I think my culture does something like that too- we have it w/ a mixture of grinder sugar, black sesames, pieces of ginger, and sweetened coconut milk. Do you happen to be from SE Asia too?

My family called it onde-onde and usualy give it color by: Pink=cococola Green=pandan/pandan leaf White=nothing Then we boil it with ginger and water and also eat it while drinking the ginger water (i don’t know what it’s called in english)
