It’s becoming EXHAUSTING being a Splinter Cell fan. I know they’re doing the remake, but it feels like Ubisoft really has no idea what to do with such a great franchise, with it being over a decade since the last installment.
Imagine falling in love with Prince of Persia, Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman Origins/Legends and Valiant Hearts only for Ubisoft to make Assassins Creed, Far Cry, Just Dance, and Tom Clancy games for the next 10 years....
Not sure how they have mostly given this a poor score. Agree with Tim on this, your always going to get couple of things that your not into but they sold the two main games well. To echo what other people say though - where is Splinter Cell!
It's a Sunday though, so I imagine it was a mistake. Twitter person probably looked up the release date and accidentally grabbed the date of the original.
Massive is doing great work out here. *Outlaws* is pretty-much what i'm looking for in a *Star Wars* underworld game and *Avatar* was a wonderful surprise, amazing open world to explore there, so i'm excited for the *Sky Breaker* expansion next month. *Shadows* looks wonderful so far. loving the different combat styles with Yasuke brutal like Connor or Eivor, while Naoe's agile like Arno or Sam Fisher - good sign for the *Splinter Cell* remake, too, perhaps. Solid show. 8/10, wait, no. Yves is still there, and no Dance Panda. 6/10
Just a note on new Ubisoft games not dropping on Steam. I'm pretty sure they must have some kind of deal with Epic, as new Ubi games launch on EGS and Ubisoft launcher on day one.
I don't think the Samurai in Assassin's creed will be doing all the usual stuff that we expect from AC as being a Samurai he's very much about doing things honourably and taking enemies head on
Andy is bang on with Ubisoft on steam. I would’ve played avatar at launch was it on steam, I’d still have used ubi+ for the lost crown on ubi+ but I want to own outlaws not on ubi , even if steam requires the launcher. Game pass still works with launching on steam simultaneously, look at palworld or starfield, just leaving players and money on the table
@@RednGoneeverything comes to steam eventually but this weird exclusivity they have for a period of time just seems unnecessary. Games like x defiant would benefit tremendously from people seeing it on steam
Assassin’s Creed Shadows was definitely my highlight. Actually preordered it. First time I’ve done for awhile. Will be mostly playing as Naoe but will definitely do Yasuke’s tailored missions as well.
I agree with Tim on this one. They focused on the two heavy hitters, and they showed them well. No need to pull focus to unannounced projects yet - wait until a year when you don't have two huge games to do that.
This showcase for me was fire. I tuned in for Starwars and Assassins Creed and UBISOFT delivered in spades on both. I know exactly what kind of games I'm getting and how they are going to play and I am Fing stoked. We as gamers are blessed this year and the next!
I'm hoping all the artifacting and visual glitches that happened in the gameplay they showed was just compression and 'a-stream-of-a-stream' issues. That said, there were a LOT of those issues on both Assassins Creed and Star Wars.
I would think Shadows will be long in world campaign spanning decades. So the seasons will just be based on when you decide is the best time to strike.
To me, Outlaws just looks like another Ubisoft 8/10 open world game. It has the advantage of being a Star Wars game and that’ll enhance it for a whole lot of people but nothing about the gameplay looks original to me.
@@huliniswhoiam Show was what i expected, but those 2 games even suprised me. They seemed good, my favorites show offs this summer. So i liked the show.
Is it just me or was the gameplay a bit rough on Star Wars? Like there was a point they're shooting from cover and it looks like they're shooting the cover instead of the enemy, so they stand up and pop the enemies, and they've got like 5 seconds to look around before the 2 little dudes that are watching her attempt an attack. The space shooting, they're flying around, it looks awkward to get hits on a moving target, but then when they do they're just spinning around looking for enemies and can't find them, and they do a little finesse spin at the end to make it not look shit. And some of the fonts in the UI look really basic, like somebody just added Arial text to the UI as an overlay. You normally get these perfect demo plays where everything looks fluid and exciting, and then we discover the roughness and bugs when we play it. I'm a bit concerned that they couldn't hide the roughness.
I usually agree with tim but I couldn't disagree more on this one lol. It felt like they were showing us this stuff as if it was the first time we have seen it. Almost everything was reiterated from previous announcements and some was even reiterated multiple times in the show. Like how they explained the Star wars thing twice in a row. All of the stage stuff was completely irrelevant. It would have been a good direct. Or even if they had held some of the assassins creed stuff for today. It felt super Ubisoft but not in a good way.
Yeah and what is weird is that they did that to a degree in the post show. They had voice over for the game play walkthrough of both games that they released afterwards as one video. I'm still sold on these games but it was such a weird presentation even for Ubisoft.

This could have easily been a 30-minute showcase, or they could have shown their bigger games, with the deeper dives, in other showcases, I know PlayStation could have used more content.
I think giving a score for showcases that don’t have a ton of content is extraordinarily difficult to do. I thought AC and Rebels both exceeded my expectations, but the showcase pacing and format just seem really outdated now. For me, if the Just Dance Dancing Panda had made another grand entrance with a marching band as in years past, it’d be a 10/10. No Panda…0/10
Complete and total letdown of a showcase. I was a 10/10 hype going into this one, because we know what Ubisoft is working on through rumors and leaks. So many exciting Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Tom Clancy projects and more that are technically "unannounced" but are in the pipeline. There was only 1 game mentioned in this showcase that hadn't been officially revealed before. It was Anno 117. 40 of the 60 minutes were spent on Outlaws and Shadows alone. Like Tim said about last year's Playstation showcase, we have so many questions about Ubisoft right now and we didn't get answers to any of them. 2/10 show.
I'm genuinely surprised at how y'all so frequently lament the problems with industry consolidation and the dangers of everything being funneled into one or a few large corporations, then simultaneously spend a bunch of time arguing that every PC game needs to be sold on Steam. Let's not forget that Valve is a massive corporation with an overwhelmingly controlling segment of the PC game distribution market, and that's *bad for PC gaming. This argument is even stranger to me *because* it's about PC games. A PC game is a PC game is a PC game. The launcher literally doesn't matter for the experience of and ability to play the actual games, but the narrative has become that it's okay for Valve to basically be developing a monopoly on distribution, not because they're *better* but because they're *ubiquitous*. I don't understand it. Look, I don't have any problems with Steam as a launcher or as a business, but there has to be competition. The narrative for PC games should be: Get your games wherever you want, it doesn't matter what the launcher is as long as you're able to play your game. When you have a platform as large as yours, allowing you to reach such a wide audience, you have an opportunity to help the industry move away from consolidation by helping to popularize the idea that launchers just don't matter.
It's was a 6 to me and the prince of persia was meh, a title screen with a release window but no cinematic trailer seems off too me. They gonna have a game ready in two years but can't show anything right now hmmm🤔
AC Shadows is the first/only Assassins Creed I've wanted to play on day 1. But aside from that, this show was trash for me - no Rayman and the Prince of Persia SoT remake was just a 30 second teaser.
i think it'll be fun exploring the open worlds and underworld stuff, but i'm not expecting an amazing story, as *Lucasfilm* seems to want to connect everything like *Obi-Wan, Mandalorian, Book of Boba,* cashing-in on nostalgia with almost everything instead of letting the creatives branch out more with interesting new stories like they did with *Andor, Aphra,Visions* etc.
I think Tim often has the logic of ‘this thing did what it wanted to do, and it did so it’s a success’. I don’t want to reduce his opinion to just that but he often says that about things he’s not that passionate about. If the thing it did isn’t good it doesn’t matter that they achieved it or not. Bad is bad.
Yeah but if you look at what actually satisfies people, it was XBOX spending 100 billion dollars for years and not having anything to show for it for years, and then finally delivering a bunch of exciting games at a showcase all at once in order to be a 10/10. I wouldn’t say this is a 10 by any means but I appreciate someone having the perspective that different showcases can have different goals and not holding everything to an insane standard. I think it’s more insane to say that you were really excited about the two games they spent the most time on, specifically because of how well they showed them, and then give it a 4.
