    I didn't think you had time for a day job, too many firebirds to fix. Great tips and video, I enjoy the commentary!

    Got me on the “what’s his day job”? I would have guessed auto body repair. Cool video.

      Technically I did work at a body shop for a week like 20 years ago. Wasn’t my thing.

      @@VinylVillageGarage They didn’t do it the VVG way?

      @VinylVillageGarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Correct, I was supposed to weld in cab corners on a truck. I was instructed by shop manager to just fill it with fiberglass and sand it smooth. I was out after that.

    A wise Engineer told me a long time ago...you always look first where the last guy worked. It's always true.

      I agree 💯 almost every time you will solve the mystery if you inspect what was done last.

    Great video! Back before I was even driving we has a 88 Suburban that went in for valve guide seals for the 350. Next morning it wouldn’t start, it blew the injector fuse. I was a gear even back then and kept the TBI engine immaculate so I pretty much knew everything about it. I pulled the air cleaner off and the pcv spacer. The dealer had pinched the injector wires between the throttle body and spacer. My dad was blown away it took me 10 seconds to fix it! Simple fix, put could’ve been over looked and nobody would’ve ever figured it out

      You understand exactly the point of this video. Sometimes it is that simple. Retrace your steps and look for abnormalities and bingo most of the time. You saved so much money and potential misdiagnosis. Worth the effort to look

    Very cool for you to share your job with us. That lesson applies no matter what you're working on! Take care. God bless.

      Exactly why I shared it. I have seen so many times we over complicate an issue and get frustrated. Sometimes it’s really
      That simple

    Awesome advice. Another friend taught me the same. We are our own enemy. Start with what you messed with right before the problem started.

      Well said! Unfortunately we cause most of our issues, I see it very often. We all make mistakes just need to humble ourselves and double check our work.

    Hey I’ve been there a time or 20. When I worked in the oilfield those Kohlers were always breaking that reed or pinching that hose. Haha. Good engines though!

    Great video! We work similar jobs although I've been in this field maybe a little longer(25yrs.in equipment repair, 15yrs in Hydraulics) I had a recent experience with a Kohler V-Twin engine where the connecting rod broke and destroyed the engine. Pretty common problem on these with thousands of hard hours on it. Like you stated I too have seen the reed valve break and blow oil out everywhere but thar is the first that I've seeh the vent hose get pinched. To be honest I can't see how someone missed that putting the air filter on but dumb things do happen.

      I seen a lot of self inflicted injuries to equipment and cars over my years. In this one it was particularly odd you had to pull that tube out and force it out of the way to create this condition not sure how that happened. I will take the easy win on this go

      @@VinylVillageGarage yeah in my history with being employed at Golf Clubs I have a phone full of pictures of stupid equipment accidents. Fortunately no one has been seriously injured over the years. My current boss was surprised when he saw me the first time andI had all of my fingers and toes with working with Reel mowers. I had a good laugh and told him "My Momma raised no fools" lol
