Thank you for this video!!! I was in a yarn shop in Phoenix (on a trip) and saw a Multidirectional scraf. I bought yarn, and she shared the pattern. When I got back home, I was having trouble, and you saved me! Great video! Again thanks 😊
I couldn’t get the hang of the crochet virus shawl until I watched your tutorial, now if I ever want to knit or crochet something, I come here first 💘 looking forward to this one
was going through your play list and saw this beautiful scarf. I'm using a Red Heart variegated in Autumn colors. Making it a semi- skinny scarf. I have a tip, ( you may know this already) that I stumbled on by accident but it really works out well. With the knit front and back, I knit the first part and then when I insert my needle into the back I just slip it and it works out beautifully. Thought I would pass that along for people who may have trouble with the knitting the back loop. Have a Blessed day!
The most beautiful project you have ever done! Knitting on the needles are a primary, yet common thing, as seen on the other tutorials in which there scarves, shawls, and cawls were made. But diagonal garter stitches made from those needles.......AMAZING! Thanks for your video!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Your explanation is clear and simple. Your stitches are so even and lovely! I learned to knit 13 years ago & have loved it ever since! I want to make a candy cane stripe scarf using this technique. I am just dreading the color changes! Thank you again! BEAUTIFUL work!
Great tutorial! Although I have been knitting for over 40 years, it's my first steps with diagonal and your video was a good choice to start off. I'm going to do diagonal with a herringbone pattern which is way advanced for me, so the first steps with garter and your guidance will build up my confidence before I go further. By the way, you have a very nice and soothing voice, perfect for this role.
I bought a lot of selfstriping yarn and this will make beautiful presents for my friends ! Thanks for the tutorial, after 55 years of straight up, this will be my first diagonal ! Great job.
Thank you for this pattern. After making my second scarf I found the best way to end off and keep a perfectly neat edge! You simply knit two tog through back stitches at the end of every row. Perfect.
I learned the Noro Scarf from you. Couldn’t quite get it from other instructions. It’s the project that kept me motivated (I loved seeing eaxh new color come along) when I first learned to knit last year. Now I’m finishing up a diagonal scarf. I try to learn a little something new with each project.
I love your tutorial video. Saw it yesterday and rushed out to buy yarn & needles today so I can start knitting this scarf tonight! Thanks for the inspiration.
I'm using this video as a reference point because I am loom knitting a blanket on the diagonal and while the technic isn't exactly the same because the stitches alternate between a knit and purl on the loom it is certainly helpful for how the create the corners properly.
Thank you for this tutorial. I've been wanting to make a tea towel to go with my dish cloths but couldn't find a pattern!! Now I can't wait to get started making my tea towels. I love how thorough you are!!!
hi. 1st of all thank you. 2. for the 1st time in my life I wanted to knit something and my sister wanted to teach me the basics but I didnt want to practice then start 😂 sooo I searched and found this incredible yet easy pattern of yours and now... I'm loving it. I made a scarf with fringes!!!!!! and a hat and a head-band in just 3days... I would send you pictures but I don't know how. And again... THANK YOU 😍😍😍💗💗💗
This video helped me a lot. I wanted to try something new in a scarf for my daughter and I have a ball of red metallic and a ball of white metallic yarn. I'm going to try to use this pattern making large stripes. Thanks so much for your nice slow calming tutorial. You made it easy to learn.
Thank you very much. I watched your video tutorial and made a scarf for my son. I am not an expert in knitting but this one was really easy and very nice. Thanks again
And we love learning from you Fibre Spider. I'm trying to make a simple sweater with this technique using self striping yarn. I'm getting there. Thank you . Much appreciated video.
It's brilliant, thank you for teaching us this clever pattern, a friend of mine has a jumper with this pattern and I always wanted to know how it's created. Now I have just made a scarf for my daughter in blue, really pretty, I'm happy, thumbs up!

I think this pattern can be made into a rectangle throw by just making it real wide on bottom and working it just like the scarf. What do you think Mr. Spider?
hi Fiber spider. I am working on the multidional garter stitch scarf. I knited three triangles.and on my left needle Is at the top of the triangle with stitches on it facing towards the middle seam going to the point. Hi again! Is there any particular reason that you are doing the decreases at the beginning of your decrease rows as the "textbook" K2TOG (knit two together) as opposed to the last two stitches, which you are doing as a K2TOGTBL (knit two together through the back loops). Since knitting through the back loop(s) makes your fabric tighter wouldn't this make one edge tighter than the other? Anyway, I do love your videos as well as your outstanding and creative use of our language. Keep up the great work...I'll be watching. ;-)
No exact reason, perhaps chalk it up to personal idiosyncracy. I often stray from text book standards if it makes things easier and still gets the job done. Another decrease that I've recently taken to is to slip 2 stitches knitwise, then slip them back onto the left needle, then knit together. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos even if I am unorthodox at times 😊
I absolutely love this pattern! I'm working on a blanket and it's turning out awesome! Much better than C2C. Have you tried doing this in stockinette or seed stitch? I'm curious to know if it works up the same way.
I followed the instructions and ended up with a diagonal edge at the beginning of the scarf and a straight edge at the end. What I found is by increasing only at the BEG of the row you will end up with a diagonal edge and that is ok if that is what you want. However to get a straight edge I have been told to increase both at the beginning and at the end of alternate row. I guess I have to live with one scarf with a diagonal edge!!!
I want to learn how to knit, but I don't know what size and type needles to start with. There are so many different types I'm getting confused. Can you help point me in the right direction, please. Thank you .
