Thanks for the video. I'd like to add my experience. I wasn't able to get my plastic pry tool under the plastic lip, my tool bent so maybe you have a stronger plastic. Looking at the new one, I found that there is a thin part in the plastic of the housing at the place the swing door opens. I cut away the rubber edging with a knife and was able to slip some snips in the void between the plastic housing and the metal of the truck. Then I cut away a large V and was able to flex the housing inward enough to get the pry tool under. I was pretty easy from that point on to compress the plastic inward from the sides toward the middle until I was able to pull it forward. Everything else went exactly as you showed. Great video!
So a faster way to get the old one out is to take a step bit and drill out where the tabs are. If you take your time you can do it easily without any paint damage. Not to take anything from this gentleman’s video but it was much faster.
Just replaced mine and came to the same conclusion, lol. Tried the pry tools, then going through the fender well. After getting nowhere after 30 minutes, broke the pocket out with a screwdriver and hammer. Had the pocket out and the new one installed in 5 minutes :).
@@garykanston @davedurham9591 breaking the tabs on the housing shouldn't impact the metal frame, which is what the tabs press against to remain in place. Is that what you found?
Awesome video!
I have a 2013 Ford Fusion and your visual of the housing and where the tabs were is just what I needed to see! Many thanks! 😊
Very helpful. Thank you

lol yes, I agree, that's my plan too since the old one is trash anyway.
And done in 15 minutes. 🎉
I just replaced mine. The spring actually split due to extreme cold weather. I had to break the ridged plastic to get the tabs on a 2011 model
Easiest to go through the fender, take the liner out and you have full access
Excellent explanation can you come and help me with mine, lol
The link no longer works... I need this part
