CHEAP Fix To Stop the Annoying Ferrari TICKING Noise!

- Ferrari 458 Winter Workshop: Today we perform the final maintenance operation within the engine compartment, replacing the EVAP Purge Valves (AKA Wash Valves/Solenoid Valves/Flush Valves) following which we refit the engine cover. The valves commonly become noisy and can fail inducing a dashboard Check Engine Light (CEL). I am replacing mine due to being noisy and inexpensive to change while we already have the engine compartment open on the Spider…a ‘While I’m In There’ job. I also wanted to provide this for my viewers because there is very little content online and at the time of filming, no online videos to explain how to perform this fairly common maintenance task.

Today we perform the final maintenance operation within the engine compartment, replacing the EVAP Purge Valves (AKA Wash Valves/Solenoid Valves/Flush Valves).
The valves commonly become noisy through time and can fail inducing a dashboard Check Engine Light (CEL). As of the date of recording, this information does not exist in the public domain.

Have you heard of this issue with Purge Valves?
such a detailed video, thank u for the documentation!!
Thank you…Glad it was helpful!
I wish I saw this before I did my purge valve job last weekend. Thank you much for sharing. For electrical clip, I realized we have the pull the blue clip since it's a locking mechanism which is annoying.
Did you break the clip on the connector?
@@RichReviews_ yes it seems like I had broken the locking mechanism on the electrical connectors.
You may be able to buy new clips…check online
@@RichReviews_ I pressed the clip very hard like you have shown in the video without unlocking the blue pin.
@@RichReviews_ currently the purge valve is staying on there and the connector is tight enough without the locking mechanism. We will see how it goes, knock on wood. 😅
Hypothetically speaking. What would happen if I disconnected and capped both ends of these valves?
You'd get a CEL error and would fail a future MOT.
You couldn't cap the emissions, you would need to at least vent them.
What are the part numbers for these valves? I have the same annoying clicking noise on mine and this seems so easy to do.
Diagram 12 - Part number 254425 for the Flush/Purge Valve
Part number is as Will has provided 254425.
These are known commonly as Purge Valves but are also known as Flush/Wash/Solenoid valves
I ordered my valves and clips from FerrParts in the US. I was able to carry out this replacement on my car today thanks to your step by step walkthrough. You’re not kidding, those little clips will launch like a rocket if you’re not careful. Thanks for the great video. This also gave me an excuse to deep clean my cam covers and underneath the heat shields.
Did you replace on a spider or Italia?
