I love this laptop, however, unsurprisingly, the cooling is still an issue. Massive credit to ROG for being able to keep a 4090 cool enough to not go thermonuclear or something.
It’s a mobile variant, so probably even a desktop 2080 would outperform it

It always depends on what games you wanna play of course, but for many gamers out there new gaming laptops are actual desktop replacements. Real gaming wherever you are. I love it.
But will surely cost a lot than a new desktop.
@@skynight5524 it is getting closer. Desktop always means you need a keyboard and a monitor on top, maybe even a webcam and a sound system. You can have all that combined basically.
@@TheMirrorYouDeserve yes but desktops are still the undisputed king of upgrading. its way easier and cheaper to upgrade a desktop to stay current and up to date with modern gaming demands. you have to replace your entire laptop in most cases for an upgrade.

got my Rog Strix Scar III 17" Laptop with an 2070 Rtx since 3 years and i absolutely love it. I can play every game on very high and i take it wherever i go. Using it with an external mouse + extra gaming keyboard and for me its much better than a normal desktop pc. - in 2 Years i am gonna switch to the 4090 Scar with 18" and i am looking forward to it.
Gaming laptops are actually now worth getting. Portable with desktop performance. Took a long time to get here but super impressive

I can only see 0.05% of Americans wanting to spend a ridiculous $3,900.00 USD on a laptop like this. Laptops costing $4k are only good for showing but the most efficient ones and the best value for money tends to be laptops around $2,500.00 USD. I would imagine that the majority of Americans around 75% and up are okay with spending $500-$1,500 USD on a laptop. With inflation being high nowadays, more will be settling for cheaper laptops.

No, every 6 Years, i m spending 3500 to 4000 Euro for a Lappy. Live in Germany. That are round 650 Euro a year for gaming, thats ok.

Think about it... I live in Hungary the minimum wage is in this country 200.000 HUF (552 USD) gross, it is approx. 140.000 HUF (386 USD) take-home pay. The VAT is here 27%, basically a laptop cost 20-30% more than in the USA or UK. I earn ~911 USD as a customer service represantive. Just the rent I pay monthly costs 469 USD + energy bills. On food there is also 27% tax, so it is also way more expensive than in Western Europe. I use a 8 years old Levovo laptop, because it would take me 10 years to spare money for such a gaming laptop lol.
The relaxing end art style about unboxing is top notch. But I stay until the end because not only he has editing skill but he is among the best player out there

I play minecraft rtx regularly, and I think the poor vsync implementation was getting in the way of performance at 7:35. I've found it to tank framerate significantly under certain circumstances, as evidenced by a low GPU usage
@marco_specialops If you play 1.8.9 or below, then lunar client is probably your best option. Forge with patcher and tons of other performance mods also works for some people, but lunar is quite reliable.
1.12 and up, the sodium mods are your best bet afaik. Fabric has come a long way. And on a side note, this is quite the rare typeracist encounter, small world
@marco_specialops depends. If you're on bedrock/win10, just turn down all the settings for higher fps. If you're on java, for newer versions, use the iris or sodium mods to help.
Kinda surprised your game is running well! I've been hearing a lot of people talk about having the GTX 4090 and dealing with stutters and low FPS on Hogwarts Legacy.
Could depend on the area. With DLSS set to Performance and Frame Generation [ON] the experience was pretty smooth. I'm not sure how rest of the game performs tho.

As the very happy owner of an MSI GT83V Titan, with an 18.4 inch screen, I am happy to see someone else also do a large laptop with modern parts. My MSI has an 8th gen 8850 and dual 1080s. Can't wait to see how this one stacks up. Nice to see that it only needs 1 power supply vs mine which needs 2.

I was lucky enough to get an Asus Rog Strix Scar 17 with i9 and RTX 3070ti at £1900 and I have to say this Scar 18 has more then twice the power of my laptop. the evolution of gaming laptops are out of this world at this point. The price as well lmao

This laptop can be ideal if you are a director, or producer of K-pop MVs or K-drama shows. I know BLACKPINK MVs have been produced with an extremely powerful computer in the process of its creation. For now, since I am a editor of existing K-pop MVs, and their audios, I don't need that laptop.

That's amazing! Always loved laptop technology. My laptop is Chinese off brand that has a broken screen. I took the whole screen off as getting it replaced is expensive. So now I just connect it to a monitor and it acts like a desktop lol
Unfortunately newer laptops are just getting more and more expensive. As an international volunteer who pays for my own volunteering with my broken laptop, there's no way I can afford these kind of machines.

but it just brought back unpleasant memories, it just reminds me when i bought the alienware m18xr2 18" of 9.5kg back in 2012.... it was a pain to find a proper bag for it, take it with me when travel and very challenging to upgrade its parts. back them, it was an outstanding device. but i wont buy a huge sized gaming laptop.

Owned a predator helios with a 3060 graphics card for 2 years now. Looking forward for my baby steam deck to come. He's been a great Boi to play stuff on. And loads koikatsu party with HF patch relatively fast.

ive tried gaming laptops with rtx 3070 and it was great but not good enough to play on max settings. built a rx 7900 xtx rig and will buy a thin and light gaming laptop and it will be the best option for me personally. hardcore battleship at home and long battery life on the go.
Eu também tenho um com a RTX 3070. Ele até que aguenta rodar no ultra, mas em certos momentos em alguns jogos o FPS cai, e as vezes da uma travada ao carregar algo que ainda estar por vim. Mas se colocar tudo no alto, ele roda normal. Mas o ultra é irresistível kkkkk, eu sempre acabo colocando e convivendo com as quedas de FPS

I used own a asus rog strix g15 2019 model but due to heavy gaming, I've successfully destroyed the motherboard and gpu of this laptop.
@@WonZZY2003 same kinda, I had bad thermals and replaced the liquid metal for some thermal paste (didnt work) then liquid metal again and then it was shot and un-usable. I tried to rma the laptop and didnt get it back until I threatened to sue. I ultimately did not get it repaired because the repairs were quite expensive. Asus is kinda bullshit like everyone else

I advise to test these machines with a powerful Mmorpg game to know its performance capacity. If it can run one at 60fps it would be excellent.

I've seen many brands with their gaming segment laptops such as Acer Nitro , Lenovo Legion , Hp Omen , MSI , etc. but ROG is at the top in my opinion

Only the top high end models of ROG thats worth the money, the lower ROG variant always and i say ALWAYS more overpriced than other premium models like Legion from Lenovo or Predator from Acer with the same specs and even lower spec just for the ROG branding
er no mechanical kb, no led screen. I need both for this kind of money. The msi has these but with some ancient front facing webcam WHY ffs. Its no rocket science putting this shit together with decent cooling

It's funny if you turn on DLSS setting, it can turn CPU temperature into 90+ degree which is very bad for the lifespan. The DLSS is very picky at choosing the cores since the load is half of capacity. Not very well optimize for the mobile use.

Laptop looks amazing, but the Cpu is drawing way too many watts. Probably the reason for lesser frames. Cpu was drawing 30 watts for doom which is insane
Also the temperature is preety high maybe an undervolt could fix the issue.

@@aventurussy its got a 90wh battery, and it used around 330w for the whole system, so it will not last an hour, around 25 minutes at full usage.

Yeah, Asus did a great job with this laptop. I don't like it's software that much but it's a great laptop. I hope in the future maybe we could see a great one of the top laptops that has a watercooling system. Water cooling fan here. For a gamer I don't like using Windows 11 if I would be a gamer, but it can be considerably one of the future softwares. Maybe I just sticked with Windows 10 for a lot and I am used with it. 😅

Just a quick thing I have to mention, when you're playing CS:GO, the FPS will always sit at 400 or lower. To fix this go into the CS:GO console panel. (Press "`" to enable it. If it doesn't work you can enable it in the settings by just searching console.) And then type "fps_max 800". You can change the fps to whatever amount you like. Also if you type "net_graph 1" also in the console, you can see a list that says your FPS, PING and more. (Not CPU or GPU temperature though.) And one last thing, just remember to re-enter the FPS command every-time you re-launch the game and if you don't want the net graph, just do the same command with 0 instead of 1. ("net_graph 0")
