    I'm happy. Many many thanks. I had a thin yarn and I made changes for my granddaughter 4 years old: needls 3,5 mm (US 4). For the leaf: knit up to 36 sts.. When I separated sts for ribbing on the 2 sides: 18 rows. Then I continued with seed st. for 36 cm. (14 inches). Thanks again, Joannes!

    Omg how fortuitous! Seriously I saw one of these scarves yesterday and then immediately went looking for a free pattern! Someone called it a miss marple scarf lol. I immediately saved it to my Ravelry!!

    Yikes, that is so complicated. I am so impressed with your skills. I’m still getting myself all knotted up in the yarn and tripping over it as I leave my room. Maybe some day I’ll try this scarf.

    I use DPNs for the key hole so you don’t have to keep transferring the stitches

    Okay I got it to the 30 stitches now I'm a little confused from this point it says in the instructions rice stitch and how long do I knit from this point

    Thought I was doing ok, but when I started to knit the 2nd lot of rib rows, the stitches were very loose. Looks terrible

    Thankyou for this tutorial. I can knit and purl but have never been able to follow a pattern. I need the visual and you explain things so well. I've a beautiful 50s style Cape that has no collar. This would look amazing. I'm definitely going to try it. Maybe add some faux fur? Do you think this would work please?

      Absolutely! Sew a strip of faux fur in the middle of the scarf. Even a boa. It would look very elegant.

    Dear Joannes, thanks a lot, almost done, but in the written instructions for take off: Row 24: k1, k2tog, YO, k2tog, K2 = 6 titches. (YO isn't mentioned and k2 instead of k3).

    Help: I’ve connected the two sides to create the pocket, with the 30 stitches on my needle when I start with knit, I end up on the last stitch as purl. So I’m confused as to why. I’ve counted my stitches over and over to make sure I still have 30 stitches on my needle. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

    Gibt es auch eine Anleitung mit der Fadenführung in der linken Hand. Gegenteil zum Mustervideo wo der Strickfaden rechter Hand geführt wird. Danke schönes Muster ich kette die Maschen ab und nehme sie mit dertunesischen Häkelnadel auf. Die Maschenzahl wird dann erst auf die Hälfte reduziert. So vermeide ich unschöne Löcher.

    I came to the part where you separate the stitches to make the loop and I'm doing knit 1 and purl 1, and it's coming out to a seed stitch and not ribbing what am I doing wrong??

      You are probably missing a stitch. In any case, knit the knits and purl the purls.

    I don't mean to bother you but I'm doing the loop for the scarf and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm doing k1 and p1 for the loop and it's coming out in seed stitch and I have 15 stitches on each needle. I can't seem to get it looking like yours for the pocket section.

      When ribbing, always knit the knits and purl the purls.

      Everything has to do with the yarn and how you knit. Try following the same instructions with thinner yarn.

      On next row, work each stitch kf&b to have 30 stitches again.
      For other “Leaf”:
      1.- k2, yo, k2tog, p1, k1 continue with seed stitch, k last 3.
      2.- k2, yo, p2tog, p1, k1 , k last 3.
      Repeat these 2 rows,= 25 rows.
      Take off:

      No pockets, It's just leaf shape sides.

      @@JoannesWeb I'm talking about the part you make to tuck the leaf through it's on one side but do I also make one on the other side of the scarf the other leaf when you have to use the same technique before the leaf.
