    Hi , I've been watching your channel for years. I seldom make a comment But after pulling Is goose neck trailers for over 20 years I would never go back to a bumper pull. They are easier to back up and easier to get into tighter spots, loaded right they will give you a much better ride over any bumper pull. I pull a 26ft gooseneck daily, thats just my opinion. When you go to look at a trailer you might want to hook into a gooseneck and take it for a ride before you buy, it might change your mine. Keep up the good work. Watch your Channel all the time. Thanks Dan

      It’s all the emissions crap on them as to why they’re quieter. Which being quieter is not a good thing being it’s very restricted. Which is chocks down the exhaust flow and reduces the horsepower a lot.

    Sometime you will want to setup all the trailer profiles in the truck. It will remember your trailer brake gain settings, and works with the camera system to show how much room you need to change lanes (and probably a bunch more stuff). Very useful tech.

    I've been a GM guy for a long time. I've had a Suburban, then a Tahoe. When my son sold his pickup truck I traded the Tahoe for my current vehicle - a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. One of the things I like about the GM trucks is you can get the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller. It's nice to have the status display in the dash. Overall, they're decent vehicles. I've been very happy with them, and I'm sure you will be too, Mike.

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c ปีที่แล้ว

      Dump trailers save a ton of work for sure. Hauled a couple loads of fill dirt last year...that shoveling out of a pickup bed trailer isn't any fun at all. When I picked up the 6 tons of sand/gravel mix a few weeks ago I went down and rented a dump trailer for $50 for 2 hours....made the job quick, easily, and non-back breaking LOL.
      I thought about buying a dump trailer but they're ridiculously over-priced for no better than they are built, and for no better than the hydraulic lift systems are. Its better to just rent one for the occasional usage I have for one.
      I had thought about buying a dump trailer and renting it out but people don't take care of anything especially if it isn't their equipment, and the liability of people borrowing it would totally out weigh what I could charge for it.

I started out as a GM truck guy but had such bad luck with them back in the 1970's I swore off of them. I have had the Cummins Dodge for a decade in the 90's with no problems at all but just wanted to drive something else, so it's been Ford trucks for the last 2 decades. @wildbill23c ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A gooseneck is a great way to go if you are towing really often and towing heavy loads...better weight positioning over the truck's rear axle VS behind it.
      Luckily the truck I just picked up a couple months ago has the provisions for a 5th wheel and gooseneck hitch already in it....just need to pickup a hitch, might get both so I can pull either one. It has the above bed rails, which some people don't like because you have to clean them out, but not that big of a deal with an air compressor and blow gun. When I picked the truck up it had an old tonneau cover on it that was falling apart, and the bed was full of leaves, hay, etc. so I had no idea the truck had the 5th wheel prep package until I cleaned it up a few days later. I just have a 3/4 ton pickup, which will be more than enough for anything I'd ever care to pull. Mostly pulling a 7x18 car trailer with my sub-compact tractor and some implements a few times a year....so nothing extremely heavy, but more than a 1/2 ton truck would be comfortable doing.

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c ปีที่แล้ว

      DO NOT follow the dealer/manufacturer's ridiculously long fluid change intervals, and the transmission fluid is NOT lifetime fluid, it needs changed every 50-60k at a minimum...people skip all this stuff or listen to their dealer/manufacturer for when to change the fluids and then wonder why they have mechanical problems. Don't go beyond a 5k engine oil/filter change either...diesel or not, keep the oil changed, its a heck of a lot cheaper than an engine.

    Nice truck. I’m a Ford guy also but would consider a GMC. Love the hitch camera, saves a bunch of time getting positioned.

    Like you, I've always been pleased with Ford trucks. That said, I've also liked every Chevy or GMC that I've ever driven. Say hey to Hunter and the rest of the clan.

    I have a 2018 High county and I thought it was pretty fancy but yours has a lot more cameras . My dump trailer is 16 foot and I usually haul 6 ton of rock. It has more space so maybe doesn't have as much tounge weight because it can be loaded more towards the back .

    Good morning Mike Melissa and family! Have a day. I’m sure you’ve seen them, but the weigh safe hitches seem to be popular amongst the TH-cam channels.

    I have been pulling equipment for close to sixty years and I load my trailer until the bumper drops about two inches. It gives wight on your rear tires but keeps good control on the front tires. I found that my gooseneck was easier to pull but does not track as good as a bumper trailer when making sharp turns especially on drive ways. Keep safe and have fun

    Mike, the "Heads-Up" windshield display is a great safety feature. If I did the math correctly, a vehicle traveling 65 mph travels approximately 95.3 feet per second, or 286 feet in 3 seconds. A 3-second glance at radio, etc you travel almost the length of a football field. At 70 mph, "interstate" speed, 308 feet in 3 seconds.

      Cool, until you need to replace that windshield, then you'll quickly hate yourself for thinking you needed that HUD.

    Been towing a 24ft enclosed 8ft wide car trailer for years with the 2016 Silverado Z71 2500 HD Diesel 6.6 and has 20 tires and it pulls so much better than the 2500 HD gas engine. Yes you know the trailer is there but not like the gas model. Also the exhaust brake works so well along with the electric brakes. Also the trailer hitch ball top is to be set at 18 inches on my trailer
