (funk my life up)’ Keep up the good work with your awesome and respectful reactions young man, you are a pleasure to watch. I have read that someone commented the following At 3.35 Brian May wanders off the stage cause of issues with his guitar At 3.40 Freddie notices goes into extended improvised performance At 3.53 you can hear Brian is tentatively strumming to check guitar At 4.10 Brian is back and Freddie carries on song That is what you call true performers. No stopping no tantrums just keep going Perfection as always from them
I'm so glad you're watching these videos-this is just pure talent, epic singing (with Roger Taylor also playing the eff out of the drums-a very difficult thing to do), lyrics, musicianship and what can you say about Freddie. The man is a legend, his stage presence matched by no one, the best front man in rock.
I agree one of my favourites. Freddy was completely unique, just as an aside Brian May, the guitarist is also a very interesting man. Apart from being a brilliant, iconic guitarist, he has a PhD degree in astrophysics from Imperial college London, he also loves hedgehogs.
I was banging my head and singing along I don’t think I know anybody in my life who doesn’t know at least 3 songs of QUEEN we will rock you, we are the champions, radio ga ga, bohemian Rhapsody, fat bottom girls and my favorite don’t stop me now ❤
What's even better than watching them in a video is watching them LIVE. I got to do that 3 times with Freddie and once with Paul Rodgers. Honestly, if you closed your eyes, you swear you were listening to their record. Freddie Mercury, is and will always be, one of the best!! Should do a reaction to 'White Queen' live, this was before they hit the world stage and shows the incredible talent of all four members of the band!
Saw this concert in Toronto a night before or after this concert. A great memory as a kid. How about ELO - The Diary of Horace Wimp. Check it out Guys!
Yeah, saddens me when reactors don't give any recognition to Roger Taylors vocals, particularly on this song. Yes, of course Freddie is GOAT, but don't leave out the others, Please
Queen with Freddie were one of the very few bands that were really global and appealed to all ages ... I've been playing drums for over 45 years and many places I played I was told that if my band didn't play any Queen we wouldn't go down too well lol ... luckily we had a few Queen songs in our sets!
that switch from the piano to Freddies 'half mic stand' is pure perfection ... Queen were at this time THE greatest rock band on the planet and to be honest only a few have come close to them since ... we are talking here the best of the best
Do, please watch their live performance at "Live Aid" 1985.......the greatest live performance I've ever seen. Considering Freddie had just blown his voice on a world tour!🎉
No dear it’s a sip of tea with lemon and honey to keep his voice and throat supple. Freddie did not drink any alcoholic or carbonated beverages before or during his performance he was afraid of burping into the microphone, he felt that would be disrespectful to the audience, the other drinks on the piano top are water, soda and beer for Deaky and Brian.
Oh, this is magical. Thank you guys!! Yes, please react to their 'Live Aid' set! Considered by many the best live performance ever! You know, I don't understand why stuff like this does not inspire kids to pick up an instrument and want to play the sh*t out of it??! Yes, I'm old. I'm from the 'garage band' era. My families garage was THE band hang out for the neighborhood! Sound insulation, blacklights, padded amps...the whole lot! I miss those days when everyone hung out together and music and comedy was everything! to us!
You'll get some dumb comments saying Freddie never drinks beer onstage, even though he does. He's on camera drinking beer in Montreal '81 more than once. Unfortunately some Queen fans on YT are in denial or have poor eyesight. There are always 2 large clear plastic cups filled with beer directly in front of Freddie on the piano in their live videos, including at Live Aid in 1985. The small ones are Dixie cups filled with water. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ With show time approaching, towels and drinks for the band’s refreshment on stage would now be strategically placed: water and beer for Fred, beer for Brian and Roger and the Backstage Bar for John, comprising water, beer, soft drinks, wine and whatever spirit or cocktail he fancied at the time: Southern Comfort, vodka or tequila. - Peter Hince (aka Ratty), Fred’s and John’s roadie and head of Queen’s crew.
Just 4 guys on the stage ,no backing singers no backing tapes just pure talent... I love this song.
I cried as a 13 year old when Freddie passed away 😢
What, like any professional band?
@@PHS.44 no.
Usually they have an additional keyboard player in the background (you can see him at Live Aid). At this time Fred Mandel later on Spike Edneyuntil now.

Over 40 years from this recording this still remains the greatest live recording of a song there has ever been and will ever be.
I've really lost count of how many times I've watched this incredible performance, and I've enjoyed every single minute. 💙🌈👑
Their live aid show was queens best live performance in my opinion.

I miss those days when everyone hung out together and music and comedy was everything! to us!
Youth of America appreciate queen in true form x
You'll get some dumb comments saying Freddie never drinks beer onstage, even though he does. He's on camera drinking beer in Montreal '81 more than once. Unfortunately some Queen fans on YT are in denial or have poor eyesight. There are always 2 large clear plastic cups filled with beer directly in front of Freddie on the piano in their live videos, including at Live Aid in 1985. The small ones are Dixie cups filled with water.

With show time approaching, towels and drinks for the band’s refreshment on stage would now be strategically placed: water and beer for Fred, beer for Brian and Roger and the Backstage Bar for John, comprising water, beer, soft drinks, wine and whatever spirit or cocktail he fancied at the time: Southern Comfort, vodka or tequila.
- Peter Hince (aka Ratty), Fred’s and John’s roadie and head of Queen’s crew.
He was also pie eyed in 1 concert when he got drunk with Tony Hadley. 😂
You should watch Queen at live aid 1985. The best live performance ever. ❤
