Bora NGX Saw Plate on WTX Guide Rail? YES!

  • According to Bora, the NGX style saw plate cannot be used with the WTX guide system. Well, you can, and it fits perfect. There is one minor quirk as shown in the video, but if you have already invested in the WTX system, but want a GOOD saw plate, the NGX style is superior to the older WTX model. This is a walk-through of the setup and testing of the NGX saw plate used on WTX rail.

    Thank you, Roger!! I’ve been looking at getting the NGX system and came across a brand new set of the 100” WTX rails for about half price at a flea market. Now all I need is the plate. Subscribed!!!

      It works and way less cost than a track saw!

    Thanks for the reminder to make a 1” offset. I had not thought about that while putting mine together right now. I was more focused on straight. Thanks for sharing

    Dang,the Bora Wtx saw clamp guide and the NGX saw plate is awesome. I saw the plywood which came out perfect. 👍👍👍👍

    If you hunt around on Bora's website they now have a page that shows three of their clamp jigs, including the saw plate, that are compatible with the WTX and NGX guide rails. Good discussion, Roger. I understand that the use of hard plastic clamshells is mean to reduce thievery, but they are a pain to open. I ended up getting a pair of offset shears to open them.

    Thank you for the above video. I had the same problem. I own the WGX track and the wax saw plate is junk. Cuts are a 1/8" off or worse with the flimsy wgx saw plate.
    I purchased the NGX saw plate guide today and love it. There is now comparison between the two.

    Just found your video and very informative. FYI, had just got back from the local hardware store yesterday, out in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia and sliced my finger open trying to get a tool out of its rigid plastic packaging using a sharp pair of scissors. My fault for being careless but some of the packaging nowadays has become ridiculous with how hard it is to open.

    If you had a sand blaster you could take a few passes over the bottom of the rails and maybe one on the splinter tape. Then you can properly use the tape with zero clearance. Need a high pressure sand blaster and a heavy coarse media

    What would happen if you just put the non-chip strip on both sides of the underside of the guide, wouldn't that make up for its thickness, and then you'd have the benefit of the strip on the cut side.

    I have a question can a bora ngx clamp extension be compatatiable with the bora wtx clamp.

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. The extrusions are different.

  • @mpberryreg
    @mpberryreg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    COUld you not put the chip guard strip on bot sides of the track so it would balance out without the recess?

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never really looked at it that close. Since I use this for rough cuts only (finish cuts are on the table saw), I wasn't really concerned.

    Glad I saw your video. Just got the updated WTX plate today, and it is junk like the 1st. Amazon will be getting it back, and went ahead and purchased the NGX one instead. Do you happen to know if the T-bar add-on they have for the NGX bar would fit on the WTX rails? Thanks

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The T bar looked like a clumsy add-on to me, so I did not buy it. Once put into an "L" shape it would make the track too heavy on one side. You would not be able to use it in the "T" position when cutting without cutting the bar.

      The WTX rail and NGX rail look almost 100% identical

      I got my WTX plate and T the other day from Amazon. It is being sent back as it is indeed junk. I thought I'd be saving a few bucks but it doesn't sit well and is sloppy on the track with no way to take up the slack. NGX plate was ordered today from Amazon. Picked up the WTX rail not long ago as it was on sale at my local HD.

    It is hard, especially when you don't have a saw horses. As it gets older,the saw plate starts to slip. In order not to slip I used zip ties.

    Hi, how accurate is the cut and is it worth buying?

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't use it for fine furniture, but otherwise, quite accurate if setup correctly.

    I wish you hadn't tossed out that "piece of crap" BORA saw plate. That's the one I bought, and the local hardware stores that sell the BORA tools in my area only have that model on their shelves (no model number but the print says works with WTX and NGX tracks). The instructions that come with the saw plate are useless, and there are no TH-cam videos that demonstrate how to assemble that particular saw plate to one's saw using the WTX track. So I guess I can try to return this piece of crap model and order online the NGX model saw plate and follow your directions here. Thanks for posting, but I wish someone out there did this with the current BORA saw plate that has no name.

    Just found ur channel man. Ur funny with those one liners too btw. Thanks for the heads up on this Bora track and saw base.. I was in 2 minds about buying one. I was thinking about getting a proper track saw bcos I'm very weary about getting a full size table saw for my shop.. What would u recommend as a best table saw to get if u were doing a video about it my friend..
    Great video and I just sub'd to the channel too man.. Salute to u Sir..

      The DeWalt portable jobsite table saw has done very well for me. I have one in addition to my big table saw in the shop. There is a video covering the assembly, etc. on my channel.

    Aren't you supposed to clamp it down for safety.

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The rail clamps to the workpiece. That is what the lever is at the back. The other end is adjustable to fit your work length.
