- Let’s be honest; having a good vocalist is essential to gaining traction as a band. If your singer sucks, you probably aren’t making it to the Top (and maybe not even to the Middle). Steve from S&T YOUNG has been on our Most Wanted list of guests for quite awhile, and now that he’s joining the show he’s chosen a great topic for us to dive into. So just who are our favorite metal singers? Let’s find out…

Finally got through this - Great episode, guys!
Some of my favorite vocalists not mentioned:
Eric Adams
Midnight
Parramore McCarty (Warrior)
Damien King (both of them!)
Harry Conklin
and last but not least, Lizzy Borden (so underrated!)
As far as female vocalists go - IMHO, nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can even get close to the great Leather Leone from Chastain. She's the perfect vocalist for Metalheads who have a hard time with female vocalists. She's got Dio's dirty lower register totally down. Awesome singer!
your right manowar eric adams should be up the top with rob helford and kind diamond and bruce dickinson
Another great episode. Wasn't expecting so many lesser-known and underrated mentions, but rather assumed that the usual suspects would be celebrated first and foremost. Looking forward to a sequel!
Great discussion. Some favourites of mine that I didn’t hear mentioned:
Alan Averill (Primordial, Dread Sovereign, Twilight Of The Gods etc…)
Matt Barlow (Iced Earth)
Matthew Chalk (Psycroptic)
JB Christoffersson (Grand Magus)
Tim Grose (LORD/Dungeon)
Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost/Bloodbath)
Ilja Jalkanen (Kiuas)
Renato Tribuzy (Thoten/Tribuzy)
ERIC ADAMS - my #1 of all time.
Many excellent and underrated choices in this episode!
Ok Marty and Alan, you to never fail to turn me on to a band ive never heard. Fields Of Nephilim is fantastic. Whoa!! Thanks again.
Oh man you’re welcome! I’m always psyched to share the word about a fave band of mine! And when someone gets it, makes me feel like my work here is done. Haha. Thanks for watching!
Another killer week of Heavy Metallurgy. I wasn't able to catch the stream live as I went to see Death To All w/Aggression & Cryptopsy...and it ruled! Here are my favorite metal vocalists (no order).
1. Courtney LaPlante - Spiritbox, iwrestledabearonce
2. Chris Cornell - Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog
3. Chino Moreno - Deftones, †††, Team Sleep, Palms
4. Sean Harmanis - Make Them Suffer
5. Sam Carter - Architects
6. Martina Veronika Horváth - Thy Catafalque, The Answer Lies in the Black Void
7. Kathrine Shepard - Sylvaine
8. Neige - Alcest, Lantlôs, Old Silver Key, Amesoeurs
9. Kim Song Sternkopf - MØL, The Arcane Order
10. Stefanie Mannaerts - Brutus
My top 5 metal vocalists would be:
1. Bjorn Strid (Soilwork)
2. Tom Englund (Evergrey)
3. Alan Averill (Primordial)
4. Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost)
5. Robert Lowe (Solitude Aeturnus/Candlemass)
❤ My Favorite Singers are , Matt Pike, Al Cisneros , Vincent Houde from Dopethrone and Jon Paul Davis from Cønan , Chris Cornell #1 ❤
I was going to say Eric Bloom (BOC) but BOC isn't really a metal band, but Alan offered up Scott Reagers who apes Bloom, which is one of the reasons I love that debut S.V. record so much. I love Lizzy Borden's voice, though I don't love the band. Guy Speranza of Riot, too.
Eric Adams! 🤘🏻
As a metalhead I will obviously go with the classics "Dickinson/Dio/Halford/Ozzy" but I will side with Steve about Devin Townsend and no one mentioned the almighty Mike Patton, 2 of the most talented & versatile vocalists.
King Diamond Rules. He does. Really.
He does indeed. No arguments from me! Thanks for watching!
